Excellent point. As the saying goes in those commercials: "Use it when you need it!" 😎 Thanks for sharing, Chad!

I personally own 7 trailers, could probably get by with just 1 or 2 for my needs. But I don’t consider them deprecating assets. Most of them if not all are worth more than I paid for them. And the convenience of having one on hand at any time, is well worth the trouble.

I have 3, and sometimes not the right trailer...well a lot of the time not the right trailer...I still need a dump trailer LOL. Now that I have a larger pickup and can actually tow a dump trailer its coming up higher on the list of items to buy. If I went out and had to buy the car trailer I bought 1-1/2 years ago, I'd be paying almost $2200 more for the same trailer now.
@PurpleCollarLife Жыл бұрын
You've got that right! The prices of trailers has gone up well over what I expected. Those that bought trailers 3-5 years ago can easily sell them now for a profit (if they wanted to - which no one seems to). :)

@wildbill23c - dump trailer is on my wish list - but the prices!!

As stated below. My brother has the trailer, I have the log splitter. We share but, I like your point about renting vs owning based on frequency of use. I have to check my area to see if there is a place like this. There are many times where a dump trailer would be nice use for a day or 2.
@PurpleCollarLife Жыл бұрын
I agree! A dump trailer would be a great thing to rent for a couple days, but not need to buy unless you have a regular use for it. They’ve really gone up in price.

For years I used the same philosophy, renting a small trailer to haul a motorcycle occasionally. Eventually, I did get a 5x10 single-axle utility trailer, as we had an SUV and not a truck which replaced the rental. Still have the utility trailer but as you likely know, I now also have a 20' dovetail trailer since I move my Kubota LX around quite a bit. Still waiting on that "hauling the Ranger" video...👍😎

Thanks, Chris! That video is coming up later this week. That dovetail trailer is a good one - perfect for the LX!

I bought a trailer, my justification is, when I want to use it I don't want to have to rely on a rental company to have what I need in stock when I need it, not when they have it to rent it. When I want to haul something, I simply hookup to my trailer and go get the task done, no trip to the rental yard, no rental fees and I can use the trailer whenever I want, or I can rent it out myself and make money off the rental myself, and not pay a corporation a rental fee. My trailer is a 7x18 car trailer...If I did it again I'd get the dovetailed back end of the trailer, or better yet a tilt deck. As is right now, whatever I haul vehicle wise needs to be operational to get it onto the trailer as there isn't a winch on the trailer. I added a trailer tongue tool box for $135. Cut the original spare tire mount off the tongue to make room for the tool box, and picked up a spare tire mount that utilizes one of the stake pockets so I can put the tire anywhere on the trailer depending on what I'm doing. I was after a 16' trailer, but it sold before I got to the dealership, they had the 18 footer in stock so that's what I got, and glad I did, if I load my tractor and all my implements/attachments, its a tight fit, glad I didn't get the shorter trailer. I don't have a dedicated rental yard where I live, that rents trailers, so that's a huge reason I bought a trailer....if the place in town doesn't have a trailer on the day I need it, its a 2 hour round trip to another town to rent a trailer and drive back...not worth the rental cost to do that as it turns it into 4 hours by the time you are finished just picking up and returning the trailer. If you live close to a place that rents trailers cool, hope they have it when you need it, but I'd rather have the trailer, use it whenever I want, and however long I want, and be able to loan or rent it out if needed.

So far, the availability of the trailer hasn’t been an issue for me - but I’ve only needed it twice. :). I agree though - if I were needing a trailer more often, it would make sense to get my own. And I also agree that 18’ is better than 16’ when you’re thinking about tractors and implements. Thanks for watching!

@@PurpleCollarLifeSomething else to add, get a trailer with a lot higher payload capacity than your current needs, and make sure it has brakes on both axles not just one. My trailer has axles on all 4 wheels, makes it much better stopping when its loaded.

I went to look at one of these trailers at my local tractor supply. The build quality was sub par to say the least

Does the ramp/gate actually fold forward on these as well? It looks like the bolt connector areaa is slotted so it can slide up some and allow to fold forward when hauling empty and not be such a wind sail.
@PurpleCollarLife4 ай бұрын
I believe that gate does fold forward.

Bro, I literally work at Carry. We make these shows all the time the people building. This shit are always high and drunk. Our health insurance is so shitty and they only give us a $0.25 raise twice a year. End of facility they show in the commercial is it actually facility that makes 90% of the trailers the high-tech facility only makes less than 5% of total trailers. You see on the markets made by our company.
