To be honest Juvias Place never would have blew up the way they did if it wasn't for smaller (mostly black) youtubers promoting them. Kind of a slap in the face to not promote the people that got your business booming.

I'm about as white as they come, but I get 100% where you are coming from. It's like buying from a company owned and staffed by all women, supporting the company because of this, and then finding out the company only panders to men. Sorry if that was too general an analogy but I am with you.

ANYBODY WANNA HEAR SOME FUNNY MATH? If every person who viewed this video planned on buying the two pallets for $60 but decided not to, Juvia's Place lost around 15,645,000 in possible revenue. Lesson: don't bite the brushes that feed you! 💄

Although I am white, I just find it so disgusting that a brand founded by black women who wanted to make the industry better for other black women just ended up selling out. I realize it's a business, not some kind of charity, but when you just throw people just like you under the bus I simply can't support you. Juvia's Place may make some great shadows, and I was excited since I wanted to make them one of my first makeup items that was made by a black owned business, but this customer service on top of their ethics just makes me feel like I'd be going against the original cause I wanted to support.

I'm a white blonde European, so I should say I'm pretty far from black culture, but I completely agree with you. I feel that many many companies support minorities (whether racial or not) just to look good on social media. All I see is words and no action, so it's hard for me to take things like that seriously. This is the first video of you that I've watched and I gotta say this was a point well made! ❤

So basically....they had no problem letting any and everyone and their mama advertise and promote their products while they were a small business. Then, once they became a larger business, they were too good to return the favor by supporting smaller youtubers?? People who helped them get as far as they are in the first place? I'd also like to point out that there had to be a TON of "smaller" channels promoting it, if channels/people like Nikkie are willing to endorse it. If it wasn't for SMALL channels, they'd STILL be a SMALL business! I'm glad I didn't go through with my purchase a few days ago.

Pro tip for those who still want to risk buying from Juvias place: use PayPal because if the place is being shady you have 60 days to open a dispute and get your money back all you have to do is show them screenshots of your communication with the company :)

You're right, they dont read emails properly. I sent an email asking if my order had shipped yet (it had been 2 weeks) and if not, could they please cancel my order. They replied saying they had lost my address (what?! My address was even in the email chain) and could I provide it again so they could send it out. So I replied asking them again to cancel my order. Just seemed really unprofessional.

I sooo agree and have felt the same way since after AA's video. Literally 2 days YoungWildandPolished posts her favorites and mention's how JP sent it to her. Then I see Nikkie Tutorial's with a discount code that is listed on JP's website under the masquerade palette. So even if you didn't hear about it from NIkkieTutorials she gets the credit. It's disgusting and I no longer believe in their message. Plus they are liars about not having a PR list.

Yeah a lot of people misunderstood AAs situation. They fail to understand that she and Juvias place had a preexisting agreement for her to review the palettes and for them to pay her for it. They were playing with her coins. And then for them to ditch her, a black owned business in her own right, for more popular (white) KZbinrs was bullshit.

Speaking as another under-represented demographic in the KZbin beauty world (A queer woman over 50 with a very limited budget for makeup), I was juuuuust about to pull the trigger on a purchase from this company. Now I'm just glad I saw this video show up as a suggested link while I was watching another rave review, and got curious enough to check it out. After watching it, I know I won't be making that purchase after all. As much as I *want* to support small, independent business, and black-owned businesses, they aren't all created equal. And I have no use for the ones that bite the hands that feed them. Thanks for your honesty. Peace.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole of this video, and I totally agree with all you said. When you mentioned about Nikkietutorials.....I used to love watching her, but like you have said about Juvia's Place, Nikkietutorials has also lost her way and it's now all about the $$$$ which is a major turn off for me. Younger viewers watching her (and others like Manny MUA etc), hang on her/their every word and instantly rush to buy the products she/they push on here, and they don't realise it's all about the money. As soon as she started her video introducing Juvia's Place, I knew it was a 'business' video. Shame, but that's life huh. Great video and I've subscribed :-D xxx

You are so right in everything that you said!!! I am Mexican and I am addicted to makeup. I make good money and luckily can afford my addiction. There's some real money being spent on makeup, whether we as women of color make minimum wage or 6 figures. with that being said, when there is a company owned by a woman of color, because of the road blocks that women who are AA and Mexican and other non-white ethnicities face, I make a huge effort to give my money companies owned by women of Color because I believe we have to support each other and do our part to help each other out. However, JP has always rubbed me the wrong way for more reasons than one based on what ive heard or seen. The way they are conducting business, (as were pointed out in the video) it's just simply not cool. I haven't bought this company's product because i was often undecided when ready to click that purchase button. You tubers like yourself and Allissa Ashley and other women of color influence where my money goes alot! You tubers like yourself persuade me more than some of the big named youtubers and a simple reason for that is because, my skin is not white so many of the recommendations that some of the big you tubers give just don't pertain to me and its useless for me because I am not pale skinned. You may not have millions of follower (yet), but i know for a fact there are a lot of people who are influenced by what you have to say so its really a sad mistake for this company to not value that. It's their loss because as women of color, we have a lot of buying power and, I guess they like to limit themselves to kissing ass to people who can who can use products from basically any company, while its hard for us to find makeup that matches because of our color. If they were to offer a heartfelt apology to ya'll, i may consider buying them. However, they say when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. What this company has shown is sad. It would take alot for my money to go to them, alot of fixing their bs. Thank you for making this video. your hard work has resulted in being influential when it comes to purchasing so Im glad you're standing up for yourself with dignity and respect.
@Tifjef0698 жыл бұрын
Alexandra I really appreciate that! Sometimes the hardest thing we as you tubers can do is take a stand because it can be met with soooooo much negativity. But then I just feel like if I can only come and say when things are great and amazing but not when something just isn't right for me, what is the purpose of this platform! As you said we have a lot of buying power and I will be glad when all companies see that.....but the fact that one of our own is shunning the very people that you claim to stand for, stings just a little more than most in my opinion. I do believe also that it is up to us to support woc but they way things are going with JP, I just can't stand behind that I'm sorry.

BUT FIRST... You know I totally enjoyed doing the TOP 5 BOHB AND BOMB with you! I "Stressed" in the video customer service and company integrity in the video for this specific reason. "Under promise and over deliver" is what any brand should do. I'm really sorry that this happened to you. And yes.... YOUTube aka Tiff made me purchase the palette... I take brands seriously start to finish in the purchasing process. Especially when you are online and it's my only resource. This is a problem in the natural hair community as well. On a better note... I do want to scope out Coloured Raine! My experience with them has been phenomenal. I have to leave on a positive note of brands that do awesomeness when others don't. That's my way of balance... Have you tried their shadows. Lip glosses and liquid lipsticks are everything

I heard some things about Coloured Raine that wasn't too positive also. I placed one order with them and haven't placed another one since. Google her too. It's a shame that these black owned businesses build themselves off the backs of their people and when "other" people become "interested" in their products, they become "brand new"...This is no disrespect to other races, creed, colors or nationalities but when it's time to call a spade, a spade...😑😒

Good points - thanks for keepin' it real, girl. I was watching all those videos from Nikkie Tutorials, so I started doing my research, and that's disappointing to hear that what started out as empowerment ended up being another company just chasing the money & not staying centered around their message & mission. I've seen SO MANY videos from black women saying do not buy their products - that's gotta show them that somethin' is up & they need to get back to basics.

yep! I saw her push JP like 3 videos after pushing the same Morphe.. I used to like her but now she's just a sell out to anyone who sends her free sh't.. the "oh go no" videos went down to only one no in August and even that one "no" was like a well maybe.. Not to mention she's like the girl version of Jeffree Star now biting on ALL HIS SHIT! It's so ridiculous I can't even stand watching her anymore..

It's sad to see someone so talented who's been in the game for so long sell out like that. All she cares about is who's getting her money and subscribers. And I can't believe she or Too Faced put their name on that terrible pallet. I wish KZbin was still just for fun and not so much of a job for a lot of people, everyone used to be way more genuine 😔

I really want to thank you for your video. I too had a very bad experience with this company. When the Nubia 2 pallet came out in order it with my own money and I never received it. I sent them multiple emails about it and I never got a response I even took a dispute out on them with pay pal and lost because they said they had proof that it was delivered to me but I never had it. I love the fact that they are a black owned business but they have no idea how to conduct business in a business manor. I will never buy from them again nor will I refer people to this company again.

I love you for standing up for yourself. It's never good when a company starts out with good intentions and ends up money hungry. I love the clothing company Torrid who started out as plus size alternative fashion, now when you buy from them it's mostly cookie cutter. Employees of Torrid even came out and said Torrid had to be more marketable. Seeing as they are owned by hot topic it is such a sad change of events. I definitely subbed today, I love a person who stands up for themselves and is graceful about it.

I watched one video before this, but i had to subscribe after this one. Not because of the topic that you were talking about but because of HOW you were talking about it and the FACTS that you used to back up your statements. As a 19-yr old black woman myself, i appreciate watching older black women (hopefully you're not younger than me cause that would be awkward lol) because that shows me that there are people out their LIKE ME who are not afraid to speak what's on their mind but also do it in a way that can be respected. I really loved that about this video and about you. Thank you for being un-apologetically who you are!

GIRL!!! so much in this vid! i got chills also when you broke it even. further. down. at. the. end!!!!! i watched the whole alissa ashley vid and was typing a comment when my comment wouldn't go through and i realized she had made the video private. i had JUST bought the palettes the day before when the sale was announced on jen luv reviews' whats up in makeup vid. i had seen a few vids prior to that, but i did ignore them but kept it in the back of my mind. honestly, YOU were the FIRST person i saw with these palettes and i knew that you really raved about them so that is why i wanted to try them...based off of YOUR positive reviews (again, even in spite of the few neg vids). i got my palettes (actually recorded me opening the box lol) and everything was wrapped secure, secure and I was impressed, no problems so that put my mind at ease and i hoped she was getting her customer service part together. i ordered on a sunday, had my palettes by like that thursday or friday. BUT CHILE...if WE are not supported, then WE won't support...and i am not saying we need free palettes (i buy ALL of my stuff) but exactly what you said bc i saw the nikki tutorial vid, coffee break with dani and i was like "hmmm"...

Good Afternoon Tiffany! Love Love Love this video! Couple of points that I was compelled to comment on after watching this: A.) I just realized that I almost never have women of color in my tutorial feed. Which I'm puzzled by, because I usually search for new or different makeup techniques and application, not color specific or skintone/type specific. That's annoying, because I feel as though good options aren't being presented to me! B.) I loved how honest and clear your message was in this video. You stated your issue with Juvia's Place gracefully and in the most respectable way possible as far as I'm concerned. Which is not always easy, considering what I would have to say about dealing with companies like Sephora and their customer service! C.) If it weren't for watching this video/review. I might have still moved forward in somehow trying to purchase a palette from this company which never has them in stock EVER!! That was already concerning. if I would have waited, spent money, and God forbid something went wrong with my purchase, I feel as though it wouldn't be worth the time or money. if they as a company treated you this way, as a repeat customer, much less a youtuber who helps promote their product, what should I expect?! This is really unfortunate for a company to treat it's customers so poorly, and I won't be giving them my money. On a positive note although Juvia's place won't be my jam, you are! I subscribed to your channel and can't wait to see more from you! Thanks for your time and honesty, I'm glad to be a new fan of Tiffany!

I'm new to your channel and have never purchased from Juvia's Place, but I appreciate you bringing this to light. It's totally unacceptable for a brand to build a platform and a following on such an important ideal and then jump off of it once they get their foot in the door to make the big money.

I own the Nubian 1 palette. I never had any issues. I got my package quickly and undamaged. I also got it before nikkietutorials recommended it. It seems like they've gotten a lot of traffic since then that they haven't been able to keep up with. I have heard numerous stories about bad customer service and it makes me nervous if we're to have a problem. I was excited for their new release but this does upset me. It is a business but you don't have to be rude and don't expect black people to support you when you don't support them.

I have been subscribed to you for a little while. I must say that I completely agree with your thoughts and views of this brand. They should be bending over backwards to send you PR because you are reason why they started their brand. If I was the owner of that company, I would send you PR, give you an affiliate link and support your channel. This is why I love supporting small new brands. Seems like once they blow up and get recognition and growth, they forget about why the started their brand in the first place. You made this video with 100% honesty and integrity and gave the facts. I love your channel and the realness that you bring.

love this video, I feel so sad that this company is now forgetting black women. that pisses me off because I loved that idea that they supported black beauty and really considered buying from them but now I won't even think about them again. I am not black I am Hispanic/white but I will not stand behind a company that doesn't practice what it preaches. its already bad enough for minorities so I don't appreciate how they are dissing black women by not being respectful to them. I will never consider buying from them again. thank you so much for this video

Nikki Davis Sooo...I should support a brand that treats me like sheet for no other reason but that they are Black - Owned....? If we demand accountability from these White Owned brands we should not demand the same accountability from our own? If I am sheet on by a White Owned company I should bitch about it but if a Black Owned company does it I should give them a pass? Oh hell no. I got sheet on me either way and one is just as messy as the other. If somebody pisses me off, I don't care who or what they are, they will no longer get my money, period. I won't put up with other Folks treating me badly and will be damned if I will allow one of my own to treat me badly solely based on the fact that we are the same skin colour.

You know, I've been really considering spending a lot of money on those Juvia's Place palettes. Not anymore. That's really shitty that now they all of a sudden have this big ego, and they're too good for the little supporters. Sales are sales. And I don't want to support that kind of attitude from a company. I'm really glad I came upon this video!

I'm a Mexican/Filipino with a few other ethnicities thrown in there but I get pretty tan during summer and I was soooo excited about Juvia's Place regardless of the negativity that I did order the Masquerade palette very hesitantly though... After reading the FAQs and their shipping policy it didn't sit very well with what I would think customer service should be. Granted like you said Tif small company but it's disheartening to know that you're taking a leap of faith when ordering a product from this company. I'm glad people and KZbinrs are putting their experience out there so we as consumers can be more knowledgeable about the brands we support. It's beginning to seem that its more than just a few incidences but fingers crossed Juvia's place listens to the out pour of unsatisfied customers and tries to alleviate the issue. Love you and your channel!!! Any other recommendations for palettes that are super pigmented/easy to blend that can show up on a tan mexipino like myself?
