Why I wouldn't buy a Akai Mpc Key 37. Like , Subscribe please.

Brief Description of why I will not be buying the Mpc Key 37.

Perfect for me as a portable composition studio, I only need the MPC key and headphones, nothing more. Just ordered a Key 37.

True statement Akai should have given more reasons to purchase newer systems others than adding keys. They at least should have made it a powerhouse. More Ram. Bigger hard drive etc.

Well I showed Akai is part of InMusic and all there parts are used throughout the brands and is why there is no innovation at Akai, and there wont be at Moog either.

They've brought good things (pricing, software/hardware implementation) but they also don't push the envelope, focus on features & innovate like Akai did.

@@Official360 Well the fact is no brand inside InMusic gets special access to parts inventory outside of every other brand, that cost to much money and cause friction among the other brands, If Akai had access to some new tech all the other brands have to have the option to use it also. Thats the real limit is because parts have to bought in bulk orders and used across the entire brand and usually a manufacturing deal that lasts a 5 years often 10 years. Change of parts requires new manufacturing and thats probably the mostly costley this in all, better to stick with whats already being made for a long as possible to cut costs.

Why? I am very happy I don't have to carry both a keyboard and an MPC when travelling, or when going to songwriting sessions with talents etc. This is an amazing thing, everything in one box, could not ask for more!

@@ESos973 That is absolutely true. The workflow is the only difference. I’ve had the studio and a touch and used my mpk261 as a controller with both. I still have the mpk but also have the Key 61 now. As a keyboard player I can tell that The keybed on the 37&61 is better than what’s on my mpk. There’s no right or wrong setup & nothing wrong with having all 3 because they can be used in different scenarios. I plan on getting a live and a X. I just want the X 🤷🏾‍♂️😂…but the live would be useful for me because I’m a truck driver and I can use it while I’m on the road. The key 61, I use at home and is my 1st choice simply because I play keys and it’s convenient to have it all in 1 unit. Now the X…Again I just want it 😂. I would love to have all the Q links. That’s definitely convenient as well especially when it comes to editing.

To me adding the keys made a world of difference for me. I love it. Sold my MPC one+ and my mini+. It works better for me at my work station area and the full size keys are better. Plus the exclusive extra midi port 2 in midi control and direct usb connectivity to my daw are hand changes. A lot of people don't know about those exclusive features. 🤔

I just ordered a Key 37 and already are thinking about getting an MPC Studio controller, then I can use the Key 37 wherever in the world I am, and when I get back home to the studio I just transfer the projects to the studio computer and run in the MPC software there, and no need for the Key 37 in the studio, got plenty of keyboards there already...

I got the mpc live 2, and an mpk mini plus and I've got an MPC Key37. the keybed on the mpc key37 is way much more fun to play, the extra buttons for accessibility make the workflow a lot more fun and having it all in one box make it portable. I sold my MPC one though because that felt redundant. but the mpc37 Key is a machine I bring to a gig, plug it in and I'm good to go. No connecting extra wires or devices, no setting up stuff. It just works right out the box. That's the added value to me.

Mpc live 2 is battery operated & rechargeable. Plus it’s smaller as well & has a speaker on it. Great for on the go use.🙂.

For me the mpc key 37 would have made alot more sense bc I was looking into purchasing my first mpc instrument, but I chose to go with the mpc one plus and also got the mini plus... I wanted it separate because I always wanted the classic look of the mpc and also I would use the mini plus for my daw programs whenever I don't need the npc. And the mpc 37 key just looks a little bulky even though I've seen many producers still enjoying it

Dont need definitely, i have all those except the key 61 even the mpk mini plus. I was in the same boat when they dropped the key 61. Im like why when i have the X, and MPK249 why. I went with the Fantom 06 though. That being said i have the one, Live II, X, 37, and the Force. Its the form factors for me. The X is the keep in the studio and hook up to everything. The Live II is the make a beat right away grab and go. Key 37 is the just want to make a beat and not hook ish up besides output lol. Maybe take with you... The One for me is a dont really use, but yeah you could use it when im using xyz. Its silly, but the order i got them also plays a roll in it too. One, X, Live II, Force, 37. Needing more, to wanting to grab and go, to no Ableton push, but standalone and MPC OS, to I dont want to move a 61 key "Fantom" around outside studio.

I am an mpc live 2 retro edition owner and i had previously the live mk1 and the mpc one . The built in battery and the speakers, for me, does a Huge difference

In My vid My reason not to buy a Key 37 was that I have a MPK249 and to Me its got all the same pads, buttons and knobs and works with My preferred DAW. If I was to get any MPC it would be the Live2 how that would be it. I see you have a Live2 and a X so no You definitely dont need a Key37.

Everyone had different needs. I don't have any intentions of getting a Key 37, but I fully understand why people select it. Larger, keys over a MPK do make a difference when you been playing keyboards with full size keys. If you don't know that, you probably don't really play. You can make the same argument for you having two MPCs. I have three, and I'm not trying to tell people what they should or should not do. I think people already understand the arguments you make and going to buy one despite your points. To them, it's worth it.

Na this was a good look but my church already got my the 37 I didn’t pay for it my church did but I love play my motif but want to connect to my Mpc live 2 , my Mpc Akai force and my Mpc renaissance . If you can make a step-by-step process on how to do this and configure it is greatly appreciated. Makes a lot easier for me and plus I have the native instrument maschine also

I bought the first MPC X for the big screen and 16 Q-Links, then bought the Live 2 to take on vacations and the key 61 so I didn't have to use a midi keyboard anymore. I don't need 3 MPCs but I love having them. All about preference.

@@jfn467 , I use SD cards for project backups, but for me I have huge libraries that I've collected over the decades, so internal SSD's are a better option. And sometimes I misplace SD cards. Right now I'm looking at upgrading to 4TB SSD's. I don't know how long you've been doing music but I suspect over time you'll be making similar moves as your collection grows.

the reason i wouldnt by it is because at the end of the day you still have to transfer your Stems to a PC and cant stem out the automation you created with the mpc software. im good i got enough equipment..

I'm quite happy though, back in the days with my MPC-60 it wasn't fun, packed up in a flightcase, it was heavy as H and I still had to carry a rack for a "real" sampler anyway for all the other sounds I needed apart from drums etc. The MPC-60 II was a bit lighter, but marginal difference, ended up selling them both in the end, Pro Tools changed a lot when it started to work well and you could carry TDM rigs with you using a Powerbook and a Magma chassi... Ordered a MPC Key 37 some days ago, will be very convenient, doing sketching and composing anywhere, and then bring it back home and open it up for further work in the MPC software on the computer etc. Lovely! Yes, can do that in a laptop already, though I am a player from the beginning, so having things hands on, like in the old days, while sketching and composing is still superior to me in certain situations.

@jfn467 that's insane, I have a S950, ASR-10, MPC 3000 amd so on. I'd kill for a n MPC 60, nothing wrong with a 60 at all. I'd never ditch hardware samplers for pro tools myself, there's literally zero benefit and it's not any easier to flip break beats for jungle or make boom bap on a DAW imho plus it sounds God awful without 30 plugins which will cripple even a gaming pc. But to each there own.

@jfn467 If you love the sound of the machines and want to just flip samples in a relatively basic way old samplers are more hassle to imitate with software than just running the original hardware (things like the interpolation aren't included in 12bit sampler imitating software, neither is time stretch, it's a seperate app called akaiser, and you also need a DAC emulation too, that's already 4 separate disjointed plugins, and one that doesn't work in a daw and is an entire standcaline app and weve not even got unto the vinyl, clipping the input on the sampler input, the emulation of the mixing desk or any of that yet - say hello to plugin hell + subscription services for life with no physical product and all just to emulate simple easy to use reliable and fixable machines), if you don't make hip hop or jungle or any very basic sample based music that generally sounds better from a 12 bit machine especially for the drums, then I understand, if you use vst synths and so on than yeah totally understandable.
