Indian fathers are known for their toughness and as disciplinarian mostly for boys to train them as men. Who can take responsibility, has a strong spine ( metaphorically), so boys do not share their vulnerability with their dads. On the other hands they don't show toughness for girl child, that's the work of mother to discipline daughters for their role in life. That's why girls are comfortable sharing thoughts with father and boys with mother.

The analysis is pretty accurate. My parents migrated to USA 30 years back when I was in 4th grade. We came here with 3 other families, all my mom’s siblings. Today we are all well settled. Living the American Dream you can say. My bother, sister and all of our cousins all have high income jobs and do pretty well. The one thing I remember is our parents emphasizing the importance of completing higher education and obtain a high salary job. Now that we all have children, we encourage the next generation to do better than what we did. I teach my kids the skills that I know they will need to be on the top of the food chain. We also help each other out weather it’s emotional, financial or cultural. Keep it simple. Treat others the way you want to be treated (not a new saying but very important one).

As an Indian, education is not an option, it's mandatory. All other skills or extra curricular activities are the add-ons. So when the kids are at the age of 16-18 they have multiple options to decide in which area they want to lead their life. That's why Indians are everywhere in the world in all types of occupation, business, sports etc. Proud to be an Indian 😊

I'am a lower middle class indian and from my experience most of the things about parents is true. especially sacrificing lives and carrers for their children well being. they support their children till their last moment. family values and relatives stuff is also true. children sometimes might feel parents are being little tough or breaching their freedom. I feel child knows the value of the efforts put by his/her parents into his future well being much later. Also with all this comes expectations and mental disturbance for some people. there's an whole other side to this story.

@@LaughOutLoudLOL7777 that's mother greatness but from child's perspective when one becomes adult and if he had seen parents struggling to make tough decisions and finally bet everything beyond their capacity on child's future. At a point he feels everything he has till now is some kind of sacrifice of his parents. somehow he tries to compensate that by making them happy , basically by making them financially stable and stress free. this all comes into picture if you are in low economic and social status. if socio and economic status is solid then these issues might seem alien. atleast in my place I see people going through this and I did too.

Father-daughter and Mother-son relationship is so true.. i have also observed my circle and felt it.. My mother is so close to me that i would even share my crush, girlfriend's details, someone bullying me etc. Parents' experi3nce is generally very useful in dealing with problems that you may not know how to handle gracefully but a female can use masculine energy and male can have a feminine energy guiding them which makes a lot more stable... only time my father stepped in and talked to me was when it was an absolute emergency (a very serious breakup and slipping into a near depression experience) Also, hobbies and creativity go hand in hand with STEM. Many punjabi families insist on learning singing, instruments or dance (maybe all) as it helps grow your brain.. research shows being able to play atleast one instrument help your thinking ability and learning ability as it helps you see a different perspective. Its like being able to think from a different dimension

One can pursue passion along with mainstream STEM professional careers. Even thousands of years back, Indian culture never ignored math and science. Indian temples are great examples of STEM skills and art. We know how to maintain a balance. I have two uncles; one is a doctor, another is an engineer, and both are highly acclaimed writers and recipients of the prestigious 'Sahitya Akademi Award (in literature). All my cousins are in STEM while pursuing their passion for music, dance, and theatre. Leading by example, they encouraged me to pursue my passion for painting, and supported me with everything I needed; but not at the cost of mainstream education. I am thankful to them that now I have a steady mainstream career and I am also an artist.

13:20 That is true. Most Indian parents (if they can afford) will encourage their kids to try many different things. For instance, I learned to play guitar only because of my dad. He put me to classes forcibly. I also played table tennis thanks to my dad again. That being said, most Indian parents do not view these creative/sports fields as valid career options. They want you to pick up healthy hobbies, mostly for fostering creativity, building essential values and as a good way to chill after work. The academic focus is always on STEM and when time is of the essence, they'd themselves ask the kids to focus more on studies and less on hobbies (even zero!)

This is absolutely true, Indian Fathers treat their sons with a soft corner in heart but tough hand from the outside to make them tought to handle the unexpected things of the world whereas the same father treats his daughter like flower petals, promoting and taking her sides even if she is on the incorrect side. Opposite to that, when father is tough to their sons, mother comes to their rescue. Son feel close to their mother because they can share most of the things to their mothers and hesitate to resiprocate same with their father. So, it is nearly accurate that point

In india you will see when ppl are young they do party, travel and sometimes crazy and reckless things but as soon as ppl get kids they first discipline themselves to raise kids properly and it’s because our parents did it for us. We see it as a lifetime obligation to raise a proper child -and yes there is a cost but we have trained for this by seeing our own surrounding and we take is as a life long responsibility and I think that thinking doesn’t let it burden us.. mostly parents do it happily.

13:28 yes everything is FOCUS on STEM but most indian parents would still send their kids for swimming, musical instrument class, karate classes, dance classes. what they do is they want you to see STEM as money Point index while other activity as way to love yourself or find inner talent (that parents can show off to other relatives and neighbors 😂) my dad was scared i would get drowned yet i went for swimming for 2 years... my dad NEVER let me go for school trips because there were many cases were kids would die in car crash or kidnapped and lost... still when i turned 15 and on last school trip he let me go jaipur. not to mention he spend over $500 todays currency to by me right suitcase, clothes, clothes for dance performance. he literally spend 1000$ of current time money on that one school trip. he is a tiger parent too but he also saw me punching air so he bought me punching bag 6ft with leather gloves which i STILL HAVE IT and use it. and mind you i am not in america i am in india... i'm just saying the parenthood isn't gonna change that much. and yes boys get closer to their mother more. i mean my mom knows every single girl that i am friends or been bf of.

I disagree with the creative field. While most parents encourage their kids in India including mine to explore different things when they are in school. it all stops once they are done with high school. Things turn into a sharp left and especially if you're doing academically well, the amount of persuasion you get from your family and relatives to choose either Engineering or medicine is enormous. It was the same in my case too. But, my parents supported my decision to pursue a career in Life Sciences. We or most of us choose careers based on the type of high-paying job we get. Not, because we love studying it.

When divorce rates are low, it indicates greater stability and longevity in marriages, fostering stronger family units and providing a sense of security for children. Low divorce rates also imply reduced emotional and financial burdens associated with the legal process, such as the division of assets, alimony, and child custody battles. Furthermore, low divorce rates contribute to a more cohesive society by promoting social stability as intact families often provide a solid foundation for community... development and support networks. Lastly, lower divorce rates can potentially lead to improved mental and physical health outcomes for individuals, as they may experience less stress and trauma associated with the dissolution of a marriage.

So she has taken Drama as an elective subject in the school and she is active part of high-school musical club but she is learning Sci-Tech with Science and technology as major. So that’s a balance and plan A plan B type of arrangement.

We are deeply rooted to our tradition. We do live with our parents even after marriage bcoz we want them in every decision, in Every phase of life with that they share experience to take good decision in our life.they correct us every steps. Indians first priority is always family..some of the countries are also saying that we are developed but our families are getting distorted with the time.

Say that indian men live with their parents after marriage because women are expected to leave their parents and move to someone's house and treat his parents as her own. So it's not that indians live with parents after marriage, just Indian men who do.

@@prerna2304 it happens... But not everyone is the same...nowadays I think indian men don't differentiate between their parents and inlaws... Yeah.. they do love their parents more.. but .. don't mind their inlaws living with them in later half of their life... My maternal grandmother lived with us for sometime...but she wanted to live with her son..The problem is indian mothers are attached to their sons more than their daughters.. so they basically end up with their sons at old age..

I am an India American. I have always been more close to my dad. He was my best friend, mentor, guide, and confidant. I felt that he understood me more than my mom. So I can relate to the comment that Indian fathers are their daughters’ best friend. My sister had similar equation with my dad. Not sure how this is true on macro-level.

Its true that in india children go to lot of creative skills classes .But as Syntell said they are supposed to be good at their studies too.And mostly children attend these creative classes up until they are in 12th and usually not after that
@SC-hp5dn
@SC-hp5dn Жыл бұрын
I would say Syntell got it spot on ! Most of the things he disagrees with are true. The point made about cost of children's well being is very true so is the divorce one. In most parts of India divorce is still a taboo and people are often scared to leave the security of marriage due to social conditioning. Low divorce rates might not be proofs of happy marriage like Syntell pointed out. About tolerating other religions and castes, well I can only say not all parents are the same. While they never teach to disrespect another culture, race or religion there is always a strong warning given right from childhood about marrying into a different one. The children, due to the naiveté of young age often see it as this other culture is bad, and end up being hostile to different groups among peers. Confiding about secrets to their parents is another point maybe the generation Z might be able to relate with but for us 90's kids it wasn't true at all. In fact most of our parents would miss out on 50% of our lives and experiences because they wouldn't approve of our choices and therefore we would share anything with them.

Spot on, these videos(not Jaby)are making huge generalized statements to win likes and views. I think the main reason(out of many) that our Indian brothers and sisters are doing better than average Americans because they are cream of the cream at what they do, that's why they are represented pretty much only in one sector. Expats in all around world always earn better than the average citizen of that country. In fact, they should be earning more. Because a white person with the same talent will most likle be paid even better.

In India marriage is not of individuals, its saying its marriage of 2 families. Collective family supports in multitasking, care & in times of hardships.. Unlike no bonds its much more better at least have some peoples by your side.

Yes in India , father cry more than mother when daughters are married off , same as mom's love towards son. Don't get wrong that parents love equal or not equal . It is the fact that both love them equally but something is called an extra over the top attachment. Mom's love their son as their success define the mom's standard and stature in society. Daughter is good valued then father's image is boosted . i guess you might have got that .

I am in the US since 1986 and now I am a grand father of two beautiful girls (each son has one). I am kind of semi retired. My son who lives in Denver called us to babysit her daughter while he has to go out. Even this coming weekend, we are primarily going to baby sit while they attend wedding due to 'no kids' allowed policy during the wedding. This time, I asked my younger son to join as well with her daughter and make a family event where girls bond with each others. Who is going pay - I will take a majority chunk but that nothing when it comes to my family. Bottomline, we sacrifice time and money for the sake of family. We teach values and respect to elders. Last weekend my younger son who lives near me left her two year old daughter with me for two days/nights while they were out. This how you attached to them. Also, what I learned that kids may not listen but copy you (like yoga etc) so you figure out what you want them to teach - Lead by example is sure way to succussed.

In india there is concept of mom's boy to show the bond between a mother and her son. other is dad's princess to show bond between father and his daughter. every girl in india love their father more and trying to find same qualities in their life partner while a boy is trying to find same qualities in their partner that is in his mother.

Its not Stem or creative stuff, its common to do have a focus on Stem say, and then growing up you do dance, singing, music, and sports(cricket/hocky/socker). And Yes parents sacrifice for there children and children sacrifice for them too. As 3rd gen brit-indian, i can say most of the positive stats are all due to family/support(each other)/socializing etc I think these things help with stress and mental strength more.

As an Indian Mom I spend most of my time with my kids education,dance practices,Musical sessions from age 7,sports ,Instilling cultural values by being friendly with them,taking to vacations to India on a regular basis just they don't loose connection with ancestors,Family,and relatives.on a daily basis .On every indian visit going to one Holy place is a must so that they know the value of culture.Teaching the Regional language and speaking only regional languages at home (Now a days kids learn languages from dramas in hindi,telugu,tamil etc),rather than English,In a nut shell watching their behavior in a subtle way on adaily basis and when you see changes talk to them about these.

Yes for the context here, usually mothers were not educated so it’s really tough to share our outside real life worries to mother because mom always comes with protective angle on daughters because she is scared of outer dangers so fathers come into rescue to make us stronger and break those rules from mothers and bring a change in our life so girls confide to fathers because they want us to withstand the problems of life and still work and achieve things
