I had travelled to Russia from India on 21st August 2023, along my son as he was get admission in a college there. My visa was tourist, our consultant said we need to book accomodation after reaching Kursk state. That was where my son would be studing. I was held at immigration for almost 5 hours. There were asking for a Russian phone no. Then college authorities called them and confirmed gave a number. Then after 2 hours they left. I was travelling first time out of country.

100% correct, they have every right to refuse visa while applying however rejecting entry for frivolous reasons is absolutely disgraceful. Visa officer has every right to refuse however this should be avoided at all costs.

Immigration officers of a country have all the right to deny an individual entry to their respective country if they have little doubt about the traveller's intention of travelling to their country. It is a standard process. It goes for every other country in the world including India. Many of these people who are denied entry will never tell both of the stories. It is usually one-sided. Everybody knows why all of a sudden a lot of newbies and young individuals from India are travelling to Russia. Long story short: stop playing the victim card. Make sure you plan your travel well in advance with all the required supporting documents.

Nobody disputes if they deny someone who is coming to break the visa rules but purely denying on suspicion should be raised. They just started E-visa for Indians as they need money/support/genuine travellers. Russia is 20 years behind in easing the processes so lets not defend their wrong actions. Indians need to raise their voice whenever sth wrong happens due to bias/racism otherwise we continue to be treated like this.

I travelled solo last month (August 2023) to Russia first time and I haven't faced such situation. In fact, it was very smooth compared to other countries. They haven't even asked me about hotel or return tickets. They only inquire from suspicious traveler by monitoring their activities in CCTV cameras.

From dubai recently I go albania by flight than to North Macedónia,,serbia, montegero , Bosnia by bus . No question asked on land and flight border . Russia is not good and also immigration officer also rude . Due to sanctions Russia is hard to travel since usd ,euros and also card not working. If you have valid documentation there is no chances of getting deported. I travelled moscow first time they checked my travel history, checked my visa everything went smoothly. In city i was enquired by police once they asked me passport, visa, immigration card & registration card (invitation letter). If you have valid documentation no problem at all.😊
