You are lucky because all the dhaam, Kailash, Badrinath...Prayaag, Vrindavan, Puri, Rameshwaram, Udupi, Kaveri, Sri Rangam, the list is endless....there is a lot to learn in your own country. Swach Bhaarat is the moto. The essence of life is hidden behind all these so called daily problems due to overpopulation. Lekin aap log bahut lucky ho jo ki aap ke janam Bharat mein hua hein. My parents are Mauritian (I'm British born so I identify as British). The ancestors of the Mauritian people who came from India initially settled as labourers on five-year contracts, after which they could return to India...but only if they could afford it, or else remain in Mauritius and receive government land (EDIT: the government would foot the bill for their return if they served another five years, but after ten years away from India I suppose the desire to return had already diminished for most anyway). That's what a lot of them chose to do as they had no certain futures returning to India, especially as most of them were escaping economic crises when they chose to leave initially. Saying that, some DID return. Later, trader Indians came over to establish businesses in Mauritius and nearby Reunion and South Africa (and parts of East Africa), as their trades would appeal to the already-established settlements there

@@PriyankaSharma-cw2jb Generally speaking, ok. However Brits made sure that over 95% of land in Fiji be native owned. This means most Indians live on leased land, they only own the actual house, not the land. This has been cause for concern, and as native peoples got educated, realised that Indians are foreigners living in their country. Educated natives have staged a few coups to take over parliament and divide the country on race grounds. For last 30 years many Indians have left Fiji for good, to AUS, NZ, Canada, and US. Apart from all this Fiji is an awesome and friendly country. On the whole native people are very friendly and have adapted Indian ways somewhat.

@@bethells86 Unlike in Trinidad and Tobago, E. Indian indentured servants were given land after their 5 yr contract, some signed up for another 5 yrs and received more land. Meanwhile the africans exslaves got nothing.

Suriname, Trinidad&Tobago and Guyana same history. Only Suriname was Dutch colony. Humara bhasa hai Bhojpuri (UP & Bihar ka) Suriname we speak Dutch, one of the many languages (Indonesian, African, Native, Hindi and Sanskrit with lots of other dialects) Modi Ji visited Suriname before he became PM of Bharat. My nana-nani / adja adji and their parents never called our roots India, they knew the country as Bharat. Modi ji visited also Netherland where lots of Surinamese Bharatiyon live like me. Mauritius is more comparable with Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana. So many other countries represent our Bharat culture for last 145 or more years. That was the proud of Modi ji's speach.

I am from Trinidad and Tobago. Very similar scenarios. English is the language commonly spoken. About 150,000 indentured Indians were brought here since 1845.

Good due British indians spread all around asia which is good thing that all of them love india and have soft corner for their country of origin inspite harsh realities they faced in the beginning of their migration.
