Revision is so essential to good writing. George Saunders said two things he has noted that separate talented writers that go on to publish from those who don’t are: 1) ability to create causality 2) a willingness to revise

The most famous living Romanian writer, Mircea Cărtărescu claims to only write a single draft. No revisions. He just sits and writes what comes to him. His recently translated book into English, Solenoid is 675 pages. After listening to a couple of interviews and looking at his output, i don't think hes lying. Wonder if you've checked out his work. If so, does he pass the good writing vibe check?

I have to disagree with Wallace on the inward voice. The easiest way to do an impression of someone different from myself is literally to voice them aloud. But that's only after I've revised something. First I type a quick outline of a short passage. Then I rewrite it on paper. Then I type it again while reading it aloud. Those are three different vibes that complement each other. This very comment would read better if I wasn't just typing it.
