Seriously. Politics at any level are impacting our daily lives. It could be something as simple as church politics to who gets elected to run your school districts and your local government. To say that sports are exempt from this is incredibly naive. Even the politics of sports is what caused rampant FIFA corruption, be it the ExCo or something like MLB turning a blind eye to PED use in the late 90s to late 2000s.

Here are some the things are absolutely wrong in this video: 1- Sardar Azmoun was never in danger of not being part of the team, his Instagram post/story wasn't about people on the streets getting killed but about one particular speech of one of the hard right speakers of the regime named Hasan Abbasi who insulted the players and their families. The final list of the team was postponed because the regime wanted Siavash Yazdani and some other players who had truly sympathized with the movement, off the squad and Carlos wholeheartedly obliged. At the moment former national team players Voria Ghafouri and Parviz Borumand have been arrested and are in prison. 2- Ali Karimi hasn't been in UAE for some weeks and he is now residing somewhere in Canada, the reason for the move was that he had received death threats from the Islamic Republic and there was also a plot to kidnap him. With UAE being a very good friend to Iran's current regime, he had to move. So I don't who it was that you had reached for a comment. 3- The team went to a meeting with the President, some of the players bowed down to him and one of them asked for him to pray for their victory. The current President signed the death of almost 4000 people in the summer of 1988 and he was voted to office in Iran's least democratic election ever and didn't even manage to get a quarter of people to vote for him. So a team that goes to meet this garbage can't really be with the people on the streets now, can it? 4- After the whole team said in the conferences that all they care about is football and they can't comment on anything else, Mehdi Taremi went as far as saying he doesn't care about the current crisis in Iran, Ehsan Hajsafi only pointed a little to the situation when the regime lied and said some of the deaths, including the nine year old Kian Pirfalak, was the work of terrorist which has been proven wrong. 5- They may not have sang the anthem in the first game but in the second game they not only sang it but they celebrated both their goals while the at the same IRGC troops were killing people in cities of Zahedan, Bookan, Mahabad and ... We are literally dying every day here, so when you want to report on Iran's current situation, please please please get your facts straight.
@shampoocousin

1. Not true. Literally zero evidence regarding Yazdani. On the other hand, those with actual sources within the govt (like Hatam Shiralizadeh) reported how Azmoun was facing the risk of being excluded. 2. They probably reached out to Karimi through social media or through intermediaries a while ago. 3. The entire team didn't go meet Raisi, 8 players did. It was a forced propoganda picture (much like the photos Ahmadinejad has with Karimi and the team before 2006 world cup). Also they never bowed to him; you can literally look up video from the day and it is clear. 4. "the whole team" never said anything like that at all. Taremi was literally to first of TM players to post about Mahsa, the first out of any of the iranian legionnares to wear black arm band for mahsa, and the first that did not celebrate goals. He has never said that he doesn't care about the situation in iran; he has said, after family pressure (his father and older sister being hardcore conservative muslims), that he is a footballer and don't ask him about politics. Also, you are forgetting comments from majid hosseini and saman ghoddos made; the latter stating that the people in Iran are fighting for freedom and there must be a change. Also you are talking nonsense about Ehsan Hajsafi. For the love of god stop getting your news solely from Saudi International. 5. They did not sing the national anthem before the first game AND also took a knee (after the Kneel for mahsa campaign)...after that there was STILL khars like you leaving ridiculous comments on social media. Now CNN is reporting how the players and their families have been threatened if they speak out or or say anything against the government. This is our team. The boys (except for Amiri and Torabi) despise the regime. You can call them to our side and ask them to support us more; or on the other hand, you can act like a buffoon, attack them needlessly, and turn them into a symbol for IR. It is clear with your idiotic statements what side you have chosen.

I despise the Islamic Republic and love Team Melli. There is no contradiction in this-it can be done. Your list doesn’t show factual inaccuracies at all. Rather it’s coloring the facts with your bias to separate this football team from the people. I respect your point of view. But I can’t share it. Our players are trying to bring pride to their compatriots by being successful on the world stage while operating within very tricky and personally dangerous conditions. There are no easy answers here.

@@shampoocousin Using a Tasnim journalist as your source, you know the literal arm of IRGC, makes you an untrustworthy person. Taremi said his black wristband was for Arba'een. Them using the wrong Ali Karimi photo on top of not knowing where he is right now makes me question their journalistic integrity. The whole team didn't say those things, only Ansarifard, Jahanbakhsh, Ghodus, Taremi and ... you know the ones who had a chance to talk to the press. The whole kneeling thing in the first game was just photo op when we consider their attitude in the second. The CNN report sites only one source which means it's probably bogus. This is totally the regime's team, they've spent upwards of 2 million dollars to send their chosen fans, the cops who has been killing kids for two month danced when they beat Wales and the regime has worked hand in hand with Qatar to threaten and maybe kidnap whomever they consider a "bad apple". Time to get real man. And calling a majority of your country men donkey doesn't sound like something an adult would do.

@@Parsa7 Fascist regimes always use sports teams as their tool. This is totally the regime's team, they've spent upwards of 2 million dollars to send their chosen fans, the cops who has been killing kids for two month danced when they beat Wales and the regime has worked hand in hand with Qatar to threaten and maybe kidnap whomever they consider a "bad apple". These guys are cowards, the real brave ones are the people like Elnaz Rekabi who have less money and opportunity than these football players and yet they chose to stand with their people.

@@shampoocousin You're so wrong about Taremi as he's connected to the regime reaping it's bloodied rewards. Taremi said he doesn't want to get involved in "politics" when we're witnessing crimes against humanity, human rights abuses and humanitarian crisis! Taremi has also shared quotes of the godfather of mass murderers Khamenei about wiping Israel off the map and other topics, is that not "politics"??? 🤔

BTW they totally sang their entire national anthem for the USA game, so almost all the reasons while still valid in this video made no difference when playing a different opponent. I wonder if the Iranian govt got to the their players and their families.
