Guests:
Mukesh Kapila - World Health Organization advisor on antimicrobial resistance. Professor Emeritus, Global Health and Humanitarian Affairs, University of Manchester.

Misuse of antibiotics is the major cause of antibiotics resistance. Most Doctors in India unnecessarily prescribe heavy antibiotics in huge doses for a long period of time.

And independently of climate change: the lack of sanitation, lack of water, the malnutrition, the presence of diseases, the wars, the misuse of antibiotics, the lack of to know which kind of microorganism to treat the infection … everything is already a problem. Climate is amplified the crise. And we can have new and dangerous microorganisms happening, with the lack of the biodiversity, with the melting of permafrost, the brutal change of temperatures. Another risk ? Bio weapons 😣 Then think in vírus again.

Should be added the amount of processed foods that people eat. Not an expert but I know that adds up to that somehow.

Climate change also increases spread of vectors out of the formerly small hot areas. I'm thinking mainly of certain species of mosquitoes, but also many more vectors.
