Bo2 had something for everyone. Something recents cods just don’t have. It had a nice zombies, a good multiplayer and a stellar campaign. Zombies wasn’t overly convoluted with bs mechanics, you could use most guns in bo2 and not feel severely disadvantaged. Shotgunners could shotgun, snipers could snipe, lmgs were viable, and reg gunners could do their thing. It was peak balance nearly. The campaign flowed properly, made sense and it was interesting. Bo2 was the last cod that was for everyone. It was in my opinion, the last cod of the golden era of cod.

I feel super sad thinking that I will never get that feeling again of when I was a 12 yo kid and got this game on launch , rushed home to play it and experienced the masterpiece it was for the very first time. Watching a bunch of youtube videos every day from my favorite creators to check out what's the meta, testing out different scorestreaks, playing tranzit for the first time (even though it was ass, I still had fun until I realized it was ass), grinding for levels to be the first prestige master among my friends, grinding for camos. Black Ops 2 was my first CoD game. I was never big into FPS and just grabbed it on a whim. And im so glad i did. The game was my whole life for years. That said, im not sure whether this being my first CoD is a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand having your intro into the series being a masterpiece is amazing. On the other hand it set the bar way too high and no other CoD has matched it since 😂

I do remember watching Vanoss Religiously back in 2013-2016. I remember playing BO2 Online Fully and I had my favourite gun, the type 25. I played weeks after release after my second oldest brother got it. It was first real taste of online play. The Xbox Live Ran out my brothers were struggling and they sold the game. I was disappointed but satisfied, first off I played through the campaign when we didn’t have Online which is fine. I had access to KZbin to watch all the playthroughs and content especially Vanoss. BO2 was the first experience of all of us enjoying a game together, I got over my BO1 Zombies shock (I was 7) and remember looking at the case not terrified at all. Another memory I had going over one of my cousins house and they had ALL the DLC’s my little ass was fawning over it. I was down to play anything as they had everything 😂. Fast Forward now I’ve been skipping out on COD for 2-3 years now. I’m glad you acknowledged the Gems of BO3 and MW2019 which I fully played through all of their cycles. BO3 was my “Last” COD I bought it used with my birthday money at a GameStop then later I had bought the Season pass that was my first time ever clawing a Receipt. Played BO3 throughout middle school and yes I had also gotten Chronicles as well! Infinite Warfare was a Close one as we knew it was with MWR so it was an obvious skip (I did my part disliking the Trailer at the time). 🫡 High school hit done with my Freshman year another COD set to release… but this time it was MW2019. The hype was unreal I bought into it too! First time asking my mom for a game as I have game shared with many of my friends. Played throughout until season 3 and is when I took a break. I did my final COD Stint with MW2 2022 I bought all the promos and the vault edition I played only for a Month… Every COD i started playing Campaign as it was the only thing I had available yet playing it gives you context about the location and which part connects. MW2019 was a Dark/grounded Story different contrast of we had seen before. COD is not what’s it use to be 2007-2012 were Golden ages. BO3 and MW2019 were the Modern Standouts in the 8th Generation of Consoles. As my older brothers grew up the start and end of 7th Generation.

I was a squeaker when this game came out, but my god I absolutely loved this game. The first cod game I truly sunk my teeth into and I remember all of the Vanoss videos and I loved them. I absolutely loved zombies, especially buried, mob, and origins. Although I made all the worst decisions in the campaign, I found it fun too. Not just going through random sections and killing people every mission. Also the story was so fascinating. Multiplayer was absolutely amazing too with great maps like hijacked and Nuketown, as well as Slums, Raid, Grind, Rush and so many more fantastic maps. Although there are other games in contention for my favorite in the series, my childhood memories with this game will always make it my favoirte

Disclaimer, nobody asked This game is my favorite in short because of three simple reasons the campaign was perfect, a fun and engaging story with multiple endings and even the ability to customize your loadout before every mission. Every single multiplayer map was the shit. The guns were bad ass. The zombie maps were iconic my personal favorite buried with that wonderful song that played with the Easter egg. And of course, the movement in the game was perfect.

Well I guess from a first BO1 player as my entry to CoD, I would say: from guns standpoint, many guns were still licensed and everything felt right when guns used, to add on for multiplayer, it also felt like you could actually take a couple to few hits within a gun fight and still recover. The movement wasn't so lucrative and not fckn ADHD Timmy now, and even then, i say i give it points BC of how in Ghost BC of the intro to the slide mechanic which I liked more than ig "drop kill" but still movement felt like buggy traversing and BO1 wasn't smooth, and MW3 was mostly played on flat surfaces except design-like stairs (escalator and rails, agriculture built w a stair-like frame) BO2 although had different terrain, it felt like my character can go through that and even weirder trainer w ease like it was life like soldier or even an average-fit person that can manage terrain. Now can't compare to games that weren't boots-on-the-ground BC of the future tech movement and gameplay and guns, but for boots on the ground 👍 From a zombies standpoint I truly can't say except DLC zombies was super fun. For standard play...I have to say it's the least fun of all zombies except Farm maybe BC it can be v tense for a compact map. But the idea of a main map broken up into its own playable areas are super creative I have to admit. I think the idea they had in mind from many times playing over and over is that yeah, you got the gun everyone wants to use sure BUT they wanted to make certain guns shine better on other maps. Pump action isn't fun in Town but v fun in Bus Depot or the how the crossbow PP to me isn't good on Farm but good on Town but not as much on bus BDepot BC easily can get from behind compared to Town and Farm. And I believe to me the guns used to climb them rounds on them separately did matter which what makes zombies to me have this point. I can't say much other than Die Rise is always fun until you miss your jump or elevator direction BC you can get lost easily 🫠🫠🫠🫠 it truly felt like a "Cotton-Eye Joe" moment w this map but hey end of the day, still lots of fun nonetheless BC I wasn't really aiming for high rounds, just enjoyed traversing differently through the map and having different ways to interact to get to places (climbing, engaging w elevator, jump pad and having that one area where you REALLY gotta have enough stamina and timing for the jump/dolphin dive). Having the 2-hit down health system for this map wasn't a good idea compared to the other maps and either then, the other maps sometimes actually do 3 hits before down so it's kinda nice rng here and there. Nothing much to say on maps except loved Yacht w my wholeheart. The only maps that had good map design I still stand on is BO1 for how interactions can be held in open areas leading to locating and possibly chasing. Hell, for character selection they had really thought in mind for map interaction tbh. Gun class was v fun but much preferred Ghosts gun creation which wasn't lucrative detailed but more modernly varied for the time and how they used MW3s class system and made it so much rewarding and better. But all guns felt right and there wasn't one Id gravitate to over another (except the peacekeeper...) and speaking on gun class, the score streaks were v nice. Much to use for different play styles but yeah: my in-depth reasons why I love BO2. Oh and to add on the the multiplayer, I would say that it was more fun to join a losing game and still come close or win and here the comms or everyone talking their sh!t and do i NEED to say the split screen days and monetization wasnt greedy asf and how their was still so much creativity invested in the game w the emblem creator and fckn Clan Wars 😭😭😭😭 they say you don't know you have it until it's gone-passes.

Cant say too much on campaign since i was never one to play the campaign for CoD, but would for Battlefields. But evenly gun play and matchmaking is what i believe drove this game to the high praise 💪 it gets still to this day.

I never liked cod bo2, the shooting and the graphics looked really and felt cartoony to me, even as a kid, i never really liked the class customization the guns and perks did not feel good to me, like deadass the multiplayer was not fun for me either idk how so many people preferred it, and the zombies i played a lot but was literally only because of my friends, i always thought the cod zombies storyline was really dumb and the whole zombies thing with waves i did not like, cause after like 5 rounds if you didn’t know what to do you’d just die cause the zombies were already OP, not even lying COD ghost i really liked and thought the graphics looked better then bo2’s i never knew why people said bo2’s graphics looked better, and the class customization i liked wayyy more on that, being able to make your own character and the perks being way more in detailed on what they do to make more specific and detailed classes and the multiplayer was better too, with field missions or whatever they were called, it was fun tryna do a little side mission and get rewarded for it, and because of the class customization with either having score streaks or obtaining more perks as score streaks and specialist was really fun being able to troll people with specialist items and getting better perks to just make you unstoppable as you killed more people was just more fun, and custom games were better on ghost too you could customize so much and you didn’t have to unlock stuff first in order to be able to use it in a custom game like every other cod you could just hop in a game with whatever camo and attachments even if you didn’t own them and then go grind them if you liked those guns or camos and one custom game i really liked to play a lot was having max bots on the enemy team and setting them to the lowest rank and giving them nothing but a knife then players were only allowed one gun which had to be whatever pistol you want with any attachments and perks and then you get the specialist streaks and get any score streaks you like from that usually ammo packs a bullet proof vest to survive 1 knife and whatever else and set the score to infinite and time limit to whatever you want and just go into any map you want with your friends or by yourself and you could all go against eachother seeing who got the most kills or just work together and just go to town on the nooby bots, it felt like zombies but without the dumbass zombies being OP and no perks needed in order to just survive, cause usually my friends and i would play that game mode we accidentally invented while testing out guns i was messing around and we all thought it was pretty fun, it would be super hectic and then your score streaks the bots could destroy them or end up taking them like if you had a juggernaut and die after placing it, you’d just have some super buffed up bot running around with a gun and would be hard to kill, the only way you can get an actual gun besides having a pistol was with one of the crates that gave you a random gun with attachments, sometimes the guns would be really good and usualful or just straight up bad and goofy like a magnum with a acog scope, trust if anyone still had cod ghost get some friends or even just by yourself and try this gamemode out it’s really fun and really customizable as long as you stick to the rules of only having a knife and pistol and being on the specialist score streaks then slowly earning those streaks and getting better guns, and damn idk maybe it was just nostalgia looking back, but cod ghost was really fun and memorable for me, deadass my favorite cod and i miss extinction i remember trying to beat them all with my friends since the story was easy to get into and not too complex like dumbass zombies where you gotta find a random brick or set the time to 11 or whatever, all of that was just goofy i just wanted a game that was easy and fun to enjoy not homework because i remember i really use to like zombies in WAW before i found out how the game really was with all the rounds stuff but for real, i still hate cod bo2 never understood the hype nor thought it was that good even now years later

i mean sure it’s a classic. but that’s your opinion man, but if you were there from the beginning you would know that MW2 (2009) and Black ops 1 (2010) was the peak. even back then i had a feeling black ops 2 was just leaning in for kids with its cartoonish graphics. going towards a style that i didn’t like. looking back it’s crazy to think bo2 was someone’s first cod. anyone’s first CoD is gonna be there favorite though, that’s how our minds worked when we were young.

Yeah, MW2 and BO1, definitely peak time for cod. BO2 has been comercialized and stated the beginning of downfall for cod. People blame Ghosts for being shit But reality is different. Also same if people think today BO6 is great then let them rethink twice before they something say about... For me Bo1 is an all round S tier game just perfect. The guns, maps, music, campaign, zombies, DLC's just whole package is perfect to me. That being said.. Bo2 was the single most fun I've ever had gaming. KZbinrs at the time, friends I had at the time, zombies EE runs, multiplayer, late night search lobby's, buying all the $1.99 camos that worked on EVERY gun. The DLC hype videos. The peacekeeper. COME ON Campaign was not my favorite.. Zombies had its moments started rough with transit, but multiplayer was too good it got us all through the DLCs were great and every zombies map just got better and better.. most don't like buried and die rise but I think both are A to S tier even still but we also got Mob and Origins straight S tier maps come on.. I don't think well ever get games even close to the OG Cods these older Cods had passion behind them every map had spirit every gun, reload, EE. There was so much packed in there its definitely not just nostalgia these games were objectively great we all made life long friends on these games and had way too many memories packed in there I'm glad I got to experience the God tier Cods and made the amazing friends i have to this day W games cant change my mind.

Maybe it's just my algorithm or something but I've noticed a lot more videos about black ops 2 in the last couple months (this game is 12 years old now) than I have in the 6 years before that. Not complaining though because this is my favorite game and can relate so much to everything you touched on, including the Vanoss videos. Black ops cold war legitimately is a top 3 call of duty for me solely because it brought back a bunch of Bo2 maps, that's how powerful the nostalgia from this game was.

I honestly prefer the multiplayer of Infinite over most other CoD games, but that's also because I enjoy the fast paced shooter aspect and love the idea of changing weapons
