Dainsleif doesn't bear any grudge against Lumine, and that's why he failed to protect the eye of the first field tiller, because he hesitated to strike her. But at the end of Lumine's journey, it probably went down differently if she also fought him there. If he's more than just a bough keeper and he's gatekeeping something, or someone, then he must've stopped Lumine from getting what she was after, which is why she views him as her enemy. If their ideals or goals clash, suddenly they must cross blades and i assume that's what happened. His line "defeat me, command me to step aside, show me that you are worther and i to rescue her" implies that Dainsleif is protecting someone at the end of the journey in the sea of flowers. And perhaps that person that Dain is protecting, was the same person Lumine wanted to cut down for some reason.

Capitano and dottore or even powerful and surpass the strongest characters into that and harbinger in their delusion forms like Childe singnora and alreccino delusion form and I imagine how it played out is very similar to what we see with Mauvika and Capitano because you gotta remember the opening scene the twins are able to fly and had wings and fight the unknown god which we now know as asmoday I imagine the fight went down with lumine flying while Dainslef wall running like a titanfall pilot very similarly to mauvika and the captain aka il captaino

Dain is definitely still has many secrets he’s keeping from us, and perhaps one such secret, when revealed to our sibling caused their belief and trust in him to disappear. we still know very little of the details surrounding the cataclysm and the roles Dainsleif and the sinners played in it, if we had that context, maybe we too would come to see Dain in a different light?

I believe Dainsleif is the trope of "knowledgable deceiver". The archons are cryptic or can only offer so much info. Dainsleif comes along and just gives an abundance of info, and tells us to distrust the gods. He knows so much and shares what he needs to share. In the end, he's the one in the know, who knows what he is keeping from us?

I think we will come to a vastly different opinion at the end of our journey. Our Sibling Travelled the world while the ripples of the cataclysm were still fresh. All the regions were probably still corrupted and their Archons were probably greatly weakened we don't know where the sea of flowers is in the map but it is probably located near khaneriah or beyond khaneriah since it is said the those flowers are the national flower of Khaneriah. I think it was then that the abyss took over our sibling. Dain himself was also afflicted by the abyss so it is possible that both their memories were altered in some way. Now why I think we would come to a different conclusion be is because our journey leads us to face the next cataclysm not the other way around. And due to being a descender we are immune to the abyss corrosion. And Paimon our travelling partner is also immune to it.

We see their memories in the animated short and they clearly missed the traveler as much as the traveler missing them even crying about it and clearly talking to dein about them. Its just a assumption of yours that they did not look for the traveler at first. They most likely did but as they traveled their target and goal changed and since we do not know the catalyst of that change it can be really good for all we know

I always found it odd how Dainsleif was the only one of the Sinners who didn’t accept the Vinster King’s promises from the Abyss. Khaenri’ah had Six Pillars, and only One of them was loyal enough to resist the allure of the Abyss? Dainsleif must’ve encountered the Vinster King if the other Pillars were already compromised, the Vinster King was intentionally seeking the Pillars out. What if, Dainsleif also accepted the Vinster Kings promise, but has no recollection of doing so, and simply believes that the other Pillars betrayed Khaenri’ah without knowing that he himself, is a traitor as well. What if, it was this discovery of Dainsleif’s betrayal, that our Sibling finally started to consider Dainsleif their enemy? Whether this turns out true or not, Dainsleif still inevitably encountered the Vinster King, so … what would the Vinster King have promised to Dainsleif of all people? A promise entirely designed for Dainsleif’s desire, that he’d betray his home nation?

The Irminsul is a good guess, since Dainsleif and the abyss twin are both vulnerable to it's changes, but i think is or Vedrfolnir or Caribert, with his ability to create false memories. They travelled together for around 400 years, since the cataclysm until 100 years ago when SHE met Chlothar, Caribert, Vedrfolnir, the Abyss Order was founded, and her fate became fuzzy. All those things happened when she met them, so, probably was her the one who changed, not Dainsleif. Look to Dainsleif description by the abyss twin: "That man, one of the Royal guards of the final dinasty, failed to prevent the destruction of Khaenri'ah". Can't we use this exact same description to Vedrfolnir and all the 5 Sinners of Khaenri'ah? Plus, Dainsleif calls Vedrfolnir one of the 5 Khaenri'ah sinners (traitors), while the abyss twin calls him, Dainsleif, a Khaenri'ah traitor. There's something strange happening.

1. Dont think beating Dain will make the sibling switch from the Abyss and that the reason she switched to it because Dain failed to save khaenriah. There's the sinners also. But yeah knowing hoyoverse, hell be a boss fight like childe. Lol. 2. Wild guess, w/ the sudden appearance of the sibling in Khaenriah she was auto sent to travel teyvat (escorted by Dain ehum he a bodyguard to royalty, dont know any other prince princess at that time, awaken that is *cough*) to learn from the world etc. Immediately came back when the abyss invaded Teyvat and Khaenriah. So Dain returns to his post, we do have accounts he fought the abyss and did try to fight them off. Makes me realize the fact of getting nuked so hard by the sustainer after fighting the abyss for who knows how long, made them look like better company later down the road with her clothar incident and Dain's little secret is wild as f. Dain being the one narrating the game as well as most characters' miscellanies implies he has access to information about all the people. He could have met them all or have access to some vast information network, but it seems more likely to me that he can also read Irmunsul.

I think the more likely reason that Lumine is so negative to Dain has something to do with the Abyss. It just reminds me too much of the story of how Dvalin was turned against Venti by the Abyss. They made Dvalin think Venti was the cause of all his problems. Lumine looks very sad throughout her journey, so maybe all it took was a little manipulation to sway her. I also can't help but think about that video we see at the start of the battlepass telling basically the same story.

So what you're saying is.... Dainsleif made the same challenge [beat me to see who will save her] to the Sibling that we get a preview of him saying to the Traveler and we know that Sibling has said they "still can't beat Dainsleif after 500 years" so presumably if they did go ahead and fight at that point the Sibling lost, though it seems that Dain still has some sort of emotionally positive view of the Sibling and vice versa. As to what the Sibling says about Dain failing to protect Khaenri'ah that could be something that they learn about only at "the end of the journey" thus explaining why they can travel together. Well we did get that whole animation comparing Dain and Paimon as companions but even as Dain and Sibling were standoff-ish of each other, they didn't seem like enemies. And the Caribert story suggests that looking back on their journey, Dainsleif has the impression that Sibling might have become distrustful of him and we're told Sibling chooses to not tell Dainsleif about either Caribert or how the curse can indeed be overcome [making Dain dead wrong in his assessment of Sibling's plans in the Chasm]. From Dain's perspective it feels like he's saying something like "Sibling must have become closer to the thinking of the Abyss Order over time and perhaps this is when that process began", but it feels like Dain is the more bad-guy type and more likely to lie perhaps by omission, just as he has done to Traveler. Perhaps what Sibling learns in the Chlothar / Caribert incident begins him on a path of distrusting Dain. Perhaps Sibling feels Dain has misled them about something but they don't know the full measure of it at that point, only learning about it when they reach the end of their journey or when they join / lead the Abyss Order. As to what Dain could have done differently to stop the Cataclysm I would guess it would be more along the lines of him making a decision that led events down this vs that direction and along one of these paths the power to face the Abyss is available and in the other it is not [rather than Dain himself having the power to defeat the Abyss]. An example of such a set of paths would have to include some very powerful force being (or not being) brought to bear. What would that force be? Presumably it would be the Six "Sinners" since we are told (1) they were all pretty tight with Dainsleif at one point, but that now they are divided, and (2) they are each said to have world ending levels of power. Could it be that though Dainsleif himself blames the "Sinners" for how things ended up, the Sibling blames Dainsleif? it certainly felt to me that Dain was full of it when he talked about the "Sinners", like he was deliberately hiding something. But then he always feels that way. As for Chlothar and Caribert we know that Chlothar must have been pushing for the Look of Fate from the birth of the Abyss Order and grabbed a Venti Statue of Seven somewhere around 2-300 years ago say. If that's true then presumably when Kaeya says the Abyss Order didn't used to have a leader (in v1.0) he just means in his lifetime, since they obvious had had a leader a few centuries back. If we assume Chlothar dies around that time then we have Caribert playing an active role in things but since he's just a kid at heart maybe not taking his place as a leader, giving the impression of a leaderless Abyss Order for a couple of centuries. What the heck is Sibling doing during this time? Of course he could have joined around this time but taken 200 years to finally convince enough of the Lectors and Heralds that he should be in charge (presumably by beating them all up one by one)? It seems unlikely that he only just began picking up the Loom of Fate where Chlothar left it from as little as a couple of years before the game begins. it feels like Sibling and Caribert are close. We get hints that Sibling isn't the totally top leader [eg Paimon in We Will Be Reunited and Dain in the Caribert story]. Does this then refer to Caribert? Is Caribert the person in the 2nd (or was it 3rd?) anniversary web event where Sibling and Enjou are prepairing a report for some boss? And is the report in the form of a pop-up children's story because Caribert is in many respects still a child after 4-500 years? Caribert says he knows all about Traveler, though they had never met.

It seems to me that lumine walk down the path of the abyss after learning or witnessing the fate of caribert and made her hold grudge against Celestia, that's shown clearly in latest dainslief quest where you talk to her in caribert consciousness. Now, the reason why she feels that way towards Celestia, are two things: 1st because Celestia decided to destroy khaenri'ah after stopping the catastrophe, and that meant punishing all of Kaenrians half or full-blooded, because of the sins of a few. 2nd, because that reminded her of the destruction of her wotld and witnessing that again did hit hard. One could argue that in the sight of Celestia it was nothing but a necessary sacrifice to save the rest of Teyvat, i'm not here to judge though, but i gotta say it'll be interesting to all parties in action against Celestia knowing that they seek different means and goals. As for obscuring lumines whereabouts I personally believe it's none than Vedrfornir "dainslief's brother" he's a visionary and has an emense power that the hilichurl worship him, so who knows what can he do. So lumine and dainslief share the same goal but they differ in the means they seek to achieve said goal, but i could be wrong, because I don't recall what dainslief intends to do, but lumine? "Until the abyss has engulfed the thrones, my war with destiny will see no end."

Hmmmmm Dain is from Lumines planet and turned traitor. That is after the Descender war so not the archon war this is a war that hasn't been mentioned many times at all. The only thing that is pointed out in game is that there is an orphanage in Khaenri'ah of Descenders, so it's very likely that Lumine and Aether are from that orphanage. Dain says "I will always remember how she too always loved these flowers" It's possible that Lumine is a manifestation of who Dain talks about since she has a flower in her hair, but if Dain refers to Lumine means that he also was there. In Honkai Impact Otto Apocalypse tries to revive his daughter Kiana Kaslana. He creates a new timeline to achieve this and the game is a consequence of that. There can be a similar plot in Genshin but Dain has this role. These games usually copy each others plot with some alterations. Dain represents the snake that captures NIbelungs pearl in the Battlepass cutscene for many reasons but mostly because a snake can be interpreted as a dragon and there so happens to be a dragon in Norse Mythology eating at Yggdrasils roots - Abyss in this game.

I must correct you on at least 2 points; 1a, Dainsleif is only a little over 500 years old. 1b, we have no knowledge on when the Twins arrived in Teyvat. 1c, The MC has an independent recollection of their Siblings existence. 2, Otto Apocalypse was trying to save KALLEN KASLANA Not KIANA KASLANA.

@@EthHawke94 I mean time is very much in doubt in Teyvat. 500 years doesn't really mean anything. Why? Because future and past exist at the same time at least for now. Mauvika mentioned it and it's been mentioned many times before, the Sakura Tree Ei remembers nobody else etc Rukkhadevata so this is something Hoyo is pushing as a plot theme. Irminsul can give the siblings memories it doesn't really mean anything either. Kallen Kaslana is Kiana Kaslana. Or the clone of her genes and Sirin my point was that Genshin can go down a similar path. This time Sirin - Paimon and Lumine Aether being an experiment to revive Princess FIschl I guess. The story in Genshin is very chaotic some ancient figures has been menitoned but not in any form of context. The siblings connection to Teyvat is also not explained at all, and to be honest it's getting tiring. Honkai Impact was structured much better. The only explanation that exists is that the yare Descenders fallen stars, and that dragons are supposed to be stars so there exists some form of connection between dragons and the siblings. Either than that not much. My point was that Dain could have been an evil dragon very much like the mythology in Norse because they seem to follow that myth very much to the letter. How Irminsul presents people in that world is also not important this is mentioned by Apep she says that form is irrelevant and that applies to everything in Teyvat. Some dragons that are being thrown around my guess is that he is the Black Dragon that was mentioned in Simulanka but it's going to take another 4 years before we know.

@ alexanderericson8628 so what if dains constalation was part of his journey and he did something based on his opinons during the fight against the abyss and that ended up hitting a part of the irmansual and that pice that was cut off was lumines fate obscured due to him not wanting lumine to end up in that path cuz vedeifneir was the one that corrupted lumine completely and he wanted to have a chance at saving her and the oroboroas snake ate that path of her fate or something so what did she end up like this i blame dains brother for this by telling her that she has a fate to become the abyss order and like mavukia said if she told us who the last two heros were then it may be too soon andnthey would have changed theor minds on helping to save natlan and things wouldnt havr played out as they did so dains brother ruined lumines fate and thays why her recoreds and fate were messed with and caribert would have known since he met her but more over that picture he gave us that shouldnt exist woth both of us plus him is there so that could also be a possibility and like somewhere lumine had thought that she was unable to fix anything dains brother is the reason she changed and took the abyss order and messed with her memories which is part of irmansual and due to that she remembered at one point that aether was alive and see rushed to see for her self at divalins temple and she decided to meet up at the ruins cuz arther was getting in the way of the abyss order the moment she saw that she saved her subbordnet even tho she cares not about them this is proof vedifulneor messed lumine up good like the beta cutescene implies she was impaled and its possible that in this she was done the same while meting dains brother that little glitch effect could mean that her memories were tampered and that messed with dain to do something in the irmansual and he needed to keep her safe till she found out that dain was wrong and not question that he may have seen something that was tampered with
