Hello. I am Angelica from Brazil. I am a teacher and, also, I am English language lover. But I agreed with as you said "phonetic is the one really hard to learn" and let me tell you: How amazing were your explanations, teacher! I loved and I am so glad to hear you today. Thank you !!!😊

In your opinion, what is the trickiest part about English? I’ve been studying it for a very long time now and still struggle with listening and understanding movies without subtitles, thus here it comes the toughest part for me: spoken English vocabulary.. sometimes they build sentences in such a irregular way that it seems wrong at first.. Also, as Portuguese speakers, you might agree that there are some stuff that turns it a nightmare to speak flawlessly, like conjugating only the auxiliary verb, or the pronunciation of some words in the past the seem the same, namely read and read, chose and choose, met and meet, eat and ate.. It took me a long practicing time to be able to use them without messing everything up 😂

Btw I was recently trying to watch ice age, which I used to watch a lot as a kid, with Portuguese voices, and I couldn’t watch it and understand everything, even though i live abroad and use English every day

... !!! ... excellent ... !!! ... Thank you, teacher, for having touched on the most difficult and important and unique aspects (stress and rhythm) that distinguish the English language from others. It is amazing how many English teachers and courses have ignored these issues for so many years. I think that from the beginning a good English teacher should teach how to correctly pronounce words, both isolated and linked to other words. Teaching correct vowel reduction and the use of the 'schwa' is essential. Thank you again for emphasizing the importance of these aspects of English.

Personally, I think phrasal verbs are much like separable verbs in German, such as 'stand up' and 'aufstehen.' In English, they are separated by a space, but in German, it is one word, with the prefix placed before the stem verb without any space

I’m a Japanese but I think any languages are difficult to learn as long as you’re passive in that. What matters is that you’re active in learning language, regardless of your language skill. I can’t speak English like native English speakers, but it’s so enjoyable to learn about it. I’m not native. That’s why I can keep learning English actively.

For me the hardest thing is sounds. In many languages there is strong chain between letter and sound. For instance, in Georgian language one letter - one sound, or in the slavic group of languages we can see the same picture. But in English... if I see the word what I don't know, I can't say it without a transcription. I have to put in memory the word's writing and the word's pronunciation because they are different.

Yes, that is a very hard element when it comes to English!

" Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal". This is one of my ways of getting used to phrasal verbs- getting used to them in quotes and sayings. At the beginning of my adventure with English, I thought that I would quickly start speaking like a native. Now I know that not so soon, maybe never....But it doesn't bother me anymore. I'm glad that I can communicate in this language at all. And besides I've become interested in other languages, so my goal has changed a bit. I see you're doing great....Thank you for the lesson and explanation. All the best to you and your family ❤
