What I appreciate the most about Marvel Rivals characters design is the fact that despite also being incredibly hot, the characters themselves aren’t overly sexualize but actually very accurate to their other media appearances like comics and cartoons. For example Psylocke rivals design is actually based on her X-Men Demon Days design which is not only a clever way to make her a ninja but also just makes her look cooler. Funny enough Squirrel Girl is canonically “thicc” in most media so her being the way she is actually accurate to her character.

I also think it’s partially because she’s the only female character in the game who doesn’t have some variation of a supermodel (tall and slender) build. This is kind of an overall problem with the character designs in my opinion, since it passes up on a lot of opportunity to communicate character through body type. The reception of Squirrel Girl is proof of that, imo: part of why people love her is because her whole design oozes character. Not really my original thoughts, btw, partially got them from tbskyen.

In marvel Rivals most of the wemen have more hour glass figures, they aren't as diverse of other body types at least for the wemen. This is mostly seen as the Ideal body types to most people. But Squirrel girl is different because she is the only other character to have a more "chubby" design. These characters are super heroes and they obviously make really big emphasis on male and female features that are attractive to the majority, and with squirrel girl she has huge legs to hammer the point home about how high she can jump, and has a stockier build at least compared to others. Not to mention her personality is straight up infectious, even I had a little smile. So because she stands out in comparison to the stoicism of some of the females, I think that's why the Internet loves her(Even me knowing full well I don't like her play style).

What Marvel Rivals is doing for some of Marvel’s more niche characters is what MCU has done for the comic book culture as a whole. Characters like Psylocke, Squirrel Girl, Jeff the Land Shark, and most importantly, my main Moon Knight, would be completely forgotten if not for Marvel Rivals If not for Marvel Rivals, I would’ve never watched the Moon Knight show and it has quickly become my favorite Marvel production Seeing how the Fantastic Four is getting added in season 1 brings back so much nostalgia, as I got introduced to Marvel movies during the 2005 Fantastic 4 movies, Ghost Rider, X-Men, and etc
