so my veggie patch i calculated the area, divided that into 1000, to give me the rate (cups) per injector feeding of the blue stuff. i dont keep my bag of fertilizer well sealed in the shed. it weighs substantially more than when first bought and dry. so i'll stick to the cup measurements. thanks

For Boron, Micro boost. To lower PH, multiple applications of Elementary Sulfur

I use horse poop, leaves, and grass clippings. Some times I compost. Sometimes I just plow it in. Can you think of any reason I need commercial fertilizer?

Good question. Do you have a local extension office you can contact to find out. I've read it depends on how deep you well is as to the distance needed to avoid any issues.

Forgive my ignorance but I'm having a hard time understanding how a granular fertilizer can be not soluble in water and yet make it into a form that can be taken up by the plants.

Granulars will eventually dissolve and be taken up by plants, after being watered in, they just aren't recommended for injection. "Water soluble" fertilizer is immediately able to be injected in a drip system using an injector or applied with the garden hose attachments.
