I let my carrots go to seed 3 years ago and they spread everywhere. I had them in the cracks in the sidewalk, in my gravel driveway, they even tried growing in a little puddle of soil on my front steps. I did transplant the ones I knew wouldn’t make it where they were but the driveway carrots tasted great!😂

I pregerminated my peppers and eggplants in paper towels too this year. I tape them in little zip loc bags to a sunny window to give them that extra temperature boost, and it works like a charm. I pot them up when the radicle is about 3/4” long

Oh and I use painters tape so that it doesn’t leave a mark

Trying a new variety is a risk but that’s how I found last year (from donated plants) that Cherekee purple & rosella toms are so exceptionally tasty. We don’t know unless we try a new thing 🤩

Watching replay, hope you’re feeling better soon. I’m booked in for surgery next week show🥲 Q&A for everyone, Onions seedlings to trim the tops or not to trim the tops whilst in greenhouse etc and the benefits if you do trim the onion seedlings? I personally don’t trim onion tops.

Nasturtiums are prolific in my area NE England uk. Once planted we have them 🤩. Like borage & pot marigolds. Wonderful tbh. So easy to pull seedlings in the wrong place

Today, I just received some seeds from MIgardener for Tess's Land Race Currant Tomato. My wife likes Cherry, but when I saw these, I thought she may like them even more, I hope to plant tomorrow. They were so cute, & so small, 1/4" to 1/2" in large clusters. I am thinking about grape size. I had to try them. I also like the Giant Crimson as it is a solid Tomato, & with few seeds. I really love the way tomatoes smell when they are growing, & I wish I can grow more. Thank you for your videos.

In uk we had such a poor spring & early summer I’m hesitant. In saying that I’ve got B-road beans & meteor peas out in allotment under scaffold nets Hoping for an early crop 🤞 we have to try 🤩

Leggy tomatoes don't worry me. I trim off all the but the top cluster of leaves and plant the stem in a shallow trench with the top cluster sticking out. We did this last year the start of May and had a tomato by the 4th of July.

I had no idea you were supposed to scarify nasturtiums, whoops! They've been growing great for me every year but this year I'll nick them and see if I get absolutely bonkers germination

The Greenstalk is too expensive because of the exchange rate to $USD. I can get other planters locally that are 3 m. X 1.5 m. for the US cost. As for getting peppers started, I don't have grow lights or the heat mats which are US made and priced. $35 US = $50 here. I finally got Paprik seeds showing up, despite the lack of facilities. Tomato seeds are doing ok, but they really need some good sunshine in a zone where rain is more possible than sunshine. 🤷

It does not need to be difficult. Plant the seeds and let the plants grow!

I missed the live feed, but I have a March gardening question: my raspberries have started to emerge after a 70F warm spell here in PA. How cold can they tolerate? At what point should I cover them to protect against frost? Supposed to go down to 25 this week.

They can tolerate freezing conditions. Mine usually appear after a hot spell too and then have to endure snow that comes later. Snow is a nice insulator that helps. You might consider covering with a tarp for sustained temps of 25 and below.

I thought for ages sweetcorn was difficult. I found a variety in my area that’s fine I we had a lovely harvest in uk. Tyson f1 is the type for us. I tried another variety last year disappointed. Going back to Tyson this year 🤩

You can add sugar when you eat them. The natural sweetness is determined by the variety, sunlight, and consistent moisture.
