Didn't the UK get Gibraltar by a treaty with Spain but Spain got Ceuta and Melilla bot with a treaty with anyone from Morocco Edit:(or anyone from that area) but actually with Portugal which had just conquered them. So the only thing that gives Spain more right to hold on to those territories is that they just got them 200 years before Gibraltar. But still feels like the UK has more right to hold onto Gibraltar.

Thirdly, I don't have a great knowledge of military treaties in general but I think “the full and entire propriety of the town and castle of Gibraltar, together with the port, fortifications, and forts thereunto belonging” refers to the entire peninsular of Gibraltar. Finally, were territorial waters even included in treaties back then, I haven't seen anything talking about specifically territorial waters back then (Only demilitarization of certain waters) I always thought it was just whoever controlled it owned it.

It's a palatalised n. So a word line "español" is pronounced in 3 syllables: es-pa-ñol. as a spaniard, i can explain Ceuta and melilla wanted to stay with us and not come back with portugal (long story short, they were protuguese colonies in northern africa before morocco, and when the iberian union broke, they didnt wanted to go with portugal (thats why those cities have the portuguese shield in their flags)) but gibraltar was taken unfairly from our hands (not complete because we give them the port and cannons, not the land, but british took all what they wanted before british i guess)
