Why is it so hard to get out of debt?

Car dealerships don’t even want to sell you a car now if you want to pay cash, they make more if you get a loan. I actually went to a few dealers to find one that wanted my business. They push a “fancier “ car so you get a loan. I had a budget and stuck to it.
