I really love how the freeze-frames sync perfectly with the song, making listening to Heya and watching Heya two completely different experiences. Normally most songs you can just listen to because the music video feels like filler and detached from the audio, but that's rarely the case with IVE.

this release from them is indeed a big "switch" from what they usually show us, I like IVE, which is keeping that "westernized" music away from their discography and actually releasing "k-pop" music, they knew what to do since k-pop music nowadays is losing it's "k" in "k-pop" IVE, you did it again! 👏

Kpop has always been inspired by Black artists, Jazz, Rap and Hip-Hop scene. There are very niche and few songs which use actual traditional instruments.

@@TheAnonymousuchiha1225 Kpop is inspired by EVERYTHING, we have african type of beats (like smart), latin type of beats (from reggaetton, like Antifragile to Bossa Nova like Alcohol Free), the pop itself (Midas touch, new jeans songs), rap (like my bag), hip hop, classical songs (feel my rhythm), chinese inspired (like hwaa) kpop is just a mix of all of that together. And honestly that's why I like it

Btw, it wasn't in 3rd gen where ppl started to say kpop started to lose the 'k', but the end of the 4th and 5th generations. Which honestly is the most nonsense thing for me, as all 4th gen songs are literally KPOP. In 3rd gen, all of those other genres I mentioned already were inspiring kpop, but ppl never actually said they lost the "k" of korean, it just started after 4th gen, when they started producing fully english songs. But I think that's 'cause a lot of them always loved bts, blackpink, red velvet, twice, exo, so of course they wouldn't say 3rd gen wasn't kpop. And the black artists influence on kpop where mainly on 3rd and 4th gen, like with Beyonce, Gloria Gaynor ( I LOVED SO MUCH THIS IN After Like), Michael Jackson, rap, rnb, jazz, disco, soul... 1st gen and 2nd gen as well, but I saw those mainly on 3rd and 4th gen (but I mean, no one can deny that kpop is built on black culture) But my answer was just to say that kpop is a mix of everything

@@thejendeuksoo707 well you’re in for a ride. People were all over BTS/Seventeen/Wannaone/GOT7 etc. about them losing the K. Girl groups like twice didn’t receive the “criticism” since their songs always fit in the realm. Blackpink sadly received both ends of it, one end of Cultural appropriation, on the other end they received criticisms of westernisation. My point is Kpop was always westernised. It would be a pleasant surprise if they sneaked in some ethnic instruments. Bubblegum pop was popularised by Japanese and Korean but still had their derivatives from the west. Hence the ones talking about the “westernisation” don’t technically understand what it truly means.
