Reminds me of growing up in Northern Michigan with the Woods and Forests as our backyard. Even as kids, we knew the lichen was special. Our mom was great and taught us what she knew about fungus and other plants. We picked and ate morel mushrooms and fiddlehead ferns and also knew what not to touch. The lichen grew like nothing else, though, on dead wood underfoot, overhead, by streams, where it was hot and sunny. Color and texture varied only slightly-mostly grey blues or rusts to match and blend. Your video was gorgeous and loved seeing all the colors and shapes. What a beautiful world where the littlest thing can often do a big job if we take the time to stop and recognize it. Excited to have found your channel and will share.

It's incredible how quickly lichens grow on rocks. A tombstone might not even be a year old before lichens begin growing on it

What's the effect of CO2 on lychen? Looking at rooftiles it seems there's more of it today than 40 years ago (NW Europe)

I had a few freinds who attended E.S.C. as I lived in Olympia for awhile in the 90s. Beautiful place. I was made most curious by the lichen breaking down rock also. ☺

You went to college but can't come close to constructing a coherent sentence? Were you high when you wrote this? It's an abomination! Sounds suspicious to me....

I would like to know, if anybody knows, can lichens be kept as ‘air plants’ houseplants? Is it possible to mimic conditions, has anyone ever done this? Thanks

"Local Green space". I guess I'm too old...we called it our backyard, or the woods... maybe I can morph into a Lichen and exit humanity, which I suspect many do at times.
@AbellaTeacher3 жыл бұрын
If you have a backyard or a nearby woods, then that's great! If you live in an apartment (like I do), then "green space" is a better description (usually a local park, for me).
