Once I started using Merino wool in my boots, then as my clothes, my feet and my skin in general started feeling better. No more soaked feet in my boots, no more itchy skin, and the comfort is phenomenal.

I'm a knitter so was intrigued by your video. Knitters have long known the wonderful qualities of wool, Merino in particular. If you're looking for another Deep Dive, sheep, wool, wool mills, spinning, weaving and/or knitting provide lots of opportunity. Enjoy.

Some of the Taylor Stitch products have me interested (especially the Henley), but I'm difficult to find clothing that fit properly so I'd have to try them on. Sadly, they don't appear to have a storefront and I've never been keen on sending clothing back that doesn't fit properly. Still, great info...and I'm gonna check-out the socks.

2:26 Mulesing is a common practice on merino sheeps so it is not "cruelty free" However, TS states that they source non-mulesing merino wool for their garments

Wow I just bought my first wool sock from darn tough Vermont socks and they are only 41% merino wool for the same price. Made in america but I'd rather have made in Italy lol

Do you find the Proof shirts tangibly softer than the Taylor Stitch? The Huckberry website lists the Proof shirt as 16.5 microns (which is usually an average). I'm very sensitive with shirts. While I absolutely adore high-end Italian Merino socks, love good quality Merino Hiking Socks and even like merino in the strategic lower body, I don't enjoy most standard merino tops on my skin. I'll manage a few hours but eventually I'll tire of the irritation.

I saw this comment and wasn't sure, so I wore my Proof shirt today after wearing my TS shirt yesterday. I don't know if I'm a very good person to judge how they feel since my skin isn't as sensitive as yours, but the Proof seems a little better. But I don't think the difference is very big. I love both shirts. I've had great experiences buying and returning from each company, so if you decide to buy one and they are too itchy, they have great return policies.

No matter what kind of wool garment you have light weight to heavy weight Lanolize them. They will be soft as a baby's butt, with no itch. If you have never worn summer weight wool shirts and slacks you don't know what you are missing. the light weight and open weave make them cool and comfortable. No moisture build up. Body moisture vaporized and passes thorough the fabric. The softer the Morino the more moth larva enjoy thanking a bite out of your clothing.

how do you lanolize and how often should be done ?

I would suggest NOT lanolising base or midlayers as this will inhibit their moisture transport significantly. I tried this and found it adversely affected both the performance and comfort of next to skin layers. Lanolin should really only be used on outer layers, to make them more water resistant. I use pure liquid soap on my base and midlayers. I always use an easy care 40° machine wash and have items that are over a decade old and still perfect.

I know some companies will mention not doing this. I honestly don’t know enough about it to have an opinion, but I have seen merino wool companies talk about it.

@@keenand5416 This has nothing to do with activism. I own several Merino products myself, but as a responsible consumer, it is important to ask yourself how these products are made and if there is a better way to make them based on your own moral beliefs. It's just childish and lazy to completely dismiss the discussion just so you don't have to deal with the reality behind the product. Merino wool can and is partly produced in a more sustainable way, but to make this production method more widespread there has to be a need and a corresponding awareness among the consumer.

can socks be made from 100% merino?
@obamalastname34
@obamalastname34 Жыл бұрын
Yes as what the past used to produce and sell on the market. For durability issue it would be a good advice to knit in worsted aran yarn or chunky yarn they call it boot socks. You can even use wool fibers to needle water felt for a sock hole issues For keeping the sock on the feet they would knit the top smaller.
