Why Is Misusing Scripture Dangerous?

Matthew 4 recounts Jesus' temptation in the wilderness. After fasting for forty days and nights, Jesus is approached by Satan, who tempts Him in three ways. First, Satan challenges Jesus to turn stones into bread to alleviate His hunger. Jesus responds by quoting Deuteronomy 8:3, emphasizing that man lives by every word from God's mouth. Next, Satan takes Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple, urging Him to throw Himself down, misusing Psalm 91:11-12. Jesus counters with Deuteronomy 6:16, asserting that one should not tempt God. Finally, Satan offers Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship. Jesus rebukes him, quoting Deuteronomy 6:13, and declares that only God is worthy of worship.
