I'm trying to connect my Mac Mini (2013 model) to my AVR (a Sony STR-DN1080) via HDMI ports on both to simultaneously get sound and vision. II have established a connection but the Sony KD55X9005C TV (amp links to TV by HDMI out) shows the Mac for a matter of approx 5 secs, presents a blank screen & then reappears. This process then loops. What are my options? The Mac mini is connected to the Sony AVR HDMI port 'CD/SACD' and the HDMI out from the Sony AVR connects to HDMI 4 on the TV.

I have a high end Denon reciever AVR -3310CI 7.1 and no matter the hdmi port I plug into and I've even changed the cord, it drops in and out and mostly stay out. Not sure if it's the whole hdmi motherboard? It's not the projector because if go hdmi to DVD or PS4 it's fine but to get good sound I run all sources through my reciever

What if everything work but after you go to sleep and the next day there is no action. No signal from say your black box!? I mean if you havent tuch the cables or device?? I have bought ore than 4 of these HDMI switches! Thought that fault are with them. The next time you want to switch to other device, no signal received and it switch back to original, just to find that one also have gone for a loop?

My HDMI was working perfectly until about an hour ago. I tried to open HBO Max Ann’s it said an error occurred and to restart or Download again. When I tried to input any instructions nothing happened so I turned tv off. This didn’t work so I unplugged both tv and fire stick. HDMI was saying it was connecting but no image on screen. I have a new 55' samsung UHD tv. I connect my gaming PC to it through HDMI. While watching netflix and playing games it will randomly drop the signal for a second or so. The tv goes black and then displays a waiting image. After a couple seconds the signal is back and works. This happens pretty frequently. Help! The 46' lcd that I replaced worked perfectly.

Mine happens with a fire tv 3 on a 65 in samsung 4k Ultra tv. If i switch resolution to 1080p 60Hz it won't stutter.

I get that sometimes when theres electro-magnetical interference. For example,when I start a vacuum cleaner, or I have 2 devices running (like my PC and a console), also I used to get it on cheaper cables more frequently. So it looks like interference pretty much. Easiest fix -- get good quality well shielded hdmi cables (the shorter the better), use hdmi splitters with their own power source, but keep that in mind it might not help, or it might just reduce the problem, depends on what actually interrupts the signal. I have the same problem. GTX1080 to a Vizio (2017) model through a Onkyo receiver. I just replaced all cables and I still have the issue. I think it is HDR related or something related to the 4K modes the TV will accept and it thinking it needs to switch modes when it doesn't. I have a Samsung that won't even give me HDR from a different PC, Intel GPU that is supposed to support HDR according to the mobo. For this flickering, I do get HDR but I think the flickering is the TV switching from HDR mode to regular SDR mode. It flickers more often when I am changing something. Switching from desktop to full screen video makes it happen more often. I have tried without the receiver and it still flickers. This communication protocol is ridiculous. To get HDR I need to set the TV to HDR, make sure the receiver is set to HDR via a hidden option, and then windows will let me set my PC to HDR. Change a cable and I might need to re-enable it in windows. I do not have a second HDR source other than the PC that will not give me one on my Samsung. I was thinking my TV was defective, but now I am leaning towards a windows/nvidia thing.

My Samsung 4k tv HDMI 1 port seems to be playing up, I tested it with a PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and a standalone 4k UHD Blu Ray player with similar results. At best I keep occasionally losing the image for a second or or two but at worst the image is constantly flashing, I've used different cables too all suitable for 4k too with the same results but there are occasions too where I have no issue at all then out of nowhere it's playing up again. Can't quite put my finger on what the issue is, only possibility I can think of is whether my HDMI port is damaged? Don't know how or what I could have done to do so never had issues with HDMI's before.

Hello Guys, My name is Bruno, I have a projector that i recently got. I have my projector on the roof of my house and i have my receiver by the screen. Its a 20 feet HDMI cord that goes from the Projector to the receiver and the receiver has 4 HDMI entrance. Hi Bruno and thanks for your question. As the video above suggests - first things first, you need to test your Source device and your Display (the projector). Try connecting an alternative display to your Source device (using a short HDMI lead). Test your Projector by connecting an alternative Source to the display (using a short HDMI Lead) Assuming both are ok, you are most likely pushing the distance of the HDMI signal too far (although 20 metre HDMI cables are available on the market, the recommendation is a maximum distance of 10-15 metres). The best option would be to add a HDMI equaliser - such as this: shop.cie-group.com/shop/av-distribution_19/hdmi_1023/hdmi-splitters--repeaters_90/hdmi-hdmi-equaliser_2994.php between your Source and Display - a cheap and simple option which I expect might solve your problems. I’m having issues with a Neat Bar (video conferencing unit), connecting to a Sony BZ40H TV monitor. This problem doesn’t happen on all systems. I’m running a 3’HDMI from the Neat Bar to the Sony monitor, and have replaced the HDMI a few times. I get a “unsupported signal” error occasionally when it wakes up through CEC. TV shuts off after 5 minutes of inactivity (motion detection), and then wakes up when it detects motion. Sometimes it just shows “unsupported signal”. There are at least 8 of our systems displaying this. Any help would be welcome.

I have an adapter for the pc and samsung tv hdmi. Hi. A wind 10 pc connected to a 4k samsung tv with hdmi and no vga ports by an adapter. My PC is connected via a splitter to several TV's, and one of them goes through my receiver to my TV. All but one connection work great. But practically every time I power on my receiver and TV it says "no signal". If I wait (sometimes 5 seconds, sometimes 10 minutes!!) the signal comes back. But since I'm not eager to wait 10 minutes I constantly turn off/on the receiver and wait a couple of seconds, hoping it will find the signal. When I turn off the receiver the picture comes on for a second and then of course goes away (receiver turned off). Whenever I turn the splitter on/off the signal is there straight away (so it should be the splitter that is not sending the signal correctly at first). But how can it be a splitter problem when the signal does come back when turning the receiver on/off? Hope to get some answers, thanks

i have a problem with my hdmi port it has become rather lose so when i connect the hdmi cable it hangs rather slow and no picture appears but u can hear the audio and if u angle the hdmi cable higher the picture comes back. Is there a way i can tighten the hdmi port?

+Joe O Hi Jo and many thanks for your question. (Same reply as question above I know!..) The common reason for faulty HDMI sockets is where there is a frequent plugin/unplug, as HDMI sockets are really designed for 'plug in and leave' unfortunately. It would be unlikely there is a problem with the connector itself, the likelihood is that the termination on the board has come loose. Therefore, it's a job for someone with some great soldering skills! (whether that be you or your friendly local TV repair guy?!) Our suggestion to prevent this from happening in the future? If you have a device which you frequently plugin and unplug, then add an interim male to female HDMI connection lead between device and HDMI cable. This helps in that a) they tend to have a more robust termination than a PC-mount connector and b) if it does go wrong, it's only a few £s or $s to replace (somewhat cheaper and easier than fixing or replacing your AV device) The HowToAV Team

Since upgrading my graphics card to a Geforce GTX1650 Super, the HDMI connection to my AV receiver keeps dropping out. Sometimes switching my receiver on, and to the PC input before turning the pc on, gets a steady connection at first. But it inevitably starts to drop out after a while. I have the latest Geforce drivers installed. I never had this issue with my previous card, a Geforce 750 ti. I only upgraded it because I wanted to stream 4k HDR videos from my pc to my 4K tv. Many thanks for your email and sorry to hear you're having problems. Here's what one of our engineers had to say - it appears he has experienced the exact same problem!... It seems to happen when the PS4 cannot auto detect the screen resolution of the TV so outputs a 1080p signal or another resolution that the TV cannot handle. The way to resolve is as below from a support forum gamefaqs.com). It seems a common problem www.gamefaqs.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/71454755I had this exact same problem when I was trying to set up with my TV. My issue was that the 'auto-detect screen resolution' decided my TV could handle 1080p (when it can only handle 1080i). Turn the PS4 off (you have to hold the power button on the console until you hear a second beep; 1 beep turns the light orange and puts the PS4 in standby, the second actually turns it off). Hold the power button for at least 7 seconds. There will be an initial beep; then after about 7 seconds (felt longer), there is a second beep. This will turn the PS4 on in safe mode. [This temporarily sets the resolution to the minimum (460p?)]. Select the one that mentions resolution or display (I think it was the second option). This will keep the PS4 at the 460p when it turns on normally. Once the PS4 is back to normal, go to settings and change the resolution for the best one for your TV. EDIT: I had to try the standby mode twice to get it to work right.

Сonfigure windows to display two screens: start - control panel - screen - configure screen settings. Specify work with two screens - OK. I think your adapter does not have all the contacts to send a signal about connecting a second monitor to your laptop.

Source -> HDBaseT Transmitter -> HDBaseT Receiver -> 8x8 HDMI Matrix Switcher -> Video Processor -> Multi Projectors Resolution: 2560x1080 HDBaseT cable: CAT6A-STP (distance 85m) I skipped using the matrix switcher, HDBT to video processor, and the image is working fine. I Skipped using the HDBaseT transmitter and receiver, direct image into the Matrix Switcher and to the video processor, it was working fine.

I did not understand the problem. Does not show through the matrix switch on 8 screens? Perhaps your original signal has HDCP protection and, since the HDBase-T standard supports copyright rights, you can not display multiple copies of a protected image-it's a public display.

When I play a game on my PC, God of War for example and I want to play with controller both my monitors lose HDMI signal and dont work again untill i restart the pc. The pc does pick up and register the controller because there is about a 5 to 10 second window where i can play before this happens. The weird part is that i played over 45 hours of GoW so far on pc with the controller and everything was fine. This issue also happens on other games and this happens with both ps4 and xbox controllers. Anyone know how to fix this?

When the HDMI signal is turned on, the source and the TV exchange EDID data about what resolutions and frame rates are acceptable for them. If they can not agree among themselves, then the signal does not start to show. I think your new TV does not have all the modes that the player broadcasts to it. Set the player's mode to manual, specify a low frame rate of 25-50 Hz and a color of 8 bits. Experiment with this.

I just purchased a new 4K his 50” vizio smart tv and I am using the hdmi cable I had on my 40” Samsung Hd tv that I had absolutely no problems with. Now when I view KZbin through my Roku it will kick it out momentarily and display the hdmi cable port at top of screen and also show a picture of the hdmi port and 2160 and 1080 flashes back and forth then go back to viewing KZbin or fluttering green and then back to what we were watching. Like an interruption of the connection but with green lines. I checked the hdmi connection in the back of tv, pulled it out then back in and After several attempts got it to work. It still does this occasionally when viewing through my Roku. It does not seem to happen when I view KZbin through the TVs KZbin app. Any ideas? Did I buy a lemon? This tv has 4 hdmi ports 1 says best one says arc and the other two just say hdmi.

I am using an HDMI extender over Ethernet with my Onkyo AV receiver. When i plug the HDMI extender to my receiver output (HDMI) it works fine, i am able to see the menu of the receiver on my TV. When i add any video source to the receiver HDMI inputs, the video does not work. So i disconnect the HDMI extender from the receiver and connect the HDMI output from receiver to directly to my TV, works fine. If i disconnect my receiver and connect the same video source to the HDMI extender then out to my TV, works fine. Any reason why my AV receiver and HDMI extender won't work together? I swapped every cable around and everything works when both are not connected together. thanks

I have been having some trouble with using my hdmi port 1 with hdcp 2.2 with my cable box and ps4 (with and without hdcp enable). What it does it will shut down the port it normally comes back in time but I can instantly bring it back by plugging in my 4k capable laptop. So I had a really good feeling its something to do with the hdcp, any ideas?

my PlayStation 4 and cable box. They used to work until recently. It is the only port on my TV that is hdcp 2.2. Once that port goes out I can immediately reactive it by plugging my laptop (4k res.) into it

We would recommend visiting the manufacturer website for your TV to see if there is a firmware update available for the TV. There is the possibility that the PS4 and cable box have had their firmware updated recently and the TV is now struggling to “handshake” with these devices. Having the latest TV firmware should hopefully cure these issues. It's also worth checking on the the TV manufacturer's website and support forums for known compatibility issues. Plugging it back into the older tv again it works fine! On inspection on the Playstation pins 1 and 2 have been pushed back, would this prevent the connection between it and the Samsung but somehow still connect to the older tv?

Six or seven months ago I bought an HDMI Splitter and a long HDMI cable, then yesterday I bought an HDMI Video Capture Card second handed. So yesterday I tried what I can to make my PS4, TV, and PC fully function to each other to get connected, it work well. Then I was playing a game and I tried to record my gameplay by using OBS. The reason why I need those three is because I need a good quality of my gameplay for the record. I do can just use my PS4 to record my gameplay, the quality is good but not that because its 720p and also it only gives me one hour of maximum to record my gameplay, so with those things I have and record it on OBS, the quality is HD and it gives me more time to record my gameplay. In an hour later since first use, the connection just dropped out just for one second and then it came back but it will affect the recording, and also I have realize that the audio is in little delay so I found a way to make between the video and audio go in match. I found the way but it seems I need to turn down the sound of the notifications because if it does then that sound will join on the audio recording. I think I know why the connection dropped out, perhaps its the splitter because while I still don't have a video capture card, I was using the splitter to connect between my PS4 and TV, been using it for like two hours and then after that, the connection just dropped out for just two second, it never happen if I only connect my HDMI cable between my PS4 and TV so I'm guessing its the splitter's fault. I still want a good quality but I just found an idea to make the dropped out connection won't happen but here's hoping for me that it work well.

So about the idea I found out, it work well. So what I did is I just use one HDMI cable to use to connect between my PS4 and PC, and I also still uses my HDMI Video Capture Card to plug it in on my CPU. I use OBS. But the only little problem is that when I press the buttons of my controller and the screen of the OBS is a little bit of delay but for me I tried to handle it because it's not really that bad just as long as I know what I'm pressing it. And indeed there's no connection that was dropped out so it keeps going and going. Also the audio is in match in the video. I didn't use my splitter because I know that's the reason why the connection got dropped out, or perhaps my splitter is broken a little.

hi I've had sky TV over the last few years and always had sound drop outs on sky sports HD only.This happens through normal TV speakers,HDMI Arc and also through optical lead.I now have BT hub with sky sports HD and guess what more sound drop outs.I've seen hundreds of comments on forums but no fix.I've now bought Samsung mu6500 TV still same problem it must be Sky's problem its only on sky sports HD when sound drops out can you help?

Hi guys. I have a media box mxq which i was using today went out of the room come back in and then i could see a blank screen. So i have changed 3 HDMI cables still nothing and even tested the cables on other Devices and they all worked, so I'm thinking it's the port on my media box what do you think can you give me some advice please

Good morning Alan and thank you for your question. The first two simple tests to try out is testing the Media Box and testing the Screen. Test the Media Box by connecting it to an alternative screen/TV. Test the TV/Screen by connecting it to an alternative HDMI Source. Another idea would be to use the composite video output from the media box into a phono or scart input on the TV. This will check if the box is powered up and working without going through the HDMI output. By testing all of the above should indicate where the fault lies. Best of luck and many thanks for viewing! First thing to test is try connecting your Media player to an different screen/tv. Alternatively, have you tried connecting your MXQ to the TV via the composite AV output? (should be via a 3.5mm jack)

Hello. I have 2 set top boxes. One works well while connected to the TV via a HDMI. The TV restarts every approx 15 to 20 secs while connected to the other box using either the same HDMI cable or a new cable. The picture and sound on both boxes are fine. I just bought the 40" samsung series-5 j5100 tv and tried to connect it to my computer with HDMI cable but it shows "No signal". The strangest things are, 1. I connected my pc same way with another Singer 32" tv and it worked fine but the screen goes on and off but it was working merely. 2. I connected my laptop same way and it worked but the screen goes on and off. Again it was working merely. But for this new tv, it can't even connect. Is there any solution?

Friend, it's not the TV, but Windows. Plug in the HDMI cable. Turn on the TV the required input of HDMI. Then turn on the power of the computer or laptop. If there on the TV, after the computer is loaded, is no signal, go to Windows Start - Control Panel - Screen - to configure the screen settings. Set the mode of work with two screens. Click OK. Everything is working. Similar actions should be performed on the Mac.

Our Sharp Aquos 52" LCD TV keeps losing the signal. Tweaking the HDMI cable usually makes the image come back suggesting a loose connection or weak signal. I suspect the TV loses the signal as the set top box worked perfectly with the old plasma TV. We've tried different cables and different inputs with the same result. Input 5 works better than input 4... which also suggests a physical problem. Would a signal booster work? We ran into the same problem with the data projector... but it only happens with the Bluray player not with the laptop. We tried various things there too. :-)

A Blu-ray player can show video with so many different settings. Some of these settings are compatible only with very expensive TVs. You must enter the player setup mode and try to set different color modes. Not the screen resolution, but the image color and frame frequency. Set the frame size that your TV has, eg 1920*1080p. Set the minimum frame rate, for example 25 or 30. Set the color to 8 bits. Save and restart the player. This should solve the problem. In the future, you can experiment with the settings, increasing the frame rate or the color depth, until again there are disconnections.

+DR_Pizzle_03 Many thanks for your email and sorry to hear you're having problems. Here's what one of our engineers had to say - it appears he has experienced the exact same problem!... It seems to happen when the PS4 cannot auto detect the screen resolution of the TV so outputs a 1080p signal or another resolution that the TV cannot handle. The way to resolve is as below from a support forum (gamefaqs.com). It seems a common problem www.gamefaqs.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/71454755I had this exact same problem when I was trying to set up with my TV. My issue was that the 'auto-detect screen resolution' decided my TV could handle 1080p (when it can only handle 1080i). Turn the PS4 off (you have to hold the power button on the console until you hear a second beep; 1 beep turns the light orange and puts the PS4 in standby, the second actually turns it off). Hold the power button for at least 7 seconds. There will be an initial beep; then after about 7 seconds (felt longer), there is a second beep. This will turn the PS4 on in safe mode. [This temporarily sets the resolution to the minimum (460p?)]. Select the one that mentions resolution or display (I think it was the second option). This will keep the PS4 at the 460p when it turns on normally. Once the PS4 is back to normal, go to settings and change the resolution for the best one for your TV. EDIT: I had to try the standby mode twice to get it to work right.

Hi, i have 2 different set top boxes i have connected to 2 Soniq smart TV's, i have run 2 X 15m HDMI leads into both TV's so i can watch the same shows on the both TV's at once or have them transmitting a different show at the same time. Before i connected the 2 splitters to the set top boxes the 15m leads worked fine as i tried each individual one at a time. The problem now after i connected the 2 splitters is the picture will disappear and come back on after about 30 seconds, the display will be good for a few minutes and then it will disappear again, i noticed with one of the TV's is when the picture disappears there is static across the screen. Anyone else have a problem similar to this........Regards

Try testing both Source and Display devices by firstly connecting an alternative HDMI Source into your TV - does this work? Then test the Display by connecting your original Source to an alternative TV or Screen. You should also try an alternative HDMI lead; if you current cable is longer than 3metres, try a quick test with a short 1 metre lead.

Hi to you, I'm Pat, I have this problem, I use a Samsung S5 Smartphone and I connected via MHL to my 2DIN Kenwood Display Head Car system. I could see images and videos but random I loose hdmi signal without any reason, signal drops for two or three seconds and I see snow on video. After It returns to work. Very frustating when I use it to see TV or to use it with Spotify to hear music coming from my phone via streaming internet connections. Someone say to go on Air mode but I need wifi or 4G connection to use it for streaming. I tried about 4 or 5 cables, with usb power supply. I use also a Miracast Kenwood and this works very good but with a delay. I prefer to use a simple cable, more fast and without any delay but I have these issues, Any suggestions?

Based on the fact that it was working fine before it went in for repair, it really needs to go back to whoever repaired it, we would suggest. Likelihood is that perhaps an incorrect driver has been installed for the graphics card or mother board, or perhaps a faulty connection on the circuit board. It could be one of a number of issues, but really should be rectified by whoever repaired the laptop.

One hdmi goes to a HDMI screen the other to a HDMI to RCA convertor box... only video plays on HDMI screen. The common reason for faulty HDMI sockets is where there is a frequent plugin/unplug, as HDMI sockets are really designed for 'plug in and leave' unfortunately. It would be unlikely there is a problem with the connector itself, the likelihood is that the termination on the board has come loose. Therefore, it's a job for someone with some great soldering skills! (whether that be you or your friendly local TV repair guy?!) Our suggestion to prevent this from happening in the future? If you have a device which you frequently plugin and unplug, then add an interim male to female HDMI connection lead between device and HDMI cable. This helps in that a) they tend to have a more robust termination than a PC-mount connector and b) if it does go wrong, it's only a few £s or $s to replace (somewhat cheaper and easier than fixing or replacing your AV device) The HowToAV Team

Hey, great video , thanks for sharing! I bought this Sony 4K TV 2016 model and after the last update ( I believe) I got a dropout on my picture. I 'm using external TV box with an HDMI signal output. I had reset the TV, changed the cable and yet the problem still occurs. The issue itself is that there is a signal with sound and all however on some (HD) channels the signal drops out for a second and briefly showing "HDMI 1080i " in a dark grey bar at the top of the screen. I've tried it with different source ,i.e. by using the laptop. In this case there was no signal loses but the gray bar with HDMI 1080i still appears occasionally. I would really appreciate it to hear your thoughts.

I have a big issue with my ledtv hdmi signal...its samsung f5000 32". Its connected to my r9 270 brand new gpu on a pc. my HDMI signal cuts off for a few seconds every time I switch on the room's light or the refrigerator cycles... it happens every time on my 2 meter long HDMI cable (left open for various devices) but not on my shorter one (fixed on my PlayStation)... Often such a problem is solved very simply: the power supply of all devices connected to the HDMI must be made from one outlet. If the devices are plugged into different sockets, then there may be damage from the potential difference on the ground. Especially from devices with electric motors, such as air conditioning, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, if they are faulty. If you are connected to the same outlet, but there is a disconnection, then you have an unstable power supply of the apartment. There is not enough power and there is a temporary decrease in the voltage in the network. In this case, you should use an uninterruptible power supply with a double voltage conversion. Plug it into an outlet and then connect it to the TV and other HDMI devices.
