Why is my HP Printer Leaking Ink From the Bottom?

Video is good diagnostically diagnostic, but missing "and then what?" Here's what I did on my HP 7640. My error message was, well, wrong: "Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed, and then touch OK." Tried this repeatedly, even with new cartridges. Same error message. This video led me to a black ink pooling on the colored cartridge side. Unplugged the unit, took a clean cloth, applied alcohol, and slowly cleaned out the pooling. Twas a mess. Took 3 cloths to clean up the ink in the nooks and crannies. Let it all dry for an hour, then re-started the HP. It worked! The HP 7640 prints once again!

Excellent👏 Thank you for sharing! I found a pool of black ink under my HP Photosmart 5510. Now I know the possible reasons. You have a very cute curious cat🙀 . . sweet .

My HP Printer 415 is printing but color black prints is not very fine for example the letters are not clear, do i need to replace the cartridge? I also found out that ink is leaking from the bottom

I’m sure they can make a way for for the ink used in cleaning cycles to drain back into the tanks so no maintenance box is needed (or in hp’s case for the machine to break)…however they must feel satisfied that ink is being wasted(or in hp’s case for the machine to have a set expiration date)..

As a printer technician, no. Wasted or "primed" ink cannot be reused

Can this also prevent the printer from printing black ink?

Yes but it's a mess, you need to disassemble the printer, clean the dried ink and clean/replace the waste pads if possible, on the 5510/5520 I have a video where I cleaned the inside of the printer :)

I am looking inside my 3070A and I can see the waste ink is in a sodden strip on the right hand side. To replace strip or scrap? Thanks for the video.
