Also, every New Chinese Year, they also give free 10 pulls, but this time they add additional 3. So why the three pulls becomes so important? Because that is about dev *appreciation* towards players, basically said "as a thanks for playing this game for all these years, we gave you 3 pulls". That's what makes a lot of genshin players rage, all of their (players) support toward the game were worth only THREE pulls.

Something that i like about nikke is their events and bonds side storys. Sometimes could be a goofy side story that is very enjoyable and sometimes it can be a really well written story like overzone and the fist christmas event.

Every words touches me, and verbalize why i like Nikke. Never played gacha before, Nikke is my first, started playing only 2 weeks after anniversary and been attracted every since. Tried to venture into other gacha, but the gameplay, UI, graphics was just nothing near and just felt like copies with different skin. And your bootcamp series let me appreciate and understand the mechanics of the games even more. ^^

I started just last year with the Nier crossover, since I love that franchise. I intended to drop it since I had never played a gacha game before, and didn't really have much interest. I quickly changed my mind when the story pulled me in, and someone told me to play OverZone, and that was it. Still playing today, and have lots of units, and have only spent money on a couple of the passes. What keeps me around really is the story. The writers for the game are (usually) great.

DISCLAIMER. for those who have watched this video under the impression that the dailies do not take long and you're from other gacha games, nikke's dailies are, on the contrary, EXTREMELY LENGTHY. I watched this video believing this video's claim that the dailies are short. WRONG. With events, it can easily take 1 hour plus to finish. Without events and if your account is still new, around 3 months or younger, your dailies will still be extremely lengthy and tedious due to modes like special interception and simulation room. Emphasis on simulation room. If you care about min maxing resources, you're essentially forced to play longer on this mode in order to obtain buffs, and these buffs are essential in helping you clearing the latter stages, especially if you're in the 160 wall or have an accoun that is still young. If there's an event, your dailies can skyrocket to a whopping 1 hour requirement to be completed. This is because it may consist of event story, co-op, mini games, solo raids, union raids, collab mini games, and many more. All of these mentioned game modes are tasks you must do daily as they do not allow you the flexibility of doing it on another day, hence forcing you to go through each mode one by one everyday, contributing to the daily grind fatigue which can reach possibly up to 1 hour! If short dailies are an important factor for you, then you should think twice before starting nikke. I understand how difficult it is to completely stop playing a game once you've started so i hope this helps those who cares abt this. I am literally a person who watched this video before determining whether i should start nikke. Short dailies was a factor for me so i believed this guy's comment on it. Unfortunately, it is very inaccurate and there's actually numerous factors he failed to mention, such as events and a young account contributes to longer dailies, potentially reaching an hour plus!

It is worth mentioning that dailies and daily task aren't the same, dailies are the short daily mission you complete in order to get the premium daily free income of gems (premium currency), this ARE short (15-20 min), for example, they don't tell you to complete the simulation room, only to play one match, etc. daily task add to that, especially during events, and every game has them, Genshin, Star Rail, Blue Archive, and so on, comes with the nature of events. And although nikkes has a lot of this events, some of them are only twice a month and the rewards are comparable to doing dailies for a week, just extra stuff to fill in time if you wish. if you wish to minmax, then yeah it's gonna take time, because then its no longer a daily or daily task, its a farm/grind for resources.

because they actually listen to the players no one is gonna trash on you for making mistakes, we're all human. its when you choose to ignore criticism and never strive to be better is what i have a problem with. and i feel like less and less people these days are putting up with that bullcrap after what genshin did to them. and honestly theses so many factors that led to their success. I could make an entire list at this point, but the revenue speaks for itself. Basically they went above and beyond with everything they did. I think some key factors were.. 1. they really have no competition, the gameplay genre is essentially duck hunt which no one has touched in years. even outside the gacha space 2.censorship is rampant these days and people are sick of it. yes big companies want to market to everyone thats why booba bad, but holy fk. if you try to please everyone you please no one. thats not to say nikke is perfect, people had some issues with the christmas event. people are asking for more animations and illustrations in the story and events. thats all fine because what matters is intent. they've shown in the past they're willing to fix things so ill support them if they keep supporting us

I still remember playing genshin like for a year until i asked myself "is this game fun anymore ?" (I dropped it). Then, i saw this game and got the exact same impression as many people here "i judged the game by its cover too soon". Its really fun, the collabs are amazingly unexpected (Evangelion coming xd), the story has its moments (although there are a lot of cliche anime moments). As someone who has been playing NIKKE since day one, I actually forget sometimes on what the devs have change because of the community and actually listen, like the quick fight system. I do agree that the grind on this game isnt as horrible as other games but there is still space to improve such as manufacturer armors, add something to create armor pieces by sacrificing other pieces of the same armor type (my cope is high on this). i do hope they continue to listen mean while the player base continue to support the game and everyone around it (devs, voice actors, content creators, ect)

Nikke truly was a pleasant surprise. Like many, I decided to try the game on a whim (combination of being bored/looking for a new game) about two months ago. I was expecting a trashy fanservice cash grab game that is unfortunately all too common in the gacha/mobile game space. But after trying it out, the amount of depth to the game genuinely surprised me. As someone who was used to being treated like trash by Genshin before I quit a year and a half in, every point mentioned in the video is pretty on point. I have no qualms about spending the $5 a month just to support the developers even though I usually try to stick to F2P. It just goes to show the age old saying is still true, don't judge a book by its cover!

As a day 1 player it’s so nostalgic to looking back into good old days. I was never interested in in NIKKE until just before the release I saw Volume animation and decided to try it to see myself how far it can actually go. I downloaded it and started with very low expectations and after I finished the tutorial I finally saw, that’s despite all flaws the game has the breathing and living soul. It is first and probably last time I spent the entire week to reroll to the one specific girl in gacha who brings the sword to a gunfight and still wins. And despite every day dramas, insane amount of bugs, when almost every character didn’t work properly (anyone remember, how Harran burst scales from her charge damage?), censorship controversies, CP deficit issues, unkillable train, I managed to survive and experienced firsthanded the best event I’ve ever seen in gachas - Overzone event. Anyway, thank you for your wholesome and funny content, please keep going.

Another plus is, the CUMMANDER dares to sleep with some of the NIKKE. So checking out the event story or bond story is very interesting to know who made it that far or who doesn't. The event story also relate with previous event story. hence following the side story is as interesting as the main story

I feel like my biggest gripes with the game are the daily grind and the unit investment costs, also the low useability of most of the cast. I guess I've been spoiled by Honkai Star rail but Nikke's dailies are a slog, and stuff like SI even with me being level 230 with all the meta units I still can't reliably auto them all the time (sometimes it works so it's in an rng state) so it takes a lot more focus than most gacha dailies in general. My two other main gachas are HSR and GBF and HSR you get all the dalies done in legit 5 minutes, and GBF is a grind game but I can put however much effort I want into the grind on each day. Unit investment is also crazy high so rolling new units you may not even be able to properly use them for months cause the skill investment costs are so high and you can rng never roll gear that you and OL for them (my state with bs scarlet and scarlet). Along with that, there's so few places to actually use more than 1-2 teams that 90% of the cast literally gets brought off the bench for me.

What brought me into this game was the Nier event. Although I had it downloaded since the Chainsaw Man event…. which was a weird collab and I’m not even a BIG fan of it, I just like it but never bothered to start it up until the Nier Automata event, managed to get 2B and A2, Limit Break both to 2, after that didn’t have enough to Pull 😭 But in general, I hit the 160 wall. Anywho, this is by far the gacha game that is pretty generous with its gacha rates. I love me a good story and this got me hooked, from its main to events. And the soundtrack, oh my days, it slaps hard! In all honesty, they didn’t need to do the fan service and all, it’s gameplay was rather interesting to me to begin with but hey, I’m not complaining 😁 As for the community, it’s the most welcoming. Compared to Honkai Impact 3rd, Star Rail, two mobile games I play daily and also Mihoyo games, who’s community is sorta welcoming, that is until the point they become weirdos and want to gatekeep anyone that gets something slightly wrong or you gave a “wrong” opinion…. My only con with it is the cosmetics being $20 to around $60 if there’s a cosmetic locked behind their roulette…. I just pay for the monthly, don’t really want to whale in any mobile game let alone pay for expensive JPEGSs 😂 All in all, love the game. Looking forward to more events, characters, music and all. Also looking forward to Shift Up’s first AAA game, Stellar Blade 👍

Genshin forces you to spend HOURS grinding every day for little to no rewards. The recent “3 free pulls” for their new year lantern festival event was an absolute insult.

Great overview on the games success. Ive played so many gatcha games in the past, dedicating years to them. And though some had their victory's, they were short lived. Nikke not only survived its 1st year but celebrated it by rewarding the very players that made had been supporting it and continues to do so. Defiantly have not regretted one bit giving some money here and there to the devs, which is a feeling i rarely get with these games. Im glad as well the community is honestly really good as well.

Nikke has a small playerbase and makes money competitive with the largest playerbase by far. Nikke is clearly the more successful game. I think even Hoyoverse is realizing this and is no longer seeing Genshin as the "golden goose" everyone keeps saying/assuming it is. Genshin is a great game but it is actually poorly monetized for its audience. I think you glaze a bit over the primary reason with Nikke though. The QUALITY of the fanservice. It's of extraordinary quality and that really matters. It's one thing to just have booba like any random gacha game, but the art in Nikke is unquestionably on another level. Even the "modest" characters, many of them lower ranking, are absolutely worth just for their art alone. (I say this as a person that has never played the game, but I can easily say it has the best designs/art even outside of the "fanservice"). That really is important and it's not just about degeneracy, they really put a lot of work into the art and the players probably stick around for that too. Every other element you mention is in common with Punishing Gray Raven as far as generosity, lack of FOMO, reasonable gear grind, respects time, etc. But it's again, unquestionable, the art is on another level and it specifically targets people that love beautiful women (typically willing to spend more money than people that like blistering mechanically intense combat). Nonetheless, both are successful (within their lanes) for a number of reasons that I'd like to see the whole industry take note of. Games keep copying Genshin's models and systems, but even Hoyoverse, is not copying Genshin anymore. Hopefully people get by the niche targets of games like Nikke and PGR to at least see the result of the systems they employ, in two rather distant niches, that produce similarly happy communities. That's what matters most, the game targets an audience and then takes care of them..

I think the main reason why you didn't really get much traction is because of the sheer amount of genshin creators with a large following, and many fans tend to stay with their favorite streamers and i haven't seen many people divulge in new creators except for the ones they are used to. I've started playing this game just 2 weeks before red ash event and this was great decission to even start. There was only 2 or 3 days without my daily login since. As you pointed in the video, daily task are not harsh, they're easy, fast and mostly fun. Story? Is great, story in events? Great extension to know game lore better. There are some drawbacks like known 160 wall but after that i do not see anything that would withdraw joy from it. Really happy that friend of mine showed it to me in point to make fun of it but I've tried and I have zero regrets!

Awesome video! I agree 100% with each point that you made, since having a company and dev team that communicates with and understands their player base can make a world of difference. I am so glad I stuck with this game from the beginning and at the same time feel sad when people dismiss the game just because they think it's only "coomer bait". If they'd just stick with it for a little longer, they'd realize that behind that obvious fanservice lies a game with a great story, awesome music, simple but fun gameplay and a dev team that actually appreciates their players. Their loss, I guess :D

Although Nikke has indeed achieved significant success, it won't even come close to Star Rail. The revenue statistics in the video do not cover the Chinese market and the PC+PS platforms, which make up at least 90% of Star Rail's market.

i feel like its a disservice to compare nikke to any hoyoverse gacha game (yes, even honkai impact the 3rd, aside from story) and FGO because it is just better in all aspects. while i'm only going off statements with FGO, nikke has been my favorite gacha this year despite how little i may commit to it sometimes. lets just hope they can keep up the good momentum.

A lot of these features and examples of generosity remind me of Cygames' titles. The ftp friendly aspect of those games were so appealing to me, and it something I value a lot in gachas. Nikke is one of a few gachas I want to start playing one day, and this video made it look even more appealing to me.

About Nikke being better at doing gear grind than Genshin, as a day 1 player i disagree. Even at stage 9, you have to be lucky just to get 1 blue stone to reroll your stats, and you only have 3 chances a day for that. And many units want specific substats to reroll for, for example, units like Alice and Scarlet (among other MG DPS) want 4x Max Ammo, with Alice specifically wants 2 charge speed to be able to function without Maxwell, and all DPS are starving for Atk% substat (Except for Scarlet) and Ele Dmg%. And worse, you have to get the right class and manufacturer for your equipment drop. We have Maid Privaty that function better if your Tove is well invested (she needs Max Ammo substat as much as possible), Shift Up really needs to address our blue stone income, at least make it guaranteed to drop at stage 9 or something.

The Girl's Frontline skin gacha hurt on a spiritual level. I remember the first Halloween banner and wanting the WA2000 skin so bad. Having to hit pity for it really hurt but that skin is still used frequently to this day.

Cool thing, according to the latest dev note sent out - they're now even working on a possible synchro extension to skills as well so you don't have to spend ages trying to 10/10/10 one character leaving so many others at 4/4/4 or worse - 1/1/1

Nikke is great and all but still my number 1 in my heart is dragalia lost. It even finished its main story just right after the end of service was announced and has been archived and preserved well enough with private servers. Just hope Nikke to have a good run and can be preserved just as well and hopefully the megaman xdive treatment with and offline version to set it apart from the other gachas that just died off.

This video did not age well. Revenue for March is as follows 1. Honkai 46 million 2. Genshin 24 million 3. NIKKE 12 million April 1. Honkai 43 million 2. Genshin 36 million 3. NIKKE 19 million If you also include the revenue from China( which is twice as high for both GI and HSR) NIKKE is left far behind both of these games.

@@Kruukk Nikke has the GFL curse - it was never THAT popular to begin with. I only heard of both games from my local airsoft community that has quite a few weebs/cosplayers participating in it. Also Nikke is not cross platform, but it does have a PC client. Meanwhile everyone and their mothers have heard of GI and HSR - though the spark is starting to show signs of burning out. A lot of people I know quit both games and at the last few cons I've gone to, the amount of GI/HSR cosers have dwindled in number compared to last year. Nothing lasts forever. Even the mightiest franchises can and will fall. Just look at Mass Effect.

Nikke is fun and there's definitely stuff to sink your teeth into, but its not a fully 3D game like either honkai or genshin. I'm playing more Blue Archive and Azur Oane than Genshin these days. It's insane that even BA gives you more stuff... And it even guarantees the character you want with that ticket system (after 200 pulls you can get the main character of the banner or the one from other banner, it's like Honkai Star Rail 300 rolls on the standard banner. But on BA it's for the limited time banner)

Despite its full-blown fan service, the game really oozes style in its designs, gameplay and events they got going for it. The sexy character designs are one thing, but the overall quality of the game, the OST, the devs giving out generous rewards and actually somewhat giving a crap about their playerbase, and the way they make all the characters feel iconic and have personality to them and their dialogue are what also makes this game really good. For a game that embraces the degeneracy, it ironically has a pretty intriguing and focused plot. There are characters you can feel for, that have enjoyable personalities and has their purpose in its world. The story and dialogue doesn't feel too bad to read and follow along with, not feeling too bloated with so much unnecessary text and lore-dump, but feels just fleshed out enough and easy to mentally digest it for what it is. Not to mention the satisfying gameplay loop with its unique arcade-like shooter type vibes and mechanics they got going compared to other gacha games. All I can say is that this game is BANGING, in more ways than one.

Some missinformation and omitted things to leave here: -The daily quests do not take 15 minutes, they take much longer than that because you have to go through most game modes, and the "skip battle" button is available after clearing that battle in that day. They do not respect the player's time. -The 60 dollars skin are gatcha skins, as in, you have to buy tickets with real money to have a Chance of getting that skin, and they are time-limited. -There is a "purchase with real money" pop-up that you can't permanently block, it appears at random at moments where when you're tapping in the menus, the purchase button appears where you were to tap, which is very slimy to say the least. -Not everything or every event is voice-acted, most of them aren't, except for the pilgrim related ones. -"unlike genshin" you can't clear the story with any unit you want, because rising up levels is a process that takes years of daily grind, the story is level-gated, basically blocking the story. -Considering the "gameplay is king", there isn't much "gameplay" in this game, very rarely you would want to manual play, you can auto-equip artifacts, so it's basically a "I'm just here to see numbers grow" game. The main story is very good but it's very level-gated, the events most of them are silly fillers, with only a few (the ones involving pilgrims) being peak.

All of what you said about grinding is complaints of a player who haven't passed wall 160. Once you go past that daily tasks become easier than before. 60 dollar is the most you will "have" to spend to get the skin if the gacha doesn't roll on your favour. There is a limit for the gacha roll. Once you roll that,ie having to spend 60 dollors, you will get the skin.thus it's called the 60$ skin. Story isn't level gated. Story is gated by combat power and boss affinity and weakness. And yes you can auto equip gear and auto fight enemies, for a while. Before you reach level 160 or when you fight normal mobs. Once you get to tougher bosses that require you to play because of mechanics, you can say good bye to that.

Short answer: Devs know their target audience and they're making sure the players are satisfied enough to keep playing. The community is welcoming to new players, but since the game gatekeeps itself, it fortunately only attracts people who are the devs' target audience and thank god for that. Games that gatekeeps itself are in a healthy state despite the small toxicity here and there is what I noticed. Nikke and Blue Archive are two examples of the said games.

I'm not a big fan of gacha games, but what I think Shift Up did a great job with is the music. Even if you get tired of the game itself, you definitely won’t get tired of the soundtrack and you won’t forget about the game. And the good thing is that the music is high quality! These are not just cheap chinese monotonous orchestras, but music of various genres. Hell, there's even dubstep! Guys really knew exactly what they were doing.

I kinda feel sad that I missed the red hood event and summer Anis rerun. I was a first day player, but with the BP deficit damage nerfs, and the fact that BlueStacks and LDPLayer kept crashing/lagging/voice kept repeating during loading screens, as well as the fact that the trying to access the stories from raising their affection rates caused the game to crash, made me VERY exhausted and caused me to stop playing the game. I only came back after 2 years, because I only recently learnt they had their own launcher, as well as the fact that I think I watched one of your videos for newer players, which helped me figure out how to get some of the advanced things like i-frames and using someone like Centi to charge up the burst, as well as the Modernia re-run, helped me smoothly jump back into the game. Thanks for the helpful tutorials man!

I only recently started playing this summer. The launch of ZZZ actually pushed me to Nikke b/c of the let down of ZZZ. I like how well it runs on my phone and how it lets you play exactly how much or little of your daily grind.

Another things that baffles me is that people complain about the $60 skin, but there's also the fact that even if you are only getting the gacha skin on the final pull, you're still getting a LOT going with it. x10 Special Vouchers x10 Standard Vouchers x2 Equipment Cores And a lot of other stuff. If we assume one pull costs 300 Gems, then you're getting 6,000 Gems of value from the Vouchers alone. That's roughly $77 USD assuming you're not getting the first-purchase bonus the shop offers, and even with it, that still maths out to just over $39 USD in gems, meaning the actual cost of the skin itself is damn near $21 USD.

i play this game with no complaints for its gacha, the devs are quite generous, and im a pure F2P player. the story is amazing, characters are amazing, fun but simple gameplay and different for a mobile gacha game, great character designs, bond mechanic like fire emblem/persona, great music, lastly, the fan service is without a doubt hot, but theyre so shameless with it that its actually more funny that sexy lmao. its like if you see noir, or aquamarine helm, or volume and ur just like *HOLY SH-T, THOSE ARE HUGE* love this game, im glad it gets the attention it deserves. and genshin players are probably ironically still more horny than us anyways, be honest.
