The resto mod concept has its place I guess, but it’s a shame that they destroyed a ‘69 Z-28 to do it. They could have done the same thing starting with a base model 6 cylinder car and preserved the Z-28. Without the 302 engine and 4 speed, it is no longer a Z-28.
@StreetsideClassics2 жыл бұрын
True, it's better to get rid of more of the 6 cylinder motors than the 302's but some still prefer a Z-28 VIN and badging on their restomods

Basically, this $174,995 Restomod '69 Camaro is a completely new car right down to the new frame and completely new drive train and suspension with a 1969 Camaro body attached on top. Seems wildly over-priced to me but somebody paid nearly $200,000 for it so I guess the old saying is true. "Something is 'worth' whatever someone will pay for it."

I have a 1969 Camaro RS that I bought when I was 19 I'm 66 now. I just have one question. Aren't the other models worth anything? I've watched a LOT of KZbin and all anyone ever talks about is the top of the line 69's. The Z/28, the Z/28 RS, the COPO's ect.... Well some of us happen to have very nice original cars. Not at the top, but not at the bottom either. Why don't we talk about some of them for a change? You might be surprised at how many of us are out here. Now that the Camaro is out of production and will never return as we know it. The lesser models out here owned by us old hands would really like to talk about those. And their value in the future. No disrespect intended, love you channel I'm just giving you a little food for thought and 2 thumbs up. P.S. That's me in the thumb nail, a little younger but leaning on the same care and always will be! LOL

So you are saying that restomods are actually worth the build cost now, and the last 30 years of auction values are a lie?
@StreetsideClassics2 жыл бұрын
It's not that they're a lie but with Covid and the chip shortage causing a global void of new car inventory, the last 30 years of track record are no longer necessarily valid. Even new Kia's are going for $3-8K over sticker, that never happened in the past 30 years either. It's 2022 and almost every new car lot in the country is lucky to be 10% full....the last 30 years does not apply in this current market.

Glad your dad got his SS back, hope it wasn't too trashed he must have been going nuts when it happened. That's me with it in the thumb nail. Mines a driver that's the only way to truly enjoy a classic. I get a lot of thumbs up lol pure enjoyment...Isn't that's what life is all about when a person retires??? Take care!

The real question is why do they keep ruining them with LS swaps..
@StreetsideClassics2 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of people who want the modern powertrain, A/C and every other convenience an LS swap enables but of course this isn't the preference for the purists
@barnabyjones51612 жыл бұрын
@@StreetsideClassics they had a/c before the LS.
@StreetsideClassics2 жыл бұрын
@@barnabyjones5161 key word being modern A/C, which is a world of difference from the very first A/C systems offered on these Camaros. If you put a modern A/C unit on the original powertrain, it causes a noticeable drop in power. With a modern LS, the modern A/C has minimal affect on performance.
