As a computer nerd, watching the video just to hear that the model is overfitting rather than the fact that a possessed doll is trying to kill me was a bit underwhelming

Yeah, I also have seen similar examples with the word "foreign" in English videos, especially on music. That looked pretty weird. Also thanks for such a detailed and good explanation. By the way, I've seen you're from Estonia and I'm from Lithuania, a baltic country, too.

Hope you dont mind me adding onto the countless comments from earlier, but i do legit like how you present your videos on a clear and to the point style. Plus your editing is enough to keep me hooked on the visuals. But yeah I think only once i encountered a "voodoo" when i accidentally or youtube decided to turn on auto captions on my TV once. I do wonder if there's other funny cases of random words in other languages, or even just in general.

It might also just be similar enough to くる in fast speech that the model can't easily distinguish the words without context

From what I can tell, Livakivi's English is near-native or native-equivalent in all aspects but pronunciation. This is the situation that many young, educated Europeans find themselves in because that's where you end up if you get massive amounts of input but don't do any deliberate work (I'm in the same boat). How good (i.e. native-like) your pronunciation is going to be under these circumstances depends on a number of factors, but first and foremost on your native language. For instance, Dutch, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian natives tend to sound better than most Europeans. I agree that Livakivi's pronunciation can give off a false impression of his overall English competency (at least to uninformed listeners) but lets keep in mind that: 1. Improving one's accent is hard work and it's even harder if you don't do it from the get-go. 2. The juice is often not worth the squeeze, especially if you live in your native country. Nothing about any of this is "a shame".
