As a Parisian, I can confirm that I've already seen the plants getting sprayed with water. I don't know if this process is done often but I definitively saw that while being in the train. It is more like a very small mist coming from pipes above than a thunderstorm inside the station really ( or maybe I've never seen it :D )
@MindTheMap7 ай бұрын
Someone else commented that the thunderstorms are real - even with flashes - so it seems there is something that goes beyond simple watering...

It is a shame that the museum was never built. Sure, some historic train are stored in a wharehouse south of Paris, but when you see what the museum of transportation of London looks like, it is a missed opôrtunity

I confirm that the thunderstorm mode exists. The space is in a dark mode, there are flashes and sounds of lightning and rain. I've seen it several times ! EDIT : I have video but unfortunately a creaking noise from the escalator masks the soundscape of the storm. 😅

I can confirm it too, I have seen it before; it's not really spectacular, the "flashes" are just a LED effects but it's pretty nifty nonetheless.

I doubt they would spray water from overhead like that: it'd be a nightmare of upkeep with the exposed concrete nearby. Now, this is just a guess, but I think a root-watering system would make more sense. Though these are tropical looking plants so maybe some humidity in the air is necessary?
@MindTheMap7 ай бұрын
Especially since it wasn't originally constructed for plants - so there are loads of questions concerning drainage and so on... Would truly love to see how the watering or "thunderstorms" work!

Have you ever been to Atocha Station, one of the main termini in Madrid? That has a totally gorgeous tropical forest on the main concourse inside the 19th-century trainshed.

ah cool we have quite a lot of stations with plants and "jungle" in under ground stations here in Singapore.
@MindTheMap5 ай бұрын
I can imagine, especially as an "indoor jungle" is what your airport is famous for! Are there any stations in Singapore that stand out as a must visit?
@FakeHaqimy5 ай бұрын
@@MindTheMap I think two stations that is must visit is Expo and Gardens by the Bay stations. Expo is a station where its design feels very unique and out of this world. It feels like some sort of spaceship. Gardens by the Bay is a station surrounded by plants and greenery. It is very beautiful when you come out of the station for some fresh air and while going up your surrounded by greenery in the stations. From a wonderful station to a wonderful free public park, (yes Gardens by the Bay is completely free apart from a few things) it just feels great to be there. Some other stations are also great like Stadium because of its Hallow deep design and the escalators are very long.
@MindTheMap5 ай бұрын
@@FakeHaqimy Thank you for your detailed response! I just googled all three and they look incredible futuristic and interesting, at first glance I think Gardens would be my favorite but you probably only get a true impression of all stations on location! At 3:19 we can see water pipes above the steel structure. Since plants need water, it is not impossible that there are sprinklers that make “rain” fall from above. And yes.....in one month, opening of two sections north and south from Pleyel to Orly Airport.

RATP is not the transit authority for the île-de-France's region. In our day, the reponsibility to run the public transport are to the hand of regions and for Paris and his suburb île-de-France created STP (renamed STIF, then île-de-France mobilité). For the RATP they are just an operator, even at his beginning when Paris created CMP.

I remember when I was young once I saw the "thunderstorm", it was like a fog in the whole area for the plants, but it was in fact water being made into a mist and falls on the plants. Now that you say it, it would be cool if they made the lights for the planets turn off and on during this time, to really sell the thunderstorm !

¡Fascinating video and history of the 14! Thank you. I liked most of the video but the animation made my eyes feel ill and I had to look away. This doesn't happen with animated movies, so there was something about that particular animation.

I really like the different topics in your videos. You should get more attention. Btw., from what I've heard, do you speak German? - If so, I would have a question...

Thank you, I appreciate that! Also, I am very much German (some people would even say that I have a pretty thick German accent) so go ahead with your question :)

@@MindTheMapAlso, was mich wirklich mal interessieren würde, wäre, warum du deine Videos auf Englisch machst.
@JP_TaVeryMuch7 ай бұрын
Our host is too much of a gentleman to say what follows, but as you alluded the Englisch narration is pretty much a necessity if one wants to progress in You Tube land. More views, more potential ad revenue, more potential to produce more videos. It's the way of the world, I don't need to tell you, but I rejoice in the use of his own voice. Chuß.
@MindTheMap7 ай бұрын
@MindTheMap7 ай бұрын
Pretty much on point, the potential views especially on niche subjects are much higher. There also is a big established audience in the English speaking Transit and Urbanism niche on KZbin - and a great community. With all that come more potential opportunities, the Ground News sponsorship I got recently for example would not have been possible with a purely German speaking audience. The accent is a downside - at the same time I feel it is somewhat more authentic that a posh British AI voice or paying someone on Fiverr to read my scripts.
