I have heard alot of People say to always replace a swarm catch queen before winter, just to make sure they have a better shot at making winter.

@@KajunHomestead I agree! I need to take better notes at this yard during the flow I get lost in time hahaha

Great videos, Ryan! In the hives with the gallon buckets with sugar water...do you drill small holes for the sugar water to drip out? I have all pierco inhive feeders which are super economical and I don't mind losing the brood space in my hives as most are pretty young but as they mature will likely want them to have that space for brood.

@@AbundanceFarmandApiary yes I drill small holes in buckets. Cost about 3.50 per feeder with no drowning, also no need to open hive just fill bucket back up without touching lid. I need all 10 frames when running singles is another reason.

@@PeabodysApiary I was wondering if that is why you don't use the frame feeders! Since my oldest hives are only 14 or so months old I am constantly feeding them. lol. I can see how this time next year the buckets will be better as they will have it all drawn out. My OG hives are almost ready for that step!! yay!

@@AbundanceFarmandApiary I can tell you when I switched from frame feeders to buckets it made feeding a whole lot easier. Also cleaning the frame feeders took a long time. The buckets I just use a drill brush attachment and dawn at the end of season and then stack buckets away till next year takes no time !

Replace the queen and drop in a frame of capped brood?
@PeabodysApiary3 ай бұрын
@@MinnesotaBeekeeper yes sir already got rid of her, introduced one of my grafted queens. Swarm queens can be hit or miss like this, so they go to the resource yard.
