Damn, these trucks have gotten crazy expensive. Specially considering that they are asking 40k for a work truck trim with no 4x4 when the 3rd gen trd off road used to cost about the same.

True, but this is a huge update and still below the average new car price ($48k). We’ve done it to ourselves, really.

Nowadays only the rich or dumb buy new vehicles. It's best to buy the previous gens used imo. We don't need the extra technology..the previous gens was more than capable.

Would be cool if dealers actually have these in stock.

@@wanderingdaze7018 Sure, like all vehicles, and still $5k less than the average vehicle price in the US (before out the door fees, I might add). Relative to the market, the Tacoma is priced exactly where you would expect it to be across all trims, even the expensive ones.

I love what Toyota did with the Prerunner. My wife and I already own a Gx460 so there’s no need to have another 4wd vehicle, especially living in SoCal. This is the one I’m going with. awesome video.

Thanks so much! You’re probably the ideal customer for the TRD PreRunner!

@@matthewharkness3766 dude nice!! Did Toyota give you an ETA on when the Prerunner is hitting the dealers?
@matthewharkness37665 ай бұрын
The build started on 3/19 and they estimated it would be ready in two months. We’ll see… Looks like Valley Hi Toyota in Victorville has an allocation if you are eager.

I would hand them the money is it was 4WD. 2WD is useless to me since I drive on snow and ice half the year. The SR5 Xtracab is a street truck with no off road chops. I hate to admit it, but Toyota is chasing me to Nissan. You can get a Kingcab in 4WD that isn’t a total stripper. I just need Toyota to do one of two things. Put the nice features on the SR5, or make the pre-runner in four-wheel-drive.
@jax10794 ай бұрын
But the Prerunner doesn't have a ton of "nice" features. What can't you get on the SR5?
@BigHouse9074 ай бұрын
The pre-runner comes with the nicer grill, nicer rims, better tires, a front end lift, upgraded 12” instrument cluster, and the rear locking differential. (The SR5 has none of those) I use my truck off road quite a bit That tire set up that comes on the SR5 is just the side of useless off the pavement. I could build out an SR5 extra cab, but it would cost me a bundle of money on top of the high price they are already asking for the base truck. I need a 6’ bed but like the overall length of the shorter wheelbase. I don’t have kids and have no need for a rear seat. I realize most manufacturers dropped the extended cab all together, so maybe I’m supposed to feel thankful. Nissan still offers the king cab with the rear opening doors. They also have a naturally aspirated V6 which I like. I never intended to leave Toyota after driving one for 38 years, but it’s just about come to that.

@@BigHouse907 Gotcha! I see that you want some of the very specific Prerunner differences wrapped up in a single package. Makes sense. A lot of the automakers have consolidated their trims leaving some of the specific use cases kind of high and dry... In the name of reducing cost and maximizing profit unfortunately.
