It would be hard to explain to someone that hasn't done it, but one of my favorite things about tree work is when you're up in the tree you're living totally in the moment. Just focused on the task at hand and no need to worry about anything else.

You're not at the same place every day. Every tree is different. You constantly learn new tricks. It's physically punishing and mentally difficult at the same time. Extremely rewarding if you take pride in solving complex problems that average people would have no idea how to approach. And most tree people are cool people.

Adrenaline, from having your brain fully engaged working on strategies to counter the effects of gravity. And those moments where you just appreciate the beautiful open expanse from your lofty squirrel perch. Drinking in the cool crisp air and variations of green. In that moment, the created world has order and peace.

I had a huge old oak tree cut down in my yard a few years ago and I sat out in the yard with my sister and we were in awe of the athleticism, strength, mathematical skills, knowledge of physics and work ethic involved in the process of entire crew. Not to mention the thrilling poetry in motion of the entire endeavor. I now watch three KZbin tree crews regularly and L.O.V.E. all three! (I personally have a pathological fear of heights and enjoy y’all’s videos vicariously!)❤❤❤
