It is very unfortunate that we have exhausted the natural reserves of peat. This is a really big problem for the environment. I hope that gardeners will acquire new habits that will not harm the ecology of the planet. Thanks, this is a great video!

Thank you Rosy that was most interesting. Explaining the products that you use in your nursery was also helpful.

Bravo to Rosy for saying this. Nobody needs peat to grow anything. I've seen entire trees growing out of roofing shingles. Plants are not begging to be raised in peat. Here in US people don't even know that there's peat in their potting soil. Most of our peat comes from Canada but that shouldn't deter us from banning peat for horticultural use.

Thanks Rosy, it is urgent to stop using peat. We who produce plants and love nature must start by setting an example. Here in Chile there are still no measures that point there, but enough of covering your eyes. Nurserymen must change the way they cultivate their plants.

On Vancouver island BC, Canada a local soil company is still using peat. Lots of potting soil in garden nursery have peat in it. I like your explanation on not to use peat. I stopped buying it 5 years ago. One day it may happen here.

I always use leaf compost + around 10% vermiculite + perlite for seeds. They grow fine. I've also used just leaf compost and had good results.
