Overall, Vice City has the best vibe out of all 3D era games, it's a true mafioso game. The cast is amazing, the story is great for it's time, the soundtrack is absolutely FIRE & it hits you right in the feels even if you never even had a chance to experience the 80's, lol. The same is true for San Andreas! Those 2 just beautifully capture the 80's & 90's. 20:35, I knew even before you said that you couldn't stand other music that wasn't Rock, that you were either a Metalhead a Rock connoisseur, lol. I have a lot of sentimental memories of playing this game over the years. My brother got it when it came out in '02 and he let me play it, even though I was 9. I was immediately infatuated with everything about it. My friends and I used to have LEGENDARY long conversations about this game. It's also what exposed me to a lot of what would become my favorite bands and artists like Iron Maiden, David Lee Roth, Blondie, Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner and so on. I even unironically like Love Fist lol. And some of the funniest talk radio I've heard to this day, biting satire that still holds up. Captivating story, legendary storyline, top notch voice acting, iconic aesthetics, genius humor, 11/10 for me. Oh, and R.I.P. Ray Liotta. "TOMMY VERCETTI! REMEMBER THE NAME!"

It's never explicitly said... But Diaz actually might not have attacked the deal. Seeing as in the cutscene where Tommy calls Sonny about the deal getting attacked, Sonny is literally sitting at a table with Both a thing of cocaine and cash. Which seeing as Tommy was supposed to buy Drugs they didn't have, it's VERY LIKELY that Sonny was the one who set up the deal and planned to play Tommy the whole time. This makes it really ironic that Lance betrays you to the Forellis, he's literally helping the Actual people who killed his brother. Also Lazlo even more hilariously was a Radio Talkshow host in GTA3. Lazlo is the only reoccurring character in all the 3d and HD GTA games. Being the sole character to make the Jump from 3d to HD.

Somebody else commented on one of my videos a few months ago saying that Diaz might not have been responsible, but I’m not so sure if I’d bank on Sonny having some coke at his table already being evidence of some sort of double cross. They’re already a profitable mafia family, I don’t find it hard to believe that they already have ahold of some drugs and that they’re simply just buying more. Plus, the drugs they have in Liberty City might be getting set to be sold in LC, whereas the drugs Tommy’s meant to buy are intended to be used to start up a Forelli business down there. It could just be easier to buy off of a local seller than to risk transporting goods across multiple state lines As for Lazlo, I always love listening to him in any GTA game. Chatterbox in GTA 3 is hilarious, but dude becomes fully unhinged on GTA 4’s Integrity 2.0 hahaha

Despite all of the flaws with its gameplay and story pacing (Hard agree on having no clue what to do after Copland) I very much enjoy it as an experience to revisit every now and then.

I was born in '92, and remember getting a playstation magazine, or some gaming magazine and on their demo discs, which were always beyond thrilling to get, it had a demo portion for Vice City, and as a 9-10 year old, I was blown away. Can't even begin to tell you how much time I spent on this as a fifth grader, Vrock...the style, the sounds, etc. GTA 4 is my favorite as that was thinking high school me, and that game, especially LCHC resonated intensely with me.....Vice City is art as game, whereas GTA 5 is something I have zero respect for as it stopped being art. Rockstar was slaying it during this era; manhunt, the warriors, san andreas, etc. Absolutely killing it.

I played GTA 3 as a 7 year old. Vice City was an INSANE upgrade. Fully voiced, all-star cast, callback to the previous game, flying, real songs on the radio, amazing colors, mission variety, active protagonist, and, of course, 80s nostalgia had just become cool, but it wasn't quite in full-swing and oversaturated yet. The next game expanded on literally everything above and was set in a closer time to the kids playing it, so it makes sense that it's beloved. Rockstar had great developers once...

The only major criticism I have for Vice City has to be how much the money attained poorly scales with game progression. Initially, you'll be earning more than enough to buy weapons and cause chaos and you will certainly always be reimbursed, pedestrians drop just enough, side missions and missions themselves give out just enough. All of this allows you to perpetuate an ever-increasing amount of slaughter and chaos. The problem is that halfway through the game, you sort of reach a cap where missions pay 3K at most while weapons suddenly cost far more (The M4 costs $5,000!!), meaning that if you want to continue having any sort of fun and go into massive shootouts with gangs and the police, you'll have to endlessly grind for money at your properties or rely entirely on weapon pickups. This never really fails to drastically worsen the experience for me, a testament at how shabby the late game is.

vice city was just a fun game to play, it was new, fresh and original, just because it had a lot of movie references, doesnt mean it was a parody of the 80s, that was just the time it was set in, the game had a legit story of its own, a story that actually inspires many people, a man that lost almost 2 decades of time to his life over some jealous person that set him up, instead of giving up, he took most of those years back within a very short amount of time just by pure hustle and made his nemesis pay the price when he discovered the truth.

vice city was the first game i ever played, but the nostalgia isn't the point - vice city had an IMMACULATE atmosphere. driving around the colorful streets with every other alleyway having something completely different and new to explore was a great feeling. especially the first island. in my opinion, the second island is good but it doesn't compare to the feel the first one had. driving around in the sunny weather with vibrant colors everywhere and just cruising around is a great feel. i'm worried for gta 6 as it might just change up vice city's map way too much, to the point it more resembles a reskin of gta 5, like 5 was more of a reskin of 4.

I believe I made this criticism in my video about San Andreas, but I've personally never minded the gang territory prerequisite since I've always enjoyed conquering Los Santos to the point where when I play casually, I'll usually have enough territory already to start the last mission by the time it becomes required. For me VC has perfect balance. Not as frustrating as 3, but still is difficult enough, lacks some stuff like car workshops and swimming, but not overpacked like SA(like fitness of you character, hunger, girlfriends, fighting styles etc.) But the atmosphere and music... my man, that is pure platinum(I got hooked on Blondie, Motley and MJ because of VC). Yeah, the story is Scarface from temu and there is Mafia, that had way better story, but VC plot is solid. Unlike that big steaming pile of garbage from 3.

San Andreas for the new features, bigger map + story, Vice City for the vibes, iconic radio tracks and all around fun arcade like world with the side missions and entertaining characters. Alot can be compared between the two and it comes down to personal preference at the end of the day so with all that accounted for VC/VCS will trump SA for me every time. PS. I wished R* kept the trails option for SA, most people didn't like it but i think it adds to the atmosphere of the game world more.

I've got quite a few mods so it's hard to pinpoint exactly which specific one upscales the map, but I think it's a mod called the 80s Atmosphere Pack 3.0. You can find it on Mix Mods. This mod also updates things like the cars on the road and weapon textures though, so keep that in mind before installing it

I just found an HD menu map that is in the style of the 10th anniversary version with the colorful gradient like the weapon icons. I think it looks pretty sweet and I am happy with the look

Honestly, heres the thing. Even if a games a clone of its precursors, it can still outdo them. When your game is a clone/reskin, you have significantly less work to do on the engine and core mechanics. Given similar development times, it gives you more to put into making the experience unique However. "Clones" often dont get the luxury of dev time. For a great publicised example, Fallout New Vegas.

Objectively I think GTA:SA is the better game, everything GTA:VC does GTA:SA does better however that doesn't mean it's not a really bloody good game and probably a second place in the 3D era of games. It was my first GTA (Vice City) that I owned and was one of the first games I got on my PS2 so maybe nostalgia plays a part in that high placement. I think in general GTA:SA > GTA:VC > GTA III with the Stories games being similar or slightly lower to their original inspiration games.

San Andreas was my first GTA game so I have a lot of nostalgia for it, but add in how good of a game it is and it easily becomes not only my favorite GTA game, but my favorite video game of all time. As far as the rest of the 3D era goes, either Vice City or Vice City Stories come in at second while the other is a close third (they’re both so fun that it’s hard for me to choose which is better lol). After that, it’s Liberty City Stories, followed by GTA 3 as my least favorite

I don't remember what each of them specifically do since it's been a while since I've had to mod my game, so if you go out searching for them, make sure you read up on what exactly they each change. I can tell you why its so beloved and why so many look fondly back upon it beyond what you say here, it was the last time rockstar made a game that was a pure homage, with no satire of the american dream, IE when rockstar just shut up and played the music, and took itself seriously save for a few little injokes here and there, and there was only one bad joke in the entire game from fernando martinez as he's talking before crockett's theme, now all they do is hate on the american dream, while living in cali as the place burns from mismanagement from a drug addict who is high on methanfetamines and you can really tell just how bad they got just based on how much the game of gta 5 hates on the player from the traffic, to the pedestrians, to the writing of the DJ's like you wonder why vice city holds such a special place in everyone's hearts, its the last time a rockstar game from top to bottom was pure fun and its amazing how toxic gta 5 is vs even gta VC the De Edition, like it feels like what the Colonel Cortez described when your talking to him in one of his cutscenes when he talks to you and tells you that your not in Liberty anymore, like change that to LS, and it hits far differently if you've been playing gta 5 and its online just before it really and I think that's why in no small part the online part of gta 5 is the section that is remembered too FYI and why it got so big, its the part of that game that gets away from that and just allows the player to chill that they then ruined with first person movement speed tricks and glitches that t4yhards now use, mark II opressors from Saints Row 3, and all that and now you got everybody going off of moon theories and TGG's bulls=hit streams hoping for anything to tell them when the next game is coming out so all the people who used to come on and chill in RDO and GTA 5 can come on and do it again with a fresh start, hopefully not helmed by such a bunch of dumb fu-cks this time who think game balancing should be a super retarded form of rock paper scissors that you have to pay a million dollars for and vice city is really the last game that is totally devoid of that fckupery really, where just about everything is perfect gameplay wise, save for the car camera where its glued to the body and you cant move it around, and not being able to swim like I really dont know why the DE version didnt try and adapt that one updated system to it really from the rockstar leeds update with VCS, where you have a fatigue meter, and just have it run out before you can get to the next island but everything else was just so great you didnt care, vs 5 where everythings so bad you care about every dumb thing as it just makes everything else worse also FYI look at scarface the world is yours as a sequel to vice city really, kinda takes everything abit beyond and play's it straight, kinda the game we never got that almost kinda prototyped a bunch of features we had in gta 5 and to think we were this close to getting a sequel set in viva las vegas, god damn it lol also with the DE editions change with the weapons, i think its abit of a net negative, atleast with the magnum revolver in vice city, as rockstar went to all the trouble to mimic dirty harry's revolver with that thing where you brace yourself when you use it to counter the recoil of something that powerful and it kinda ruins that, as that was part of the fun with it, it was a nice authentic touch from the period that sold how powerful it was, and it was abit of a give take, which just made it more fun to use something they even carried over into SA with the .50 call, just with abit more movement speed to it I did like the update they did to the stinger though with the blacked headlight covers though, something they couldnt do originally, which was on Crockett's ferrari daytona replica from miami vice, IE what the car is based on, which is where the game takes a huge inspiration from, IE what would the world of Miami Vice mixed with scarface look like, I do wonder why we didnt get Tony's Caddie though, given their literally the same car that was used in both the movie and the tv show though, but it might just have been to big to scale into the game properly

I’m new to the old gta games and so far gta sa is by far the best but I will admit vice city is a very fun game and I love the gameplay, it’s just too short tbh. I’m gonna finish gta 3 eventually but it really lacked an objective tbh and I got pretty bored after like 2 hours of playing

I’ll consider print works to be part of the main story, but given how none of the other missions really have to do with the main story and can fit at any point in the game’s timeline, as well as the fact that I believe any two of them don’t have to be completed, I still consider it side content

I disagree seeing as how the ending where Roman dies is no longer available to play after already playing the mission where Kate dies. The asset missions on the other hand pretty much are just side content that Rockstar made a requirement to complete in order to unlock the end of the game in order to artificially inflate the game's story. The way I see it is like if Rockstar were to make the completion of 2/3 of all the Strangers & Freaks missions and side minigames in GTA 5 a prerequisite to unlocking the last mission. I get it if you're trying to argue that Tommy robbing the bank or running the film studio are part of the story, but you can't convince me that getting like 100 private dances at the strip club has anything to do with it haha

@@DougTheDog6 even pile position club asset has more sense than Trevor driving to vanila unicorn to take it. I think it's psychological effect why you can't accept assets as story because you're used to think not mandatory missions are not part of main story.

I enjoy VC but the no-swimming just ruins it for me. - You're gonna have boats, where you have to jump on the boats, you can't just press a button and go, and you instantly die if you touch water? What is this backwards 8-bit era design?? What where they thinking??

I still play it and i found the controls exactly the way they should and among the easiest i've seen on a game. For example Gta V controls are a headache for me. Maybe i'm old.

Vice City's weakest link by far is its final mission. Let's be honest: "Keep Your Friends Close..." was a fucking anti-climatic and confusing mess. Their attempt to pay homage to the final mansion shootout in Scarface translated into easily the most underwhelming final mission in the franchise, and that's coming from someone who doesn't exactly love The Exchange from GTA 3. What a shitty ending to otherwise one of the greatest and most atmospheric games ever made.

Yeah, for as much crap as I’ll give GTA 3, at least its finale felt like a finale. Vice City’s final mission was just kill some goons > kill Lance > kill Sonny > roll credits. It wasn’t very creative and it just ends so quickly, which is such a shame given how much work it takes just to unlock that damn mission

to me, VC is even worse than 3. what you call "improvements" i call "adding a bunch of broken features on top of other broken features". 3 was already pretty broken, but at least the devs tried to work with what they had, so it feels mostly tolerable (until Espresso-2-Go). with VC, they had the opportunity to fix the major flaws of 3, but instead they chose to focus on adding stuff, so to me it feels even LESS tolerable than 3. you can TELL it was meant to be an expansion. this and the "buying assets after Cop Land" part really ruined my experience with VC and made me quit. soundtrack's great, but i can listen to it on youtube if i want. i really have no reason to come back to VC.

Easy way to get money to buy properties is find a tank and do the vigilante missions I made like $250k in that bought all the properties and unlocked the final mission in no time, thank me later 😂

Yeah in my second playthrough where I took my time with the game, I realized that I had a lot of excess money to buy up properties after having already finished Paramedic and Firefighter, but assuming you’re just here for the story and don’t wanna get stuck doing side content to progress, it becomes a bit of a pain in the ass to buy up those properties lol As for Vigilante though, I’ve done the strat of getting a tank for it, but the only way I could find one was by getting enough collectibles for it to spawn at the army base so I’m not going through that grind again hahaha

@@DougTheDog6 I’m an old school player who used cheat codes, I got the definitive edition and used the tank cheat at the beginning it’s literally indestructible and u already know u get the extra 50 armor and just like the firefighter and ambulance missions after 12 in a row that money starts to multiply like crazy lol 😂😂 I just didn’t feel like grinding towards the end of the game for money so using the tank and vigilante missions was easier for me than the other side missions

Fair enough hahaha. I used to abuse cheat codes in San Andreas but I think the modern world of gaming has made me grow out of using them to the point where I forgot Vice City even had any. Cheat on brother!
