This project is actually the most important for MMR as MSRDC is building it to also connect the Samruddhi mahamarg , konkan expressway , MTHL , Delhi Mumbai expressway jnpt spur and other metro lines .

Last time I checked, there was no provision for Rewas Karanja bridge in this corridor. This 3km bridge is the most important link from Uran to Alibaug. It will further reduce the distance by 75km between Rewas Jetty in Alibaug and Karanja Jetty in Uran. Plus, Uran is very near to Chirle, the termination point of MTHL but nobody is ready to discuss or even acknowledge the need for it.

@@just_a_curious_thinker Colaba sealink is quite far fetched as it would be too long and would restrict movement of vessels on the entire Eastern Seafront. Meanwhile Uran bridge will not even be 3km. It will just be a regular bridge like hundreds of others in the MMR, the only thing is the mangrove terrorists won't let you build over even one tree.

Bhiwandi and Kalyan-Dombivli are centrally located and have good train and road connectivity to rest of the country with Mumbai, hence they have great potential to be Mumbai's business hub.

Vasai Diva line should be properly developed and local trains should be introduced on this route for better western and central line connectivity. At present going to dombivali and thane from vasai is very lenghty by train and roads are in bad condition.

Yes you are right, Maharashtra Government must Extend Add the Local Line too from Vasai Road to Direct Thane-Kalyan Line, Right now, Only Express Line is there Which Connect from Vasai to Direct Thane-Kalyan. If Local Line too get added, It would actually Save the 75 Km of a Local.

Metro on this corridor may not be feasible right now. BRTS is fine. Instead govt should try for RRTS to start with and thereafter introduce metro, similar to Delhi meerut RRTS corridor. Also this corridor should start from dahanu.

Actually Mumbai really needs a RRTS network connecting Mumbai mainland with far-off towns such as Badlapur, Virar, Panvel/Khopoli, etc. There are lakhs of commuters who spend many hours in overcrowded local train travel on a daily basis.

Exactly distance being long, metro will be redundant. RRTS similar to Delhi meerut model is way to go. All major towns can have their limited metro plying in their respective areas.

This is all good but wouldn't it be better if they just extend the Virar-JNPT spur to Alibaug? It would save a lot of money. The Virar-JNPT spur will be connected to Samruddhi marg, Mumbai Pune e-way and MTHL. This also eliminates the need to create a dedicated elevated corridor between MTHL and Mumbai Pune e-way.

Biggest scam of a project! In 2008, there was no Delhi Mumbai expressway nor was there a JNPT spur. Once both are in, this corridor is redundant. If the govt was so serious about public transit, by now they could have easily started locals on the panvel vasai route via diva. All Maharashtra can do is talk big, but in reality it's a loser state with no will power to do anything.

Every place is connected and getting good infra except for Vasai. Its the most neglected region. There is not a single road which connects vasai to mumbai, as existing highway is a roundabout way.

Delhi got Eastern Western ring roads/expressways to divert unnecessary traffic entering and exiting Delhi. Sad to see that Mumbai which is the financial capital of India lagging behind due to neglect. Unfortunately nobody talks much about these type of neglected projects in either media or social media.
