Love it, Chirstine! Looking forward to the Fit Clinic. I think it's the next level for me - how to adjust patterns to my body measurements, trying to figure it out by myself, sometimes it's really hard though. Thanks for this, it will be so helpful! Cheers! p.s. I hope you are doing well. Sending PNW hugs!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 I’m so glad you’re excited about the Fit Clinic-it’s definitely a great way to take your fitting skills to the next level! I totally get how challenging it can be to adjust patterns to your body measurements on your own, but once you start learning the techniques, it gets much easier. I’m confident the course will be a big help in solving those fitting issues! I’m doing great, thank you! Sending you big PNW hugs right back! 😊💖

Thanks for this great overview! 👏 Awesome news about your upcoming course- your instruction is always so thorough and comprehensive! 🤗 I took your beginner course and still refer to those videos and the booklet quite often! ❤ One fit issue I have with ready-to-wear tops and dresses that zip up the back is an extreme gaping from my middle to upper back, where the zipper curves outward and makes it look like I have a hunched back 🙈 The front will look perfectly normal and fit just fine, but then I turn to the side and see this issue…I avoid buying or sewing anything with a back zipper because of this! 🙃 Based on your overview, I’m thinking the remedy for this would be a sway back adjustment for my upper back- is this correct? 🤔

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 I'm so glad you found the beginner course helpful and that you're still referring to the materials! ❤️ Regarding your fit issue with the back zipper, it sounds like you're on the right track! A sway back adjustment could definitely help with the gaping around the zipper. This adjustment helps remove excess fabric at the lower back and can smooth out that area. For the upper back, you may want to also consider a slight adjustment to the upper back area (sometimes called a 'rounded back adjustment') to address that curve and prevent the zipper from pulling out. It can really help improve the fit! 😊 If you try this, make sure to test it on a muslin first to fine-tune the fit. Hope that helps!

@ Hmm I don’t think that’s the right fix for this then…Maybe I did a poor job of explaining the issue😅 So my lower back tends to be fine with zippers. The problem is that the fabric and zipper doesn’t lay flat against my mid to upper back…It gapes and curves away from the back of my neck and mid to upper back, in the area between my shoulder blades- It seems like my shoulder blades are too prominent for a back zipper maybe? 🤔 I think I need the exact opposite of a rounded back adjustment lol, or maybe I’m looking at the issue in the wrong way and it actually has something to do with my shoulders?…Or maybe the zipper curves out like that because there’s actually not enough fabric, indicating a need for a broad back adjustment?….not sure!🙈 Don’t worry about trying to diagnose this issue though, it’s not urgent and I don’t want to stress you out over it😅

I have the problem of having to add 3 inches between my apex and shoulder…. If a garment is sleeveless it is not a problem. However, how do I adjust sleeves to fix the new arm holes?
@SewingandtheCity17 күн бұрын
To adjust the sleeves for a deeper armhole, you’ll need to lengthen the sleeve pattern to match the new armhole curve. You can do this by adding extra length to the sleeve cap, ensuring it lines up with the newly adjusted armhole. You may also need to adjust the sleeve side seam to maintain the correct fit around the arm. It’s a good idea to make a muslin or test the fit on scrap fabric before cutting into your final fabric to ensure everything aligns properly!

Don't you live in spain? I have been so worried about you with the storms going on there I hope you're okay,, and you're dog, too.

Yes, in Spain, right in Valencia! We are ok but many neighborhoods not too far away are in total devastation. It's so sad! We've been helping out bringing supplies to the worst areas ❤️ Thank you for thinking of me!
