I would like to say that the endless mode having filler waves is prob because it leaves space to add future event bosses (like the calamity minions from the current halloween event, and more things from the future), also they ARE making a new core game mode, it being the Nightmare mode John has given us sneak peaks of, also, nearly every thing after the endless update makes you want to use older towers over the new, stronger ones, like the TB event or the Early chapters of halloween, also john has stated that Gold Juggernaut, Warship, and Refractor are sort of a ceiling that stops how strong a tower can be, also I think Juggernaut is just supposed to be one dimensional, he is meant to be a big man, with big gun, and big damage, also john doesnt have hidden detection until max on top path which makes it lose armor pierce, he's more so there to help with the early game while you save up for stronger stuff, and he also needs someone else to deal with hiddens, also juggernauts top path was very good during the tower battles event, The battlepass was fixed this year and it felt much shorter and much easier to grind on, with having the towers be the only "hard" things to grind for in the battlepass, The UI was fixed and is much better now, also the only towers i would call outdated is juggernaut, and he gets tons of skins anyways, anyways sorry for yapping ignore if there are spelling mistakes.

another really cool thing they could add would be something analogous to Deep Rock Galactic's Deep Dive or BTD6's odyssey system, where players have to complete multiple maps (possibly random each time, daily/weekly rotation or fixed, could work either ways) in a row for extra rewards, which would solve some problems like the lack of harder modes and giving players an alternative to endless if they want to have a longer gaming session, while adding more incentive to not just grind the same map over and over again using the same strat. Mad props for the video, always a great watch!

John has a lot of freedom when we talk about every mode now. Right now last waves are just crowds of zombies but with endless enemies it will not make it just crowds of enemies on last waves and we can use w lot of enemies like eradidog,avatar,hunter and etc for expert. (No stupid 3 predators spam on expert). And plague guardians could be both for easy and elite.

18:15 john bottom path does not have hidden detection, unless you count the axe ability which CAN hit hidden enemies, but, he himself cannot fire at them unless they are revealed.

Play TDX… and once I get everything in TDX, it’ll end up in the same boat as TDS. I’ll only join for events because I’ll already have everything and enough money to get the next big thing before moving on to a new tower defense game. The truth is, as an end-game player, what they might not want to accept is that *they've beaten the game*. There’s nothing left for them to accomplish, and it happens to everyone-even players in GTA V who get billions of dollars. At some point, they have to accept that all they can do is either play for fun or come back seasonally for events. NOW, you can actually negate this by, only playing when you want to and not for the grind! you'll feel like your grinding for something new everyday instead of having it handed to you XD

I don't know why but I actually liked how Elite and Expert is a stronger version of Easy and Intermediate. It might be just me TBH, but I like it if the enemies were reintroduced and bumped up their potential to maximum. Since it encapsulates more on what you've learned from them and test how you'll react according when they're given.

im level 166 and have already completed all the current battle pass up to the nuke level, and i love the idea for the selective battle pass, freshing it out so you can focus on what you want and get exclusive skin content if you want it, but i think major items like the end of battle pass nukes or EXP should be capped withing (UNLOCK X AMOUNT OF ITEMS BEFORE PURCHASE) this could work really well with things like relic

I feel like when John stats that his game is t beginner friendly, kinda is the reason his game is slowly dying out. If you are trying to push to a more slimmer audience then you will experience having low player base, with John saying you need past experience with tower defence games really lowers his audience down a lot. Because most of tdx’s player came from tds. If John were to solve this problem he could add a section dedicated to the newbies who are new to tower defence games and like realistic military themes which is exactly what tdx is. OR that John made this as passion projects and doesn’t give 2 shots about playbase thus making my entire argument useless but who knows.

One of the ways they could further make the game less repetitive is to make it so that depending on what maps you play on, you'll face different enemies instead, similar to how in World Tower Defense, different maps mean different enemies, even if you are playing on the same difficulty. For example, on one map, you may face elemental enemies, while on another map, you will instead face western cowboy-themed enemies. This means you will have other considerations when playing other maps aside from just map positioning and tower placements as you then have to consider what type of enemy you will face.

I feel like the events having an easy mode as well as normal and nightmare would be a good idea so new players can experience the events without having to have the best towers and the best strategy for it. Edit, i would like to add that im not a new player complaining about the difficulty i have every tower but golden mine layer and I’ve beaten all the events except their nightmare versions because i dont really try, i make this point because i like playing with my Friends who dont really play tdx or tower defense x as much as i do. And they have trouble beating the events and i have trouble beating the events with them in a squad. Something like tds has where it maybe you can select preset loadouts or something like that.

I recently started playing this game again, and I'll be resolute about it. I used to hate this game mainly because of the grind, but to say that I only hate it because of the grind really feels like it isn't as valid and may just be too vague. As a TDS player who is above level 470 now and a TDX player who played the game on launch and will continue to play it until now, I can say that both games are simultaneously flawed and that both aren't perfect when it comes to grinding for better towers. What I like about TDX is the thought put into it, visually, the game is appealing, the game is very optimized compared to TDS, and I like how the developers are willing to push out more QoL updates. Though originality wise... It's a bit murky, since it is really hard to make original concepts for towers but that doesn't really matter when it comes to TD games in general. I'm starting to really like this game again because of the pacing it provides and it really is refreshing to see something like TDX come out as something new from one of my favorite youtubers (John Roblox ftw). I mean, free speed up in a solo game? Compare that to TDS where you still have to grind for these "Timescale Tickets" which still cost Robux by the way, and I'm looking forward to see endless mode for myself once I'm ready for it. TDX is a nice game, and for me personally, it's quite underrated. I just hope that the developers of TDX don't turn a blind eye and become like TDS where it became somewhat of a cash-grab, unlike the passionate developers they were back then.

I want to point out something. The reason why the TDS devs seem "greedy" isn't because they want to make cash graby micro transactions. It's because they need to do that to stay afloat. Endoportex made a great video of it. With the rising popularity of brainrot TD games like toilet tower defense and anime TD games, TDS has been losing players since. In order to pay the massive dev team and to appeal to younger audiences, they have to resort to gambling, so that they can pay the dev team and increase the quality of the game. However, in an ironic twist of fate, that's why TDX has less gambling involved because of the extremly tiny dev team.

for modifiers they well get added if you actually do watch john dev stream in the attack helo stream he said that nightmare rated maps such as the HQ map he showed has modifiers(makes all enemies around 20% faster) for extra gamemodes the halloween event is technically new gamemodes since they are perm and nightmare rated maps is supposed to release soon enough(not confirmed but might be with chapter 3 or 4) which can be viewed as a new way to play the game and an extra challenge especially maps such as d-day(playing endless well be chaos in these maps lol) there well be missions added john commented on that in the video of the attack helo showcase video when one of the fans asked him and i quote "Please stop making towers like 50k+ Its SO painful to grind out hours of gameplay for a tower. Im a guy who doesn't touch grass and 82k for chopper is insane. Like 40-50k would be reasonable." john responded with "we will introduce additional methods to grind gold, one of them being missions" about content for end game players who got everything in the game PVP is a good way to add near infinite content to know how much useful pvp is TB didnt have a real update for like idk 2 years? and its still alive solely for this gamemode so this gamemode is a good addition where endgame players can also play competitively with each other to erase there boredom it will be released in november(probably well get delayed tho) for grinding as a person who grinded for both attack helo warship and other towers (such as slammer medic etc) the grind was not at all boring in fact it was fun the problem is more so because of the thing i call "gamer mentality" which players always look for the fastest way to grind even if it means sacrificing the main thing they are here for(fun) i got warship and attack helo from purely just gathering medals with different harder maps and since the towers i had werent so good it was actually a strong and hard challenge to win expert on normal and hard maps even when i lost the rewards i got were still decent although that took me like over a month for warship but the most important thing is it was fun thats why i hate the battepass because no matter what you do the grind well always be repetitive and annoying there is no fun way to grind i hope the promises john made by making a fun way to grind battle pass is true and it well be fun

The best way to grind is to make friends and play with them. The amount of endless runs I had done did not feel boring since I was helping other people progress, and watching them play around with the new towers they've unlocked is always nice.

Tbf, I would say that the golden towers being laser is a burden more than a benefit, newer game modes have enemies specifically designed to suppress the golden towers' abilities means that they are not viable for enemies such as assailants. While there is an argument that they both have paths to ignore laser resistance, those are not the paths that you would typically use for DPS as they have significantly less cost efficiency

Tdx probs one of the better games roblox has, you can see they are actually trying to make good content and this update was insane, they take their time to cook something amazing, and having to play a game 24/7 is insanely draining, i think this game still has problems with repetitive grinding for the battlepasses for example, but its compensated by the durations of the battlepasses.

35:10 for the sandbox one I experience from a not so well known td game I played before was Arena Tower Defense their sandbox mode It has towers that you own you can upgrade them to max test out secrets that a tower has and as for skins part for player just get free skin without earning it not so much its base more on towers and combinations to test out which tower is optimal for this boss and you can spawn yourself some enemies without worrying loosing and with a option to go back to the main hub/lobby Edit: As well as modifiers you make your own lobby you can either add modifiers before starting like lights out where the whole map is in complete darkness only with little illumination only about 3 studs around the player or double boss hp with modifiers enable you get increased rewards but Idk how john will implement it in TDX though extra/not relevant: during their 1st anniversary i think their skin obtainment was unique forcing you to join one of their old games and do a certain objective on a certain map it was awesome sadly its somewhat dead fopr every holiday even peaking at 1k-3k at most its basically BTD6 concept of sandbox and secrets for towers and maps

For Mert's point on compared to rangers 100 dps, I think he meant that towers are expected to exceed this dps significantly or have a useful niche to not be considered just trash by the playerbase and just assumes development will just go through the simpler route of making new towers which is just stronger ones leading to powercreep

Modifiers would be really stupid cool and even a basic modifier like 2x health would be a nice one or half economy for more suffering and mix both for regular economy but with double health, To me it seems basic as It seems like its just duo eco and just adding 100% more hp to zombies (possibly making Mobster's bottom path shine in the normal modes) or maybe it would just be all enemies having an extra 100% of their health as a shield Another one is just all enemies being like grumble (basically you're base is oneshot to anything no matter how much health you have (basically just current gamemodes in btd a bit boring on paper but is gonna make some enemies hell to deal with and probably make strategizing something to bother doing) (disable powerups modifier and disable rewinds its gonna help with people getting used to the nightmare modes to realize powerups arent usable or that they cant redo this on the same wave) (Snowflake towers- All towers dies in one attack incentivizing the use of abilities such as uber instead of just placing down medic, baiting so your valuable towers doesnt die and my beloved mobster's death cashback to have more use) All these ideas are pretty unoriginal but to me would seem like a niche challenge or maybe it could just be for fun to me restrictions kind of feel accomplishing to beat so it gives me (an endgame player) something to do that isnt too hard or too easy such as doing expert in an impossible map or just doing expert in a simple map like oil rig A loadout randomizer- It shuffles your towers (that you own) and ofcourse it will only be seen once you join in otherwise you would just shuffle until you're satisfied if sniper were to get reworked I could think of for one path to just lowering its base damage but giving it the +x dmg on primary target still keeps the pierce but give it a 1-2 second aim time and a 2 second reload so its not completely useless with edj nor is it too overpowered

this might make laser gunner overpowered, but how about giving bottom path lasergunner a either permanent or temporary Armor shred (with laser resistance being the only resistance not affected) on it's ability. This way it is justifiable for later rounds of some gamemodes, where enemies have insane resistanced you can't account for with just having more powerful towers. Top path could have the same armor shred, but instead of being a one and done burst ability... the microstun ability could do permanent armor shred (with the upper limit being about 25-40% of the enemy's starting armor). Also a shop-like battlepass feels kinda meh... This is a personal preference, but I really like Deep rock Galactic's "Skilltree" based battlepass. For each level/objective you complete you get a single token to expand your "battlepass tree" allowing players to choose whatever they wanna pick from the event, while also motivating them to get deep into the battlepass by locking the "legendary" quality skins and new towers on the very end of the "Battlepass tree's" branches. It could be made so in between each tower/skin there is about 1 or 2 nodes that give either a consumable or gold, so every Battlepass "Skillpoint" feels rewarding to a certain degree...

I think another issue you didn't mention is that too many towers ignore resistances. The core game mechanic itself is outdated, almost. They should really narrow down the towers that can ignore resistances, as it was meant to be an interesting counter to this mechanic, not a common one. In turn, scale down the amount of resistances found on some of the enemies, which were put there in the first place because of how powerful some of the towers are

I think one of the many reason is because TDS also released A LOT of things in the same year TDX did fewer things than usual, for exemple: Fallen rework; Release of Night 1, 2 and 3; Rework of many towers; TWO event towers at once, both can be gotten by free; Gatlin Gun release and Merc base release. these things are not in order, if people can say, you guys can add them to this list.

i think that tdx will have so much more features but they just don't have enough hands to work on all that even tho they are making updates prety quickliy and they are very high quality ofc with some exeptions and the main problem is time

TDX's current state is not that bad, with the updates given, the new QoL is really refreshing for the game. Comparing TDS vs TDX is ridiculous for me because their mechanics are very different in terms of gameplay, but QoL and UI comparisons can be made (maybe?). Despite having a single coder, they should be praised for bringing such good updates to the game. Also new nice content is added at every opportunity (Endless, Abilites, Set ups, [team feature that will come in the future] etc. Other than that, what I would like to add is that the game approaches new players without mercy (for events). For example, if a new player wants to get the relic tower, he needs to grind in 178 turns (I assume they don't have 50% and I think they will finish their turn in 20 minutes). That's 60 hours (2.5 days). I don't think everyone can spend that much time on a game grind. I have enough end game towers + gamepasses. I'll probably do the N4 Nightmare grind and reduce the grinding time to 30-50 matches and probably make a profit from my time. I think the grind needs to be lowered. In addition, they can help new players by doubling the tokens at certain times (they can make the tokens 2x on the weekends like TDS, when most of the players will be on holiday). ) or ( TDS, in this haloween event, giving ready-made setups for normal nights (easy mode) and leaving the players to find tactics can also be helpful, so that only someone with a ranger can see and play N4 and higher-level players with better equipment can play Nightmares. Tdx needs pvp, missions/quests similar to how the tds quests work and more ways to gain coins except for endless since the game is beginner unfriendly only dedicated players get to see all the cool new towers which is why there isnt that big of a player count

I agree with most of these point. The only thing is TDX is currently in the equivalent of 2022 TDS where it's small updates with one or two big updates with very small bug fix and skin crate updates.

the power creep problem really makes no sense think about it, do you think a shotgunner has to be the same as something like attack heli or juggernaut? of course not, they are much more expensive than shotgunner and take more hours to grind. i do agree with gjugg powercreeping on most of the other tower tho
