In every succesful big 3 in the history of the NBA, The job of the clear third guy is to compliment the 2 other stars. Either it's Rodman and Draymond defensively, Ginobili coming off the bench or Bosh developing a 3 ball and be willing to sit on the perimeter despite being a postup player. This is the first instance i've ever seen the 2 bigger stars being forced to adjust their game to the 3rd star. Westbrook has stayed the exact same despite clearly not being the 1st option on his team anymore while LeBron and AD need to play as stretch bigs for the 3 of them to exist.

All you gotta do is look at klay during the KD years, already a potential 1 on a playoff team, he gladly took the looks a 3 and sometimes 4th option would get if KD and curry were hot, and just get open and keep creating movement and spacing regardless with great defense night in and out. The job of the 3rd star is arguably as great as the 1st, it’s absolutely a sacrifice that when truly made, it’s hard to fail. You gotta have the 1 pulls a bron against the mavs for it to go to to shit at that point.

Russell Westbrook for the last five years/seasons has to be a great example of a player who could contribute a whole lot as a superstar but chooses to not execute properly when needed most. There was that time where he mentioned the only thing he worries about is him and the basketball. That statement there lies the problem. Instead of contributing as a superstar the way he should, he goes about doing it in the most self destructive way, and the team is collateral damage. 2014-2016 Russ is the best Russ is ever gonna get. Congrats to him and being the Trip Dub beast he is but it ain't helping the Lakers get a championship that's for sure.

Same as playing with Harden and Beal and now Lebron and Davis?) Like honestly are you in their locker room? That's over an extremely small sample size. Wanna know who is top 3 in turnovers per game this year despite having a lower usage rate and minutes played, and lead the entire league in turnovers last season? Tell me 1 single year Russ has improved his offball play, whether offense or defense. To this day, he still sleeps on defense, he still walks back during transition, he still takes stupid shots. Bron’s best teams has always been the best when the Big 3 consisted of a big that can shoot 3’s and be the solid third option, the second option being a playmaker that can get a bucket if needed, and a team of role players. Lebron in those situations was big dog. Wade took a backseat to him and Bosh was willing to take a step back for them. Kyrie was the sidekick and Love was the 3 pointer big. With this dynamic, Russ is too ball dominant and too inefficient with his shot that it’s hard to succeed with that. Russ is at his best when you give him the ball as much as you can and let his shot attempts go up. It’s why I always said Westbrook would never win as the first option. Even when he won an MVP
