It points the the South Pole. Not Antarctica per-say. Our scholars in those days had a lot of knowledge about the poles of the earth as well as the magnetic fields. I'm sure they would've been able to map a route to Antarctica before other countries if not for the invaders who burnt and destroyed so much knowledge from our ancient libraries.

In Ancient Indian mythology it's mentioned In his famous book ‘Albaruni’s India’ Albaruni states’they(hindus) adopt the theory of mount meru being under the north pole and that of the island vadavamukha lying under the south pole. ‘(chapter 26 page 265-266) Thereby it is clear that according to hindu scriptures name of antarctica is vadavamukha. In Sanskrit Vadavamukha means ‘mouth of mare’ the Bhagavatha purana which speaks about all the Dweepas, Varshas and Kandas. We are in Jambudweepa, Bharatha Varsha and Bharatha Kanda. Similarly Russia was called Rishi Varsha. Every Varsha is seperated by Mountains and Rivers sometimes Seas. By this description you would have understood that the entire landmass was together. Which means these things were written at the time of Pangea and since humans were travelling to and fro inside these land mass and that too in Ice age, the references are given post that. There is a mention about a place where it will be dark for 6 months continuously. This place is good for doing Yagyas. That place is none other than North Pole. So we have references about the entire globe. Just we need to research on it. 3.8k views
