Thanks. Im in tokyo now. What japanese brand will have the best leather?

I think the Mizuno Prexy Kip is some of the best glove leather. It performs really well and also has an ultra-premium feel. The gloves made from this leather are lightweight but don't feel light to the hand, the leather feels thick and has a little sponge to it like a Horween leather but it is definitely thinner and lighter which is cool. Other great leathers include the Wilson Staff steer and kip, both are a level above Wilson's A2K leather offerings in the US... Zett, SSK, Atoms, Trinity amongst others all offer premium grade steer hide as well as multiple type of kip and wagyu.

I love your videos. I'm a Rawlings guy, and I've seen several Japanese rubberball gloves. I was wondering if you could tell me the difference in construction between the rubberball and hardball gloves. Thanks

Ik I'm not the channel, but from my experience, the difference is pretty small. I use a rubberball glove for my baseball league, and the palm has no padding, but it feels hardly thinner than my 44 japan select. Imo, ones on ebay are steals.

Also, you can import a really nice heart of the hide for under 200 dollars if you find a good seller.

I'm thing about buying my son a Japanese JB glove that's wagyu leather. The manufacturer offers both steaming and Yumomi treatment. I saw your video on Yumomi. If I go that route, how will they know how to shape the glove for my son? What instructions should I give them? He's a pitcher in high school.

He probably wants a bit of a deeper pocket and shape a bit like a utility glove. Honestly though it's a personal preference.

I just got a hold of a Wilson Staff glove. It's made in China..11.5 inch..its in good condition. What do you think it's worth?. Thinking of selling it.

I am not familiar with the made in china models but the made in japan models go for $300-$400 used if in good condition. Regardless of origin it should be pretty good if sold originally in the Japanese market.

Zett is solid! the Zett Pro Status line is actually made in Japan. If you want a Japanese glove brand that's actually made in Japan, be careful with Mizuno and SSK because many of their gloves are made in China. For Mizuno specifically you need to buy the limited edition or crafted edition in order to get a glove made in Haga, Japan.

Tie the loose leather strings together, all that shit hanging down gets in the way and it also looks tacky af!

Sorry, but I’ll take a USA made leather Rawlings from the 1960’s or70’s over any of these. Nothing will ever surpass the Heart of the Hide from that era. I still have my old XPG26. That was a mid-upper level Rawlings in those days. I just replaced the laces and that glove tightened up like new. I just bought my grandson a XPG10 Eddie Mathews model, and he loves it. $40 off EBay for a glove almost 60 years old that has the good stiff feel of heavy, quality leather. He’s 9 years old in Little League and catches everything.

you will feel differently if you actually handled these gloves, the quality and leather difference is very noticeable.

The Japanese play baseball better, their manager made better decisions and managed his pitchers better. They stole with no outs and runner on first and we had betts on 1st with no outs and didn’t send him. He got to third on a single and didn’t score. It’s the small things, moving runners, defensive alignment and managing pitching staff. The us sucks at that, the fundamentals and strategy has gone since the sabermetrics and stats came in. Since then people don’t understand how baseball can be played but the Japanese still do those things and are meticulous

Hopefully with the sift ban the US will start playing a more exciting brand of baseball. At Least start moving runners etc..
