It’s because a lot of Japanese talk the talk but can’t walk the walk. They act like hard workers because that’s what their culture expects of them but when I worked in an office the Japanese would do less work but refuse to go home first so as to seem like a hard worker and protect their pride.

Strictly speaking, Japanese were woke before that concept even existed. It's all about the image of being a morally superior human not about actually being one. That's basically what Tatemae and Honne is. Only foreigners get fooled by it with the "different culture" argument. Japanese themselve know it's bs and wouldn't get fooled by it.

You don't understand cheating from the male perspective because you are a woman. Women cheat when they fall out of love (usually) or find a better suitor. Men cheat because they are biologically inclined to do so (usually). It's like taking a p*ss to pump a dumb for men. By cheating they do not express nothing other than the desire to get off and procreate. They will probably still love their girl as much as before they committed adultery. Now, the question is if it is wrong. Well that's for each one of us to decide since religion is no longer what drives and keeps our societies working.

It's one of the things that shocked me the most living in Japan. Most people (who are sexually active, which is not everyone) had already cheated or been cheated on and they were normalizing it like crazyyyyyy. The thing I also noticed is like, as we can sense in the video, there is still a huge gap in stigma between women cheating and men cheating. Even celebrities. Some celebrities after a while, are invited back to TV shows so they can laugh about the scandal and everyone says "well he's popular with women, shouganai haha" but when a female celebrity cheats, it leaves deeper scars for her reputation as a "good wife/woman", that's why Japanese girls have a harder time admitting to their cheating because they know how much harsher they will be judged. Something else I noticed when I tried to understand WHY culturally people are cheating so much is also because a lot of young Japanese girls have a hard time saying "no" and I am dead serious. The men are very pushy and manipulative and take advantage of drunk girls (drinking culture not helping), I've seen it first hand many times. Japanese men also have a way with words and promise things they don't mean so some girls accept the cheating in hope of finding better love but are almost always left disappointed. Of course, it's not an excuse to cheat in a commited relationship at all! I just saw a little deeper the roots of such light cheating and was shook.

The name suits you well. But that's besides the point. Male nature isn't specifically to cheat but to procreate as much as possible. And we definitely haven't outgrown our biology. How do you ask? Porn is a perfect example. It showcases what guys would do if they had access to these many women. There are guys that bust to 10 different women a day. The social restrictions of religious marriage were the only thing that somewhat kept people in check (especially women) but that's far gone now. I was so shocked but he didn't seem to see the problem, je was laughing about it a lot, that just disgusted me a lot, so unbelieable to tell things like that in Europe and joking on it. I am genuinely confused as to why so many men say that they “can’t resist” sexual urges because it’s “part of their nature” and why many think this makes their behaviour somewhat justifiable. How come the vast majority of men have these kind of instincts but (most) women don’t? For example, I have heard men who chikan on the trains etc. say that they “can’t resist if she’s pretty” as if it’s some inherent instinct, but I really don’t get how this is supposed to be a proper excuse… Why don’t most women act like this towards handsome men? How is it any better that men act as if they’re wild animals with no sense of self control? And why are they “unable” when there are normal men out there?

Yeah, I hate hearing this excuse. And that’s exactly what it is - an excuse. From personal observation (7 years living here, talking to a ton of people across a wide variety of age ranges in-depth about life, love etc): 75% of Japanese people don't know how to: a.) Love, b.) be loved. Isn't evident from this video? These strutting young men, talking about relationships, love & cheating as casually as you would talk about the weather. Not realizing the immense psychological, emotional and spiritual damage they cause both themselves & their partners. The pressures of society, the obsession about how one presents themselves, the strict and narrow path that most Japanese people have to walk in life, the lack of space & time to get to know oneself properly, they all result in: People getting married before they're ready. Having 0 time to reflect on their true nature, or on that of life. Having children because it's the "thing to do". Not loving their partner, cheating etc while also hating their job and life situation (but continuing anyway because they've achieved some level of success in society's eyes), not loving the child properly, the child grows up with a hollow hole in it's heart. The cycle continues. Despite all that, some of the most loving and open-hearted people I've met have been Japanese. They've all been "non-typical". They spent time reflecting on their own adventure in life, and integrated the lesson they learned, perhaps they lived abroad or simply had the courage to do things their own way. In doing so, they became far more whole and well-rounded.

I have to rebut you on a couple of points. Early marriage is by far the best way to go about it. Especially marrying your first sexual partner. By statistics alone these relationships tend to be the happiest and the longest. Besides I know for a fact that marriages of older generations were far stronger and happier and loving than today's marriages. "Taking your time" isn't a good answer to this. What is a good answer though is growing up with values and a mindset of "the woman/man that I will first bed and marry will be the one I'll live with forever , so I got to choose wisely and I got to do everything to make it work". There's no such thing as "having kids for having kids". Kids and marriage are by far the best predictor of longterm happiness especially amongst women. As for "Japanese not knowing how to love" . I have one thing to say. Most people today in the first world don't know how to love. Love is something that you build upon, not something that happens nor just a simple feeling. If you are not determined to love someone then you do not know how to love. Something our grandparents had understood yet somehow this wisdom was lost by the decades of heavy societal change. The boys that boast about their cheating are a product of a valueless and directionless society. Where everything goes, whatever you feel is reality and you should act the way you feel and only do what makes you happy. No responsibility, no duty, no values just raw nature. And sadly or not, naturally men are polygynous and are inclined to procreate with as many women as possible. Without the societal boundaries this is the men you create.

Instead for them, whether you are a man or woman, cheating is seen as normal in their everyday lives as if it really is morally okay.

This is probably just my opinion, but the reason why we get upset and hurt about cheating is not just the act, but that they lied to you. They broke the trust. So If you brought it up in the beginning before dating, saying that you can't stay with just one girl/guy for whatever reason, then no one would be super pissed/hurt because they already had a heads up. (the other person can 'cheat' too lol). Of course you will have less candidates for dating, especially if they are looking for serious monogamous relationships, but at least trauma and stuff may not be severe. Even if you want some thrilling adventures, tell them in advanced too or throw yourself over a tall building, maybe that'll help too.

I am not even surprised. Cheating about in Japan is very normalized and that is why I tell people who have any Japanese man fetish to just cut it out before they even try. Seeing them spoke so openly about it is even more sadder. The reason why it's normal is because the cheated on party will feel like they are to blame for it bc they think there is something wrong with them. It's very hard for them to practice self love.

I'm not surrounded by girls or boys who cheat. I don't even have to ask the people in this video to know that they cheat by the looks of it. As the saying goes, 'like attracts like.' People with bad brains attract friends with bad brains. Japanese people can understand that they are stupid people just by looking at their mood and the way they talk. They are not the norm for Japanese people 💔. I don't like such dim-witted people, so naturally I didn't get involved with them. They are so dumb that they can talk about these insane original theories and logic as if it is natural. Of course I have lived and seen people who seem to be as dumb as the ones in this video, but I don't think there were many of them when considered as a percentage! And there will always be such dim-witted people in your country. (I have seen many such people in other countries, and I have seen many such people in other countries. Of course, I understand that it is normal to dare to choose only such crazy people when making a video in order to create a buzz, so I would not make the mistake of thinking that all people in that country are like that.) Do you think that just looking at these interviewees is all Japanese people? I am also surprised at the fact that there are people who talk about cheating as if it is such a normal thing to do. I am surprised to know that there are people who seem to be so stupid that they act with such a pet theory. This is because I have never felt that this is the norm in my life in Japan. Of course, there may be people who have many opportunities to interact only with such people, but I never talk to them in the first place because I can immediately tell just by looking at such dim-witted people that conversation is not going to happen. Normal people know that they can't have a conversation with people who are stupid, so they naturally avoid them. This is not a bad thing, but because I find it impossible to have a conversation with people who are not right in the head. I don't want to get involved with people I know are not sane, and in fact, I feel I was not wrong when I saw them talking about crazy things like in this video, as if they were normal. The interviewer seems to be targeting only those who would dare to cheat on their partners. Because they don't show a single person who looks serious. I use a translation tool.

Honestly at this point that’s just so sad. Cheating should not be normalized and people should start thinking about how their actions could cause consequences in the future. Personally I think that’s just so wrong and disgusting in many ways. How could people be proud that they cheat? Honestly I think if a person cheats, they should feel ashamed because that’s literally betrayal in so different ways. Also causing problems for other people such as the lover themselves and also giving a bad image to the society and country itself. Cheating is just so gross and disgusting. And people honestly should start considering what they can do to put a stop to this act. Cheaters should rot in hell basically. And cheating is wrong for all people not only for males or females or what’s in between.

Living in rural Japan and noticed that. Japan doesn't have a lack of sexual activity. I think it's the opposite, everyone is getting it on and it's so encouraged here. I guess it's no different from American Universities, but I notice my club culture is very much about sleeping around. There's a lot of pressure when you see your friends do it and you wanna have some fun, yet everyone still basically lives with their parents and feel pressured to quickly get into relationships. The result is people forming boyfriend - girlfriend with others because of initial desire, then realising they want to experience more fun and going off with multiple people instead But then again I heard the west is the same yet doesn't have this problem - Maybe because they're more clear on the friends with benefits thing and don't hide it under an actual relationship I feel the same honestly, I keep going on dates and feel it just doesn't work out, and I stop pursuing it. Most are more serious and do want to date, but I only really want to do it if I feel compatible. My friends will tell me to just make a girlfriend and then continue dating so you can experience both and find out what you want. Aka sleep around while having a gf lol

A word to describe these people: insecure. Taking cheating this easily suggests that an aspect of them is extremely insecure--they would not trust anybody of not cheating. It would eventually show up in a form of testing and manipulation... by setting up an extremely low borderline for cheating. They would catch their partner casually hugging somebody for greeting as cheating, give a constant discomfort/threat whenever that "casual cheating" takes place, compel the partner to hide his/her personal life, and there it is----his/her action is now "legit cheating"; therefore they can confirm "all humans are dirty" and so their actions are legitimate.

I think the problem here is, when the other s/o finds out they got cheated on, instead of having normal standard and going “you cheated on me? Once is more than enough, we’re over.” And dumping the cheater, they instead go “what did I do wrong?” Not blaming the cheater or seeing the cheater in the wrong whatsoever, and as we saw in the video here, they often forgive as well.

This video was so interesting. You could tell it was thought provoking for the audience as well, they seem more intrigued than past interview questions. I hope you do similar interviews like this in the future. (About morality and meaning of life etc) They’re awesome!
