Yup. As a musician, I've been on ALL sides of this...I've given people tickets, I've had people refuse to come to my performances, I've had people pay to come see me, I've been given tickets to see my friends/colleagues perform and I've purchased tickets to see them and support them. Idk...just not going isn't really what feels the best. I'd rather have someone ask me for tickets and have to tell them no than to have them just...never show up at all.

Well, there was definitely miscommunication, not possibly. If you don't express your needs/wants to others in some way, you not only can't justify blaming them when things don't go the way you hoped but you also definitely miss out on things. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Use your voice. Worst Selena could have said was no, which would hurt, but not more than assuming she didn't really want you there.

I keep telling them to “just ask, the worst they can say is no” and then we walk through what happens if they say “no”. You’ll be a little sad but then you’ll know and you won’t love with regret. Selena has spoken on similar situations (and on Wizards) and based on this podcast and Selena's words, she was definitely struggling and regrets not reaching out more. It's difficult when you're going through scary things, doing whatever you can to avoid dealing with it and you've got friends trying to help you but you're just not ready. Yeah, it sucks, but it doesn't make anyone in this situation selfish or rude. Wow.

I think people are misunderstanding what they're talking about. I'm pretty sure they know they are capable of just buying tickets and going to the show themselves. Its about the fact that they were close to selena. If you feel like you're close to someone, I'm sure there will always be a part of you that expects the other person to invite you to their shows, bc you may see other friends of them attending and are like why did she invite them and not us. I have a friend who's starting to get gigs as a singer songwriter where I live. We hanged out a lot last year but i have the feeling the last time we saw each other it didn't really feel like he enjoyed spending time with me. I invited him to a party and last minute he told me he had rehearsal. I receive his newsletter about his concerts, but he didn't write me personally that he'd care to see me so i am not going anymore(i had been to 2 already). At this point the ball is on his court, and the more time passes the more I doubt there is still a friendship there. Any of us could do a move, but i think it's fair to want to see proactivity from the other side, a real friendship is not a one-way ..

The issue is everyone wants to be invited and to feel like someone else is making an effort to include them in their life, but if we all waited to be invited first then we would never go anywhere. Often, YOU have to be the first person to make that effort for someone else. Then see if they are willing/able to reciprocate it. It feels like in this episode and the episode with Selena, Jennifer & David were waiting for Selena to invite them in and Selena didn't know how to invite them in because of the depression she was going through and being out-of-touch for so long. That's why buying the tickets and reaching out is another viable solution because how is she supposed to know they want to support her if they never show up for her or say "we want to support you"? they want to be invited, but don't want to have to ask to be invited. Selena may want to invite them, but she doesn't want to ask for their time/attention/support. You should never blame someone else for not starting the very conversation that you are unwilling to start. Be the person who starts the conversation.

She has meet and greets with fans and has a schedule. If they want to go to her concert, I’m sure their intention would be to spend time with her and I’m sure that’s what Selena would want as well…that they not just show up and that they could actually sit and talk. Everyone saying they could have bought the ticket and sent a text message that they are there as if she ain’t a global star…like I doubt reading and responding to texts right before a concert would be her first priority. But for me, If I want to support a friend, I wont wait for them to come to me, instead I would come to them and voice out my intent. I hate people who beats around the bushes. I like someone? I go and tell them, not wait for some miracle to happen or for them to say something about it and waste valuable time. It gets straight to the point. It creates lesser/no misunderstandings. Why would you want to buy a ticket to a friend’s concert (and we’re talking about an international musician here not some local musician with a super busy schedule) and then be a nuisance to her when she’s at work? Jennifer even says that the concert is Selena’s day at the office, and if they want to spend time with her they can’t when she’s busy. The whole purpose is to spend time and to let her know they are there, but if she’s super busy how would she even know they are there? Also, she may end up feeling bad that they came and she wasn’t able to spend time with them.

They most definitely are hurt and love her. But I mean I get why she might never ask. Despite them being close at one point when they were in Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena had a horrible experience w Disney and probably wanted to forget that time. They so badly want to be in her life, but maybe she doesn’t want that.

You know you can just buy tickets right? 😂 if my friend had a concert I would buy a ticket- because that’s how I would show my support. A lot goes into big productions and it is just a wonderful thing to do to support all the stage hands, venue, lighting and sound techs. Be the friend that cheers! Be the friend that lights up their face on stage when they spot you in the crowd. 😊

pretty sure she's richer than them. It's not really about ticket prices anyways, it's not like they said they wanted FREE tickets. And unless Sel was going to have them close in the show, with how big concerts are, she was not going to see them in the crowd LOL.

I can see it from both points of view honestly. They didn't want to ask her because they didn't want her to feel like they were using her for tickets, and on the other hand she wouldn't want to ask them because she doesn't want to be like ‘Hey, come to my show and watch me perform because I'm amazing,’ etc. Yeah they could have bought tickets, but tickets for big shows are honestly really hard to get hold of. I've tried to get tickets for big bands/comedians in the past, they sell out in literally seconds.
