Jtoh would've been a much bigger game if the devs made an official yt channel back in the ktoh days with genuine effort put into it bc it would make it easier to attract a fanbase and easier to advertise the game

As an owner of one of the biggest JToH fangames today, I have a few thoughts about this. I feel like the reason why JToH fangames (specifically the ones that follow the same game design that JToH does) is because the idea of the game is inherently doomed to fail - Not only are such games extremely niche and unappealing to most users due to it difficulty, they often expect people to already know the core mechanics of the game from JToH which means that most of the people who join JToH fangames will leave due to the confusing nature of the game. While that may not seem like such a big deal, the massive loss of potential is shown by just looking at all the games with a single tower in them that get tens, if not even hundreds of millions of visits. I don't think there's really anything particularly interesting for the future of JToH fangames, their player counts have more or less been the same and probably will be for quite a long time. tldr jtoh fangames are not appealing to average roblox players at all and will remain a niche game that a small playerbase will continue to play

i wouldnt say jtoh fangames are "dead" its more-so that people played fangames in order to fill the gaps in difficulties that jtoh had most of which were in the sc difficulty, and jtohs been filling those gaps instead this would explain why cscd is the most active jtoh fangame, and why in general they arent super active anymore also, about the "decline of jtoh" jtoh never had a decline, its just the pandemic happening which had more people playing roblox obbies, eventually finding jtoh, once these people had stuff like school they stopped playing jtoh because they were busy, simple as that

one thing that is really good about fangames that you can find some sc's in them that can approve ur skill or be ur first sc. So if you dont like most of insane towers in jtoh (like me) then fangames REALLY help for first sc

hell you can even do the same with tiered obbies in some occasions. when i wanted a high insane tower before tobk to do but couldnt find one i instead just beat a tier 12 and after that i managed to beat my first extreme

fangames literally 99% of the time are just places where failed builders dump their towers. they can't get their towers accepted by jtoh so they go and make their own games

Me and a friend group are trying very hard to create a modern quality only jtoh when everyone has like ring 3 quality gp while mine is currently Zone 5-8 but I make gp at like turtle speed, same speed as Jukereise.
