There was a group of parents (mostly mother, I believe) who made it public that because of the police devoting so much time and so many people to this "hate crime," the cases of their murdered sons were pushed off to the side and the investigations were essentially put on hold because this took priority. I understand that if it were a real hate crime, that would be something deserving of these kind of resources. If it were a real hate crime, the people who targeted the first victim could easily go after more victims who met a certain criteria for the attackers. It would be a danger to anyone who fit that "criteria" until they found the people responsible for the attack, so it would absolutely make sense that the police would want to find these "attackers" as soon as possible when getting a report of such a hate crime. However, this hurt SO many people. These parents, for example, already lost their child. They will never get that child back and all they want is justice for their child and this self-centered, self-important jerk took that justice away and victimized the families even farther. This hurt so many people in so many ways. This isn't even to mention victims of ACTUAL hate crimes, like the many that actually happened just that week (I think there were multiple trans black women who were targeted, among other people victimized) because this is not only an absolute insult to them, but it makes people believe their TRUE story less. He is a disgusting human being and he should have been fired and faced criminal charges. I really hope the parents who lost their kids sue jussie and win.
