Although Mariah Carey has won 5 Grammys, she and Katy Perry share the same problem. Both have had albums that not only defined the year they were released but also the decade and even the century, and will surely continue to resonate far beyond that. Having 5 number 1 singles on the "Teenage Dream" album and 0 Grammys is a travesty, just as it is for Mariah's "Daydream," which had 3, and "Butterfly," with 2 number one singles. Mariah and Katy have competed against some of the biggest names and faced the toughest competition in all categories (for Mariah, that included Celine Dion, Madonna, Whitney, Janet... and for Katy, Lady Gaga, Adele, Rihanna, Taylor...). I hope KP6 will give Katy at least 1 Grammy, because she deserves so much more and she is so underrated

in my opinion the reason lies in the fact that Katy Perry has had to clash several times with great songs (for example Halo or Say Something) and great singers like Adele or Beyoncè or Lady Gaga, and has always come out defeated. I agree, however, that she deserved at least to win in 2011 for Teenage Dream which, like it or not, marked an era by reaching the record held by the King of Pop Michael Jackson. It could not and should not be ignored

It’s bad timing. Yes she released good pop albums but so does the other nominees. I think she got a better chance this decade since Grammys are nominating more pop projects now as compared to past decade.

1989 was more successfull as an album and critically acclaimed. Teenage Dream had more monster hits but the non singles were deemed as filler.

I love Katy Perry her songs dark horse, last Friday night,et,roar,part of me, teenage dream and more I am her biggest fan but don't discredit Billie just blame Adele and Beyonce instead these two are the most overrated like when I first hard rolling in the deep I thought it was a weird song until listened like 20x but when I first heard fireworks I immediately became a Katy fan

Because she was always too lolly-poppy and unserious. Grammy Awards are for serious artists and she isn't- she should feel blessed for getting so many Grammy nominations, cause that's already a big achievement. Not that Grammy still means anything- they nominate all the time Bieber for the biggest crap he'd release- his album Changes getting a Grammy nom was a joke. Rihanna receiving 9 Grammys is a joke. They didn't nominate The Weeknd in 2021 despite his acclaimed and artistic album only because he refused to appear on the ceremony cause he had to perform at Superbowl- this is, like, the biggest indicator of how low Grammy fell in authencity. Honestly, Jennifer Lopez deserved this Grammy for Waiting For Tonight and Let's Get Loud. I can't think of Katy Perry winning any Grammy, cause there were always better nominated songs or artists than her.

well but in 2017 she released Chained to the Rhythm and Bon Appetit which had more important themes than adolescent ones and in general Witness was more serious and refined than previous albums. Result? The album flopped badly and Katy was abandoned by the general public. So I wonder what you really want her to do

@@giuseppesenatore6053 she talked about serious topic on Witness, personally I don't think it flopped like most of the people say- all of the three main singles got like + 500 million views on KZbin, Bon Apetit I think got even 1 billion views, Witness was a #1 hit on Billboard 200 and during that time Katy Perry had another hit going on with Calvin Harris named "Feels". It really wasn't a flop, the success of Teenage Dream could never be repeated cause its was monstrous. Anyway, I get you with this one but she made a whole circus from that era with her Illuminati album cover and her strange music videos to all the singles. Katy Perry isn't the artist you could ever take seriously. She's trying at times to talk serious things but her whole persona and style ruin it. Not that I think that artists like Rihanna or Justin Bieber are much better, but they are less cringe for sure.

@@aziatix1168 among other things, one of the causes of Witness's flop was the haircut she had, just like Miley Cyrus wore it a few years earlier. For this choice she was unfortunately widely criticized (and for me it is ridiculous because an aesthetic choice cannot prevail over music). However, I think we all agree that her next album represents the last chance to at least get back into the top 15 and achieve some success. Otherwise I believe, unfortunately, that it will be the end of her career at a high level, a bit like it was for Christina Aguilera, who has been irrelevant from a charts point of view for over a decade (and she didn't even deserve it).
