But when everybody compliments you right to your face it puts you under tremendous pressure, even more so if you are very introverted to begin with. I think only narcissistic people could handle and take pleasure in this avalanch of compliments. One of my friends is just like Keanu reeves. He is sweet, kind, caring and very introverted. I can tell anyone that he is the best person I ever met in my life but I very rarely say it in his presence because I know it makes him uncomfortable. He will dodge every compliments and try to redirect it to someone else or change the topic. He might seem to have a weak personality and be easy to bully but that would be a mistake to think so. I have known him for nearly 20 years and I only saw him loose his cool once. It happened when he saw a guy beating a girl in the street (a couple argument that degenerated) . He ended up beating three guys that night(the girl's boyfriend and two of his friends) and two of them looked way bulkier and tougher than him. He is not one to show off so most of the time I forget that he is into karate and judo 😅. Since then I know what "Demons run when a good man goes to war" means. Be weary around nice people, they go full crazy when you push them too far and too hard.

Saying we shouldn't value his hardships was a bit harsh. I'll be the first to say anything about it. Anyone going through hardships and overcoming them will have value to the right people, and that's all that matters. Stuff like that should be celebrated. I was in a rough spot so I probably just felt annoyed that people say things like "you haven't even come close to suffering like ___.", When they have no idea. I think if I was to refine this, I'd say we shouldn't place higher value in someone overcoming hardship because they're famous. They'll obviously get more attention, but ideally people don't glamorize stuff like that and put a level of importance on said experiences.

@@TheodoreBrosevelt No i understood the joke quite clearly, though its just giving way to the same behavior that this video clearly tried to show what was wrong with the whole supporting Keanu, the entire point was to show that the more this man takes action to distance himself from fame, and "being the internet boyfriend" the more he succeeds in perpetuating the same underlying malignant behavior. So no, i understood the joke, i just thought it rather kafkaesque.

I like Keanu because we share a love of music and motorcycles. If I met him, all I'd want to talk about is bikes and basses. Case in point: I met R. Lee Ermey a few years before he passed away. Completely accidental meeting. I was at my favorite gun shop looking at some shotguns. It was just past closing time. They let me stay because I know them and I was spending a good bit of money with them. A familiar voice from my left says "No matter what town I'm in, I ALWAYS stop to look a double-barreled shotguns." Without thinking, I replied "I've always loved side-by-sides." Then, it hit me. I looked up and left, and there he was. Gunny himself. He looked jetlagged (learned later that he was. Just flew in from CA). He was there with a Glock rep and Clifton Collins Jr. We shook hands. I told him it was nice to meet him, and we continued talking about guns. I didn't ask for an autograph or a selfie. We just discussed our common interest. It was a good conversation. Then, I wished him a good stay in Atlanta and I went home to eat supper. He was one of the coolest people I've met. My friends told me I should have gotten his autograph. A meaningful conversation with him still means more to me than fanboying over him would ever have.
