Make a point of visiting Thika town - the Industrial satellite town of Nairobi City. Things to experience include a tour of Thika Greens Golf Estate, Thika and Chania Falls within Blue Post Hotel, The Fourteen Falls, and Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park. Part of the town used to be a farm owned by William Northrup McMillan an American, who settled in Kenya. He was friends with President Theodore Roosevelt who visited the farm I believe twice. In his maiden visit, President Roosevelt stole two statues of a lion from Khoja Mosque in Nairobi. The government started looking for the statue, but when McMillan realized that his guest had stolen it and what it meant for the US, they decided to bury the statues. Farm workers came across them and thought they were West African gods, Ju and Ja. The farm became known as Juja Farm. McMillan is buried on Kilimambogo - Ol Donyo Sabuk. However, easily the most beautiful place you can visit in Kenya is Fairmont Mt. Kenya Safari Club, Nanyuki - place that at some point was a hideout for the leaders of a Chicago-based underworld, the Mob, in the 1970s. I hope you enjoy your stay in Kenya.

"Mambo" is not a proper Swahili greetings. It is a slang from the word, 'things' which is a shortened greetings from, "how are things". A formal Swahili greetings for everybody is, 'Habari' or 'Habari yako' (yako means, you/your/yours). Habari is, how are you.

@@korirvtl "Jambo" is a proper Swahili greetings but rarely used by locals. Unfortunately, "Jambo" is mostly used by tourists though it is good Swahili greetings. When you want to teach a foreigner a language you teach them the real word and if you must use some slang, let them know it is a slang. That way they will understand the language better.

The lady just lied. KiSWAHILI is not a creole between Arab and Bantu languages. It's a lazy thinking that has been inculcated by racists and so disappointing to hear a government employee parrot it away. Kiswahili or KINGOZI in its original name is an old Bantu language just like any other. Every other language borrows words here and there. If it is just a mix, why is it so similar to many other Bantu languages in Southern Africa that had no contact with foreigners until early 20th century? Shame on her for perpetuating lies.
