More than any discussion about number of assists or goals, I think by far the most overlooked and underrated part of his game is the ball retention under pressure. People really don't understand just how important it is to have that reliable outball to the wings, or just someone to slow down the game a bit. This is 100% of the reason why Pep loves Grealish so much, and also a reason why United have struggled so far. They just don't have anyone who can get the ball under pressure, turn from their man and then either lay it off for a quick pass or take them on. There's every chance we lose the type of control we've had in games this season if we play 2 pacey wingers like Johnson.

I think he's been great, a brilliant outlet who is strong and keeps the ball under pressure also very good defensively which is why Porro is looking so good.

The thing people forget about Kulu and his stats this season is that his strength is getting crosses in. Last season he had Kane. Very different with Sonny as striker.

There’s been a number of times kulusevski has slipped a striker in on goal and the chance was fluffed. Think he’s had a really strong start to the season and of course we always want more but in this case the stats don’t lie, his ball carrying through midfield has been very very good. And he’s created a really good cohesion on the right with Porro and Sarr

Kulu in his 1st season at Spurs had the 3rd most goal contributions IN THE EPL after Son and Kane. He kinda let himself down the following season. He looks to be picking up again this season.

Kulusevski is a very good player, sure he’s not got the most pace but he runs constantly and everywhere. He never stops running and I think he covers the most ground per match of all our players. Where he needs to improve is playing more on his right foot. During the Liverpool game he made several runs and cut inside every single time, defenders had an easy time with him. He needs to be less obvious with his game. Otherwise I think he fits in well with the overall team tactics

Kulu’s main problem is he’s not flashy or sexy so his work and productivity go undervalued - his assists/shot creating chances on the right haven’t been going so much to Sonny but to Richarlison who hasn’t had that finishing quality.

Not by me kulusevski is a intelligent player who covers a huge amount of yardage once he starts scoring few more he’s going to be just fine he’s a important cog in the wheel

Kulu is a very good technical players especially being on the wing side. But he lacks pace to take on a man but as long as he contributes to the team it’s fine. IMO I prefer traditional wingers such as saka who are very fast wingers not being afraid to take on a man.

I think Kulusevski is great and I think one reason he’s a bit frustrating at times and can’t get much than a corner at best is because he gets very little help sometimes. I often think he looks very isolated and even if his dribbling is good and he’s intelligent, he will lose the ball against 3 opposition players. If he can get a corner/a foul from that, it’s not even bad. Personally, I think he is more suited to playing more centrally than being a winger but I really don’t subscribe to him being bad. Unfortunately, he even seems to be a bit of a scapegoat on Twitter (never gonna call it X), I think that’s partly because as an attacker you will always be judged on G/A output and some people will only look at that and not appreciate all the good stuff he apart from that. Not saying he’s perfect atm and I also think his shooting has been off lately but I have many times thought to myself: “That would have been a splendid assist had ___ finished that chance!” So I’m not disappointed at all with his season, even though I think he can reach a higher level. We also forget that he’s still only 23 and might hit his prime when he’s 28, that’s in 5 years!

Ben! why so grumpy??😂 I think kulu is putting in the work every game. Being a constant nuisance. And if we're gonna compare with the last season there's not that many players in the squad who gets any applause. I think players who are less flashy often get the wrong end of the stick. And in kulusevskis case the straight up awesome stats seem to not matter as much for some reason?? He seems like a pain in the a** for most defences. COYS!!!

Kulusevski gets disposed a lot because him and Porro are still developing chemistry for their under and overlaps. Kulusevski wants to cut in and when he does that and gets stuck Porro is suppose to be his outlet.

Kulu.. holds the ball well, is reasonably good technically and is physically strong BUT he lacks the pace and acceleration of a top class winger - Saka, Rashford and some others. Good but Spurs can do better.

not even a spurs player, but most of koreans like me have patience running out with kulu...he's a terrific player, but with his seemingly awful right foot, you know he will not beat someone on the wing pace for pace, and most of the time he gets the ball on the corner of the penalty box, we expect him to cross, then he just plays the ball back to the centre back..i saw this happen too many times vs liverpool...and he has this awful tendency to slow the game down when in fact spurs need to continue counter attack...so, although he's good, at times he really does our heads in...

Kulu is too slow for the right wing. This was very evident against Liverpool’s 9 men when instead of taking his man on and getting past him to get a dross in he kept turning back inside and recycling the ball to the centre which was ineffective. I agree with Ben that he’d actually be more suited to a central role where pace is not as important and his excellent ability to hold the ball up would be more useful. We need another speedy winger like Brennan Johnson, one on each wing to terrorise defences.

If you gave me an option of Sane, Kubo or Olise over Kulu I would take it 100%. I think technical wise Kulu is unreal but he lacks on pace, beating a man and his g/a stinks. Would I sell Kulu? No never.

He is front 3 for Spurs, right? How many goals did he score last season? A paltry 2. Now to win the Premier League you can't have a front 3 player who only scores 2 goals a season. Sure he may improve on that with Ange but give me Johnson with pace over Kulu every time. Kulu just behind the front 3 maybe a brilliant idea but if Johnson is limited due to Kulu it will cost us dearly.

Doesn’t matter how much you carry the ball if you lose it at the end and just feed it back into the opposition again at the end of it. Kulu won’t be first choice next season. Ange has bigger plans.

I think he does a very good job for us now and he’ll do a great job coming seasons as a rotation player. He’s phenomenal attitude and work ethic are great attributes in a squad.

Kulu’sproblem is he only has two moves. Run down the wing and cut back. So he’s predictable and everyone knows what he’s going to do. When was the last time you saw him have a left foot curling shot. The worst thing about him and the position he plays is his lack of real pace. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good player, but like so many others in our team… Hoeburgh, Dyer, Winks, Skipp etc He’s better than all of them, he’s just not good enough to take us to a title or cup. He won’t be first choice in a season’s time. Watch and see. He’s ok but he hasn’t got enough.

I rate him for his work rate but since his first half season at Spurs, he has lost how to play in the final third and just so predictable. I think Ange will use B Johnson and Kulu in that role because they have different strengths. I do think as a team, Kulu still need to improve on his decision making in the final third and score goals (at least 7-10 per season) as well.

@@georgekardaras3911 I agree with the first part, we could improve on that wing by adding a specialist winger. I see Kulu as a Swiss Army knife, a lot of good tools but not as good as a single specialized tool. He would be a fantastic asset as a work horse, rotational squad player that could be used on the wing, as an 8 or a 10 or even as a striker when need to rest players or because of injuries. And btw, he put in a fantastic cross by cutting in and served Richie on a plate v Luton, not Kulus fault Richie didn’t put it away. Kulusevski is doing very well at the moment and is very important for the team at this point in the new project.
