Pros and cons for low height restrictions on thrill rides: Pros: -open to young, brave children who are already ready to ride. -fewer Karens trying to get their (too short to ride) kids on for operators to worry about Cons: Invites more parents to force kids who may not be ready to ride I'm not a parent myself, but I am 99.99998452% certain that forcing children to ride a thrill the biggest mistake a parent can make when trying to get their children into thrill rides. From what I heard (from GP to enthusiast I believe) Cedar Point ride operators won't let parents decide if their child rides a ride (if the child is nervous about it) and it is entirely the decision of the child if they actually ride or not. So the forcing children to ride crap shouldn't be likely to happen at CP.

Great to see my home park get some love! I worked there as an operator for 2 years. I mostly worked the flat rides, but also operated the Bat, Roller Coaster, Wicked, and Bombora. Bombora does have 2 trains, but they bring the second one out when the line gets too long; guess they didn't on your trips. The Bat only has 1 train, period, so that's always been a capacity nightmare. Cannibal wasn't built when I was working there, but when it first opened, the lines for it stretched back as far as the North Sky Ride entrance. Nowadays, operation and capacity on Cannibal is great and one of the fastest I've ever seen. In regards to your assigned seating concern with the park, you can ask the attendants that you prefer a specific seat and most of the time they'll let someone behind you go instead just so you can get the seat you want. Not every attendant does that, but I made sure to do that when I worked there at least. Colossus used to have assigned seating when I worked there, but they don't anymore. The Bat didn't have assigned seating when I operated it. For the hand stamps, you can request a re-stamp at either the front entrance or at the water park entrance. Lagoon is one of the best parks for a young, aspiring coaster enthusiast, only problem in that regard being the distance from other parks. Glad to hear you and Sophie had a great time in town and glad she had a lot of fun with it! But yes, Lagoon definitely needs a new big thrill ride and before Roller Coaster got its new trains, I suggested the idea of them giving it the RMC treatment, since it was a massively bumpy ride for a long time. But if they're keeping Roller Coaster around for the long run, I'd love to see Lagoon get an RMC single rail coaster, like a Raptor model with a Utahraptor theme. Sorry for the essay, I just have a lot of love for this park and thought I'd share some of my experiences to add to your thoughts.
@superamazingproduct3 жыл бұрын
Love it! I went last week, they gave us a wrist band instead of a stamp. Probably because of Covid-19. I don't think the Roller Coaster will get the RMC treatment, they seem pretty set on maintaining the historic nature of the ride. I'd love to see a new RMC coaster at Lagoon at any point!

Just so you are aware, you can request a wrist band instead of getting the hand stamp, they will send you to a guest services area to get it just inside the gates but it is an option. I worked at lagoon for a few years in the rides department and was a supervisor on the south end of the park the year spider opened. The ticket system seams to no longer be in use however when I was working there you could buy an entry pass and just get enough tickets for the rides you wanted to go on, this worked great for my grandparents who would only go for the shows and a few select rides with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Love Lagoon! Amazing family owned park. Something people also might take for granted that is worth an awesome mention is that Lagoon let's you take your own food cooler into the park. Yes, you can bring outside food and meals into the park! This food can be left all day at one of the many many covered pavilions that are all open to guests. I can't think of many parks that do this. Totally worth it's praise! Something else people don't always know is that Lagoon's animals (you can take the animal train that circuits around the 'lagoon' just west of Turn of the Century (swing ride)) are all rescue animals. Many would be put down if it weren't for Lagoon taking them in. I gotta agree with you on Lagoon needing a few more thrill rides. Flats, and definitely a few more coasters on the level of Cannibal. Speaking of Cannibal. Amazing coaster! what blew me away is Lagoon is the one who built and contracted out building Cannibal in-house. How many parks do that and come away as successful and amazing as Cannibal is. Bombora is also an in-house, as will be Primordial. Great vid!

Lagoon is scheduled to be our first park after quarantine - haven't been there since 2003 when Spider first opened, so a lot has changed since then! Our daughter is 5 but typically takes a lot of convincing to get one ride on the kiddie coasters, so it would probably be hard to get her on even some of the family coasters, much less Wicked! Sophie is very brave!

I almost completely agree to what you have said about Lagoon. It was the last park on our US coaster road trip last year, and we were there in early June, so not too long before you got there. BUT... there is one thing about the park that upset me when we were there and it still upsets me thinking about it - the "no single rider" policy on their Jet Star 2. Sure, if you are there with your daughter that's no deal at all. But I was there with my coaster buddy, and we have been on enough bobsled coasters and log flumes to be able to handle the "lap seating". It's awkward, but okay. But thanks to the laws of geometry it is simply impossible to fit two guys who both are way beyond 6' tall together in one of those seats. We aren't those Russian dolls that you can stack inside of each other. Add to this a ride operator who spoke next to no English. Yes we are from Germany and English isn't our primary language. But for both of us English is the language we speak at work most of the time, so we're pretty good at it, as you can likely tell when you read this comment. That ride operator did not understand the problem at all, even when other guests chimed in. "You - two - go there" was all he was able to say.

I flew all the way from Northern California to go here. Fun fact, actually: 10 days before my day at Lagoon, I got a wound oh my shin from a stationary bike of all things (ik, I’m an idiot). And so I had to get stitches, so in the morning before my day at lagoon, I went to a local SLC hospital to get the stitches removed. After then, I went back to the hotel to get our stuff, and head to the park. I thought it was absolutely a beautiful place. I rode Canabal and of course it was my favorite. It was a good day, but I was done by around 3 or 4 pm. I think the park is okay, but what made it worth it was Canabal. Btw, my home park is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

I think its a universal thing that family coasters have longer lines because their audience is naturally larger but also maybe their capacity is consistently less. I've found that Verbolten at BGW, the family launched coaster at my home park, always has the longest line. That or InvadR, the family GCI hybrid. The other roller coasters are mostly intense capacity monsters (3 b&m's and a 28 seat classic arrow looper and the skyloop).

7:58 My first launch coaster was Maxx Force so I can safely say I started off big. I get that it disappointed you but let’s just admit that it’s quite insane for a first launch.
