I cried so much in the "Mujhe kyun mara?" scene. Poor guy. A shame that people did not see the beauty of this film in theatres.

Also, in that same scene, when he says, "Main apni Mashuqa se baat kara raha hoon, aur aap apne mashuq se(in sufism god is portrayed as a Groom and worshipers as bride) magar aap ne mujhe kaise dekha. Meaning he was so engrossed in conversing with his mashuqa that he forgot everything around him. People there got distracted even when they are conversing with their mashuq(god).

I absolutely loved this movie. I agree on the point that the relationship build up should have been shown in a stronger way, but in the song ‘Sarphiri’ it is conveyed that Laila is in love & so is Qais. The second half is in itself a journey into the mind & heart of a heartbroken lover, who is tired of waiting and of all the worldly ways. In the scene where the people offering namaz slap him, his instant reaction is,”Muje kyu maara?!”. He demands answers to the way the world works. He is lost in the depth of the beauty of nature and cannot please society any longer even though Laila’a iddat would end in 4 months and she would belong to him. But the pain and suffering of the past 4 years have scarred him in such a way that there is no going back now. Loved every bit of this movie!

Where on one side we debate abt Nepotism but still a mve like Dhadak gets Bumper opening, but a movie with fresh talent doesn't even get a 1cr opening! Beautiful ❣️. I wont describe much about the film because they who can feel love and its sufferings will simply feel each drop of this movie. There were many favourite scenes of mine,i will mention two of them- 1. When Kaiz finally gets the chance to see laila after a long wait of 4 years. The way he gets stunned and feel laila without even turning to her. The way all in a sudden everything stops working in his mind.. 2. When he finally meets laila after that accident happened in Pahalgam. This is my personal favourite scene. Here we can see that the wait is over, because now you have started to live with the person even without her presence. Which we clearly see that he sees her everywhere,in everything. Her absence or presence doesn't make any difference anymore, the oneness has got a different dimension now, where there is no waiting and no ending anymore. So laila says " Wo abb bht aage nikal chuka hai,aur mujhe v abb aage badhna hai".. Its spiritual now,no more worldly love. Thank u..

Avinash Tiwari was so good that not for once I felt that he is acting. The scene where he is ready to leave with Laila and his suitcases are packed- and then she says they cannot leave left me in tears. In an industry like Bollywood- an actor like him is still not even known by people for the talent he has. I understand how frustrating it must feel for people like him to see star kids and dumb influencers getting limelight who don’t even have an iota of his talent

First of all I am really glad that you reviewed this movie! I accidentally came across this movie yesterday and decided to just play it for a casual watch. And what a movie it turned out to be! I was blown but also disappointed on having missed this gem of movie. Then I did a youtube search whether TRP has done a review on this movie and boy I was absolutely right!? I watch most of your reviews (had missed this one though!) but this is the first time I am commenting. The review was spot on when you mentioned about cinematography, music, Avinash's performance, accent/dialect etc. Couldn't agree more on these points. However I didn't agree with your view that the protagonists love was 'rushed upon' and it didn't give time for audience to 'invest' themselves into their love. Then you went on to draw a parallel with Ved in Tamasha. Well every love story is different! I know of people (some were my friends) who were madly in love but they had never spoken to that person! Love stories exist in different forms. Tamasha is no way a benchmark to judge a love story. Understand, that this was Kashmir and people are quite conservative. They are not studying in co-ed schools. So what they showed was quite normal and relatable to many people. Imtiaz Ali is a master in portraying love and portraying love in various forms which appeals to various personalities yet they are realistic. There is love in Tamasha, Love Aaj Kal and also there is a portrayal of love in Laila Majnu. Now its not really fair for you to tell which form is more ideal. And just for the records, I didn't like the movie Tamasha at all. I felt it was the most average film by Imtiaz Ali but i also appreciate that many people loved it. In short, all i want to tell you is please don't have a yard stick to measure the amount of time one invests in a person before you quality that as "love enough". Having said that, I really admire your reviews. They are always almost spot-it. Disagreements are bound to be there but yours have been the most unbiased and realistic reviews from everything else there is in this medium.

I went to watch this movie after watching your video. I must say hands down to Kais and Laila. And yes you said it right . Mr Ali has mastered the way of showing emotion in a very different way. Very sad to see that very few people are willing to watch this movie.. Thanks Jammy for suggesting this ! Take care buddy 😘😘

Watched the movie and exactly agree with your negative point the pair had so little screen time together the ending and emotions really feels to far fetched just wish they have explored there romance a bit more as they were so good together and really put in a commendable performances
