Why Lee Seunggi LOST fans after dating his (now) wife

To give this situation some context, Lee Da In's step father and her mom were primarily investigated for the case. Bc her step father was the director of this company and her mom was one of the major share holders. They both made about a total of 4.5B KRW out of that(don't quote me on this one bc everyone has different nos and mostly they publicised what Lee earned not his wife for she got a clean chit) while many people committed suicide, went through financial difficulties and had their lives ruined altogether. After all that, Lee Da In's mom was given a clean chit bc her stepfather admitted that he used his wife's name, i.e., Lee Da In's mom's name who is a well known actress, saying she is investing in his company so it is stable while it was still facing huge losses. People trusted that and invested in the company even more. Later only her stepfather went to jail for 4 yrs and paid 2 billion fine. All that money that was made out of scamming is still there, the company is still there and they are still earning from it. They mostly dislike Lee Da In for showcasing her wealth through social media despite all that. She, her mom and her sister are still very much connected to the money they earned through scamming is why they keep getting scorned. Also know that it was not the first time her stepfather scammed people, this was his third time. When he did this whole scam he was out on parole. So while idc who Lee Suengi or any other celeb dates, I hope you get why Lee Da In and her family is so badly scorned.

I have a more nuanced opinion. Lee Seunggi is allowed to marry anyone he wants. However, as a public figure his actions will be held to a higher scrutiny than normal people. It's perfectly valid for the fans to be turned off and stop supporting him so long as they don't commit harmful acts. I'm pretty sure international fans are going to be more lenient as always. It's an unfortunate situation but if they truly love each other then I'm sure losing the support of other people won't mean much.

Yeah, I'm really late on this... I think the only problem I have with this whole situation is that there was no apology. My lord they're your parents, step or not, your family. At least acknowledge what happened and do something for the victims of this. Idk like at least send prayers their way. Myself, it's my family and I would at least apologized for them. Honestly, I'm weary about the relationship too. He's the one who is giving up so much and I think they may have gotten engaged when he was particularly vulnerable and she was a source of immense support. It's totally plausible that he's blinded by love. However, no one *actually* knows Da In as a person. They just have the absolute worst image of her based on her family & some pictures from years ago (I think. I have no idea about her instagram nor do I care). Maybe she was immature & tone deaf. Maybe she's changed due to being with him. Maybe she changed just in general. I have faith that _something_ about her must've clicked for Seung Gi and it was worth putting everything on the line. Even if they don't work out, I would still support Seung Gi (even though he would so get bombared with "I told you sos") because he is just a guy who fell deeply in love.

The family gained millions of dollars from this stock manipulation and I’m pretty sure the entire family never publicly or privately apologized to any of the affected individuals and their families as well. Da in’s mother addressed the situation only because of the hate Da in is receiving from the news of their engagement. While I do believe it’s Seunggi’s choice, as a long-time fan I can’t deny that there is a disappointing feeling about this situation knowing that his image will irrefutably suffer by being associated with this scandal. I cant say if it’ll have a permanent strain but regardless, for fans who praised Seunggi’s character and ability to be free of scandal, this whole situation is very messy. Especially in Korea. I'm no expert but I did live in Korea for a couple years and it's extremely common for people to display their wealth if they have it or buy things that are too expensive for them just to be seen as rich. they met playing golf and their relationship grew from there. As for her personality, we don't know anything. Apart from scrutinising her social media, no one knows her in real life. Seungi says she is a warm, kind person who has supported him in a lot. His own mother, who understandably didn't approve at first, said she is a kind and warm person. It's up to you what you want to believe. Personally, I don't believe he would risk his entire 20 year spotless career for someone who is like their parents. She must have a good side to her. It's hard for me judge Dain's entire position, her step father may have committed a crime but for all intents and purposes is a great dad to her. No one knows how she dealt with it, did she believe it fully, did she wilfully remain ignorant because she didn't want to believe? Was she receiving a distorted. perverted version of the truth from her mother? I honestly don't know. I guess time will tell whether or not this couple will survive. For Seungi's sake I hope they do, he seems so happy with her and Dain too seems to really love him.

Now giving his situation, it makes me wonder if he's an easy target for scammers. Now I'm not necessarily calling his wife a scammer, she could be genuinely in love with him(which i hope she is). I think you are right tbh. At least before marrying, you should stand your own ground and stand up to your parents. Like, if she stayed single, i wouldn't blame her, because she still lives with them.. but if she gets her own family, she should first remove herself from any association to that scandal of her parents.
