Death is pretty common for superheroes. If one of them bites it, they’ll likely be back on store shelves before you know it. With no real consequences, it’s hard to get invested nowadays. But some stories don’t pull their punches - when someone goes down, they stay down, and it’s up to the rest of the cast to pick up the pieces.
I much prefer to see the impact a character’s death has on others, rather than bringing them back for shock and awe. Someone taking their place and struggling to live up to their example. People who remember their actions and are forever changed by them. The fading of a name into legend. A tangible absence can be much stronger in a story than a hollow presence.
I know a lot of you loved Rivals, so I wanted to put out another video on comic book/anime tropes. Hope you enjoy! And if you don’t, well, it’s only 11 minutes. Not too much time wasted.
